Chapter 6 – The Three Heroines
Two days after I talked with Kaoru.
Today is Monday and it’s my first time at school after I was reincarnated.
On my way to school, I traced my memories.
It’s a strange feeling. It feels familiar yet entirely new.
The high school I attend prides itself on a balance of academics and athletics. Academically, some students excel, while others don’t, but the sports level is genuinely top-tier.
For example, the soccer and basketball clubs are regulars at the national competition, and the volleyball team won the national championship last year.
Incidentally, I spent the whole day at home yesterday thinking about the future.
There are three heroines.
Even if I don’t function as the main protagonist, there are other male leads present.
The heroines are, without exception, good looking and have good personalities.
I want to help them, but right now Kaoru is my top priority.
I don’t particularly want to make a move on any of the heroines other than Kaoru, but if I can help them, I will… That’s the resolution I came to.
There are so many branching routes in this eroge that it’s impossible to predict small events, but major events always occur on the same days, so I can deal with those.
Well, if the protagonist is strong-willed, I probably won’t need to intervene much anyway.
Currently it seems the protagonist is on the gal heroine route, but I’m not entirely sure…
Thinking about this, I entered the classroom.
As I entered the classroom, I attracted attention.
It’s been the same since a week ago…
Most of the looks are filled with disdain, and, honestly, it’s a bit hard to take.
Well, it’s not so bad because I know that they’re essentially directed at Ougo Kaito and not the real me.
Besides, I’m used to these from my previous life…
I took my seat.
All the heroines are in this class. They are Sasauchi Kaoru, the gal heroine Hiroshiki Kirara, and the class representative Minamikawa Hitomi. Hiroshiki Kirara is the polar opposite of Kaoru. She’s a blonde gal with strikingly large eyes, and an incredible figure. Of course, she has Kaoru-level looks.
She has a lively and energetic personality, and although it’s hard to imagine from her appearance, she’s the type who will take the initiative to lend a hand to elderly people or others in need… Okay, that’s totally a stereotype. Scratch that.
Minamikawa Hitomi has straight black hair and sharp eyes. She’s a stunning beauty, perfectly blending “cool” and “cute.”
She’s tall at 168cm, very earnest, a bit inflexible, and has a strong sense of responsibility. She’s also surprisingly into otaku hobbies and loves anime.
Looking around the classroom, Kirara is talking with the popular group, but it seems Yamazaki, Kaoru, and Hitomi haven’t arrived yet.
——A few minutes later
Kaoru and Yamazaki came into the classroom.
Seeing Kaoru talking normally with Yamazaki, I wonder if she was able to talk to him properly?
It’s a bit complicated for me, as I’ve decided to win her over, but hurting her would be counterproductive, so I guess it can’t be helped.
When Kaoru and I happened to make eye contact, she gave me a smile.
It was just a flash, so no one else noticed except me.
At that moment, Kirara approached Yamazaki.
“Yoo~ Good morning, Shin, Kaoru-chan!”
“Good morning… Hiroshiki-san.”
“G-good morning, Hiroshiki-san.
“I already told you two to call me Kirara♪”
“I’m still not used to it…”
“Yeah, we just met recently, after all.”
Yamazaki was acting all lovey-dovey towards Kirara, who was as high-spirited as ever, and Kaoru seemed to have something on her mind.
If I recall correctly, the reason Kirara started interacting with Yamazaki was simply that they were seated next to each other.
Then, she began teasing him because his reactions were amusing, which led her to get closer to him.
Kirara doesn’t think Kaoru has feelings for Yamazaki either, so I’m sure she doesn’t mean any harm.
Even so, Yamazaki is really carefree… Even though Kaoru is right next to him, he’s obviously fawning over Kirara… From the looks of it, he probably doesn’t know that Kaoru had cried the other day.
He looks so unreliable that it makes me wonder if he’ll really be able to deal with the misfortune that will befall the heroines from now on.
By the way, here’s Yamazaki’s specs.
170cm tall, normal build, average face, slightly above average grades, not that great at sports.
He’s not in any clubs and he loves games, so whenever he has free time, he plays online PC games with his friends.
That’s why he often stays up late.
“I wonder what’s going to happen from now on…”
I muttered to myself.

——School ended, and it was now after class.
I was doing my duties as the day’s classroom representative, so I was alone in the classroom.
Observing things throughout the day, it was obvious Yamazaki had his attention on Kirara.
Watching this from nearby, Kaoru still looked as though she was in pain. It was hard to watch.
Well, I guess it’s also good for me.
“Well, whatever, let’s just go home.”
Just as I was thinking that and about to go home, the classroom door opened.
“Gah!”
It was Hiroshiki Kirara who looked at me and said that.
I thought it was incredibly rude, but I get that anyone would do the same if they knew the rumors about me.
“That’s a bit rude, don’t you think? Well, whatever.”
“Sorry… I was a bit surprised… There were rumors and stuff.”
When I said that, Kirara answered apologetically.
“I’m used to it now. What’s wrong?”
“Uh… I just forgot something…”
“I see…”
Saying that, Kirara went to her seat and took out her bag.
“What are you doing here, Kaito-kun?”
“Just doing my classroom duty, that’s all.”
“Really? That’s surprising…”
“Hey, at least I do my own work…”
I knew it already, but the image of Ougo Kaito was firmly ingrained in people’s minds.
It’s going to be really hard to get rid of that… Oh well, can’t be helped.
“Maybe you’re not as scary as the rumors say?”
“You’ll have to decide that for yourself.”
“Fair enough.”
As we talked, Kirara glanced at the clock.
“Oh no! I’m late! I gotta run——Bye!”
“Yeah.”
And with that, Kirara hurriedly left the classroom.
◆
——On my way home, I was lost in thought.
“Hiroshiki Kirara…”
She’s an idol at school, who’s popular with both boys and girls.
She has a lot of friends, so there’s bound to be tons of people who want to get close to her.
But she has a problem that she hasn’t told anyone about.
She lost her parents in an accident when she was young.
She lives with her grandparents now, and must be living quite poorly.
She loves her grandparents so much that she started working part-time jobs in middle school without the school knowing, in order to help them out in any way she could.
And that continues to this day.
At this high school, you need permission to work part-time… But Kirara hasn’t been given permission because she’s had low grades since middle school. She was told that she would be allowed to work part-time if she got above average in all subjects in the next test.
And that’s why she’s been working part-time jobs in secret, even in high school.
Well, so far it’s been okay…
But in the near future, her grandfather will collapse…
And then Hiroshiki Kirara, who desperately needs money for hospital bills and the like, tries to make money even by selling her body.
The protagonist notices this and tries to do something about it.
He seeks his parents’ assistance to find a way to lend her the money and explores other means to support her.
From there, Hiroshiki Kirara begins to fall in love with the protagonist, Yamazaki Shin.
Hiroshiki Kirara is popular at school, so she’s afraid of ruining her image and hasn’t been able to talk to anyone about it.
She’s scared that revealing her problems would shatter the perfect image others have of her, causing her friends to drift away.
I think a big part of that is that she doesn’t want to disappoint everyone.
That said, there’s probably nothing I can do about it now.
I mean, there’s no way I could say, “Your grandfather is going to collapse.”
Besides, she hasn’t told anyone that her parents are gone, so it would be downright creepy if I somehow knew.
But, well, it seems like the protagonist is getting along well with Kirara now, so I guess it’ll be okay.
After all, Kaoru is my top priority.

T/N: Kirara seems like a good girl, there’s no way Kaito won’t help her…
