I Reincarnated as the Villain of an NTR Game, But I Don't Want to Make the Main Heroine Unhappy so I'll Live Earnestly - Chapter 144
It was Saturday afternoon.
“Hmm, it’s about time, isn’t it?”
I checked my phone in front of the ticket gate at the central city station, our meeting spot. There were still 15 minutes until the scheduled meeting time.
Today was the day Yukimura and I were finally going to see a movie together. It was my first time going out alone with a girl I liked, so I had been really excited since yesterday.
For my outfit, I was wearing the black jacket and pants that Kuroki recommended. Since I’m tall and have a strong build, he suggested that simple clothes would suit me best, so I bought them.
(Yeah, these clothes Kuroki recommended are really nice.)
Sure enough, they felt comfortable, and I thought they looked great. I’ll have to thank Kuroki the next time I see him.
“S-Sorry to keep you waiting…”
“Hm? Oh… huh?”
As I stood there, excitedly waiting, I heard a voice from behind me. When I turned around, there was Yukimura.
I immediately checked out what she was wearing today.
“……”
Yukimura was dressed in a calm-colored, long knit dress paired with stylish boots, giving her a mature look. It was exactly the kind of outfit she knew I liked, something I had mentioned to her not too long ago.
(Did she wear this because I said I liked it?)
I might be overthinking it, but if that were the case, I’d be really happy. As I thought about this, I found myself staring at Yukimura again.
“Hey, why are you suddenly so quiet…?”
“Huh? Oh, no, I was just thinking that your outfit today really suits you, so I couldn’t help but stare.”
“What? Don’t say embarrassing things like that…”
“Ha, sorry, sorry.”
Yukimura, looking embarrassed, turned away with a pout. I laughed and apologized.
“Alright, now that we’ve met up, let’s head to the theater. It’d be a shame if we were late for the movie.”
“Y-Yeah, you’re right. Let’s go.”
With that, we started walking towards the movie theater located inside the central city station.
“It’s been a while since I’ve gone to the movies. Probably about a year, I think.”
“Oh, really? That does sound like a long time.”
As we walked to the theater, I mentioned that to Yukimura. The last movie I saw was probably a late-night show after I had left the university lab late at night.
“Yeah, that’s right. What about you, Yukimura? Do you watch movies often?”
“Hmm, no, not really. Honestly, I don’t watch movies that much. The last time I went to the theater was probably about a year ago, too.”
Yukimura touched her cheek as she said this. It seemed that she, like me, hadn’t gone to the movies much recently.
“Really? That’s kind of surprising. I thought you, being a book lover, would go to see movies based on novels often… but I guess that’s not the case.”
“Yeah. There have been plenty of movies based on books that I wanted to see, but my closest friend wasn’t into movies at all. So, I ended up not going since I didn’t want to go alone.”
“Hmm, I see…”
At that moment, I remembered the main story of the game… Now that I think about it, there weren’t any scenes where the protagonist and Yukimura went to the movies together. So, I guess the protagonist isn’t that interested in movies either.
“Yeah, that’s right. But, you know, with streaming services now, the movies I want to see often get added later, so it’s fine.”
“Oh, that makes sense. Those streaming services are really convenient these days. Ha, but watching movies on a streaming service feels like something the younger generation would do.”
“Huh? Younger generation… We’re the same age, you know. Why are you suddenly talking like an old man?”
“Huh? Oh, uh, no, I didn’t mean… haha…”
When I said that casually, Yukimura looked at me with a puzzled expression. It’s true, we’re the same age, so it was weird for me to say something like that…
But I couldn’t think of a good excuse on the spot, so I just laughed awkwardly to cover it up.
“Ahaha… Well, it’s true that going to the movies alone can be a bit intimidating. Everyone else is there with family or friends, so it takes some courage to go by yourself.”
“Yeah, exactly. But still, watching a movie in a theater would be more fun than on a small screen at home. That’s why one of my dreams is to be able to watch movies quietly and peacefully at a late-night show once I’m in college.”
Yukimura closed her eyes as she shared this small, charming dream with me.
“Ha, I see. Late-night shows are fun. Fewer people than during the day, and there’s a unique atmosphere that I really like.”
“Really? Wait, hold on. Why do you know so much about late-night shows? You’re a high schooler, aren’t you?”
“Uh… oh, crap.”
I had spoken proudly about what I knew, but then I realized… I’m still in high school. There’s no way I should be watching movies that are shown late at night.
“Uh, well… um… you see… ah, sometimes after work, I would catch a movie with a senior I was close to. And, you know, I didn’t really look like a high schooler, right? So I could easily watch late-night shows.”
“Hmm, I see. Well, that’s true. When I look at you now, I tend to forget, but up until recently, you definitely didn’t look like a high schooler. You looked more like a delinquent.”
Yukimura seemed to accept my flimsy excuse.
“Y-Yeah, exactly. So, you know, I actually enjoy going to the movies and the atmosphere of theaters… So, feel free to invite me anytime you want to go.”
“Huh? W-What? All of a sudden?”
“No, not suddenly. You mentioned earlier that there were a lot of movies you wanted to see but didn’t have friends who were interested, right?”
“Oh, um, yeah, I did say that.”
“Right? So, from now on, let’s go together. I’ll go with you to see any movie you want.”
“…What?”
With a smile, I told her that.
“Well, that is… if you don’t mind going out with just me. Haha.”
“W-What? No, it’s not like I would hate that! So, um… yeah, if there’s a movie I’m interested in, can I invite you?”
“Of course. I’d love to go with you, so feel free to ask me anytime.”
“Okay, I will. Uh, thank you.”
Yukimura smiled shyly as she said that, and I smiled back at her gently.
