- Chapter 7 - When I Got Home, My Little Sister Yuuna Scares Me
After accidentally stumbling upon the protagonist and the heroine.
“…Alright, looks like both of them have returned.”
I wandered the hallway for a bit to kill some time, then went back near the shoe lockers. Yukimura and the others were already gone from there.
So this time, I approached the shoe lockers and changed my shoes.
“Phew, that was close… Well, I did end up spending quite a bit of time.”
I ended up wasting quite some time apologizing in the staff room and waiting for Yukimura and the others to leave. Well, it couldn’t be helped, but it’s fine.
“But today being a day without work really saved me…”
From the fragments of Kuzuma’s memories, it seems he usually juggles quite a few part-time jobs, but today seemed to be a day off. If he had work today, I would have definitely been late, so I’m really grateful.
Also, it’s really helpful being able to see fragments of Kuzuma’s memories. It would be really bad as a person to unknowingly ditch work.
“But seriously, this guy… He really does too many part-time jobs.”
Looking at Kuzuma’s memories, he seems to be juggling part-time jobs at a convenience store, construction site, and karaoke. Even though he’s a high school student, he’s really overdoing it with part-time jobs.
Well, I used to think of Kuzuma as just a playboy delinquent, but it seems he’s earning his own money properly. So apparently, he hasn’t been doing things like extortion. Still, he’s overdoing it with the part-time jobs.
“Well, but… I really need to significantly reduce the number of part-time jobs from now on…”
It seems Kuzuma was earning money late into the night to play at clubs and such, but I don’t particularly intend to go out every night.
But I think it’s convenient to have some money available in case something happens, so starting next month, I’ll try to limit my part-time work to once or twice a week. Maybe mainly working intensively on weekends sounds good.

“I’m back!”
After a while, I returned to the apartment where I live.
The apartment where our family lives is old and the layout is a 2LDK type, quite cramped overall. So there isn’t a room exclusively for me; my sister and I share one room.
So I took off my shoes at the entrance and headed straight to the shared room with my sister. Opening the shared room, Yuuna’s school bag was already placed on her study desk. It seems like Yuuna had come home earlier.
So I quickly changed out of my school uniform into casual clothes and headed towards the living room.
“I’m home, Yuuna.”
“Huh…? Oh, uh, yeah… Welcome back…”
As I headed to the living room, there was Yuuna sitting on the sofa, watching a recorded anime show.
“T-Today… you came back… early…”
“Hm? Oh yeah, no work today. By the way, starting next month, I’ll only work on weekends.”
“Huh…? Oh, um, okay…”
(…Huh?)
When I mentioned reducing my work shifts starting next month, Yuuna looked quite surprised. And judging from that expression… It seems like Yuuna is quite afraid of me.
(No… she doesn’t really need to be that scared, right?)
I never expected to be so frightened by my own sister like this, so I was quite shocked. It’s really tough when even your own blood family looks at you with such fear.
(Sigh, if it’s come to this, maybe I should dye my hair back to black from blonde… No, aiming to be a true human wouldn’t be a bad idea either.)
So, while considering becoming a true human not only for the heroine but also for my family, I decided to observe my sister Yuuna carefully once again.
Yuuna is a second-grade elementary school girl, very cute with beautiful white skin and silky long black hair. Her personality is gentle and quiet, quite the opposite of me, her big brother.
“…Uh… Ah…”
“…Hm?”
Yuuna seemed to notice me staring at her and twitched, shivering slightly. She hurriedly stopped watching the recorded anime and handed me the TV remote.
“Umm, here… um, you can… continue watching the anime…”
“Huh? No, I mean, you were watching it first, Yuuna, so go ahead and keep watching.”
“Uh… b-but… um, you didn’t come to watch TV, right?”
Yuuna said this while trembling nervously. I feel really sorry for scaring my own sister like this…
(But seriously, for her to fear me this much… How badly have I been behaving at home?)
While thinking that, I immediately delved into Kuzuma’s memories.
It turns out Kuzuma wasn’t continuously rude to his sister; he simply hadn’t paid much attention to her at all. It might have felt like being ignored.
From Yuuna’s perspective, living a life where she’s completely ignored by this blonde delinquent every day… Yeah, it’s no wonder she sees me as a scary presence.
(Sigh, this guy really is… hopeless.)
While feeling deeply ashamed of not having interacted with Yuuna at all until now, I once again resolved to treat her as normally as possible, not just as a brother to the heroine but as a brother to Yuuna.
(But even though we’re siblings, with such a big age gap… What should I talk to her about?)
But just when I was thinking about possible topics to talk to Yuuna about, I immediately thought of something we could discuss. Speaking of which, that anime Yuuna was watching just now…
“…Hey, that anime you were watching, ‘Knight of the Divine Realm,’ right?”
“…Huh? Uh, yeah, that’s right…?”
The anime Yuuna had been watching earlier was ‘Knight of the Divine Realm,’ a classic fantasy anime where the protagonist and their friends use various sword techniques to defeat violent demons.
Originally serialized in a boys’ manga magazine, ‘Knight of the Divine Realm’ became immensely popular with people of all ages, leading to its recent anime adaptation. I loved the manga, so I knew all about it.
(Even in the world after reincarnation, the manga and anime from the original world are the same. Wow, this is really helpful!)
So, now that I found a topic I could discuss with Yuuna, I decided to start talking about it right away.
“That was really interesting, right? I loved reading the manga version.”
“Huh…? Oh, um, r-really!?”
“Huh? Oh, yeah, I did.”
When I mentioned how interesting ‘Knight of the Divine Realm’ was, Yuuna looked at me with a very surprised expression.
And since I hadn’t expected Yuuna to react so strongly, I was a bit surprised myself.
