Chapter 2 – The Childhood Friend Maid Is a Loyal Puppy
Inukai Nazuna, a childhood friend and Taketo’s personal maid.
Her mother, Inukai Tsumugi, served as a maid for the Ryuoin family for many years.
After her parents’ marriage, Inukai Tsumugi became not only Mother’s maid but also a nursemaid to Taketo after his birth.
In recognition of her contribution to the Ryuoin family, Nazuna, who was born as Tsumugi’s daughter, was employed as Taketo’s personal maid from an early age, providing wages for both.
The reason for paying double wages was that Tsumugi, despite getting married, quickly separated from her husband due to his gambling and debts, unknown to her at the time of marriage.
For this reason, she became a live-in maid at the Ryuoin family.
However, Tsumugi was diagnosed with a certain illness, and around the time Taketo entered middle school, Tsumugi was sent to the hospital.
Nazuna also transferred to a junior high school near the hospital and took a leave of absence from her job as a maid so that she could take care of her mother.
In the middle school without Nazuna, Taketo’s condemnation was carried out by Tatemiya.
For Taketo, he hasn’t seen Nazuna in about three years.
“My mother passed away three months ago. I informed the Ryuoin family of my resignation. Since my father became my guardian, I felt I shouldn’t cause any trouble. My father doesn’t have money, and I have to work because I can’t go to high school.”
Seeing Nazuna after a long time, her cheeks were sunken, and though she tried to conceal it, there were bruises on her arms.
There seem to be reasons other than gambling and debt for Tsumugi’s divorce.
“…I see.”
“Master! I’m sorry! Even though I was Master’s slave, I left the house without permission, and now I can’t return to Master. I’m a useless maid.”
For better or worse, Nazuna is Taketo’s biggest victim.
Since childhood, Taketo had considered himself a chosen individual and had been educating Nazuna as a slave.
As a result, Nazuna sees Taketo with her own distorted thoughts.
She feels a strange bond in the master-servant relationship.
“Oh, you don’t need to worry about that. I’ve been kicked out of my own house too. I’m not your master anymore.”
“W-What! Taketo-sama will always be Nazuna’s master! Please don’t abandon me!”
Why does she make it sound like I’m abandoning her? I’d rather think of it as being liberated…
Hmm, why is it that Nazuna, who is supposed to be the victim of evil and treasonous behavior, keeps coming at me? She gazes at me with eyes like that of an abandoned puppy.
A tremendous sense of guilt wells up in me as I look into those eyes.
“I-I don’t have anything anymore. I’m a condemned and expelled loser. I have to move into the dormitory of Tojo Academy and stay quiet until I graduate from university. There’s nothing I can do for you.”
“I see. If Nazuna were by Master’s side, things wouldn’t have turned out like this…I’m sorry.”
“You did nothing wrong.”
Feeling pathetic, Taketo has to live with the consequences of his actions.
While he believes entering high school is necessary for his education, he plans to quietly graduate and start over in life.
However, he must make it clear to her that she’s a victim, and he can’t be her master anymore.
“…Still, Nazuna’s heart belongs to Master.”
“Whaa! You… Haah…”
I know I have to cut her out, but I can’t say that because she looks like my sister from my past life. Also, I feel like I can’t leave Nazuna alone because of her bruises.
“Say Nazuna.”
“Yes?”
“If I asked you to come with me to Tojo Academy as a servant, would you come?”
“If that’s what Taketo-sama wants, I’ll be happy to!”
Nazuna’s answer was immediate.
“What about your father?”
“I don’t care about that scum!”
By scum, she meant her father, right?
Uh, is this girl okay?
It seems like Taketo has had quite an influence on her.
So, in her mind, Taketo is her master, and everyone else is an enemy.
To even label her own father as scum, she must have gone through quite a transformation in her thinking.
“I see, I’ll ask the Old man for a moment and get back to you, so could you give me some time?”
“Of course. In the meantime, I’ll prepare to cut ties with that scum and get ready to go to the academy.”
“Uh, sure.”
It seems like it’s already decided, huh? I didn’t explicitly ask her to come with me…
Well, I guess it’s better than being alone at the academy…
Nazuna is petite and cute.
Maybe it’s because it’s a game world, but her orange hair, which I rarely saw in my previous life, is cut into a bob cut, and although she’s petite, her body has grown in ways that make it hard to know where to look.
I also worry that her father might think something strange, like forcing her into difficult jobs or worse.
Maybe it’s not a bad idea for Nazuna to stay with me until she finds something she wants to do.
When I returned home, I was happy to see Nazuna’s new number etched into my smartphone.
“To receive Master’s number… This means Master can call on me anytime! I’ll be at Master’s service in the morning, noon, evening, or even in the middle of the night!”
“No, please sleep well at night.”
I was constantly overwhelmed.
Was Taketo’s brainwashing really that bad? Honestly, I don’t understand anymore.
For the time being, I decided to tell the Old man about Nazuna’s current situation and have my parents look into it.
“I see…Tsumugi has passed away. I will tell the Madam. With that in mind, I believe she will approve of Miss Nazuna.”
I don’t know how the Old man reported it, but a few hours after the call, I received approval for Nazuna to enter the dorm, attend the academy, and other necessary arrangements.
There’s just one thing.
I was told that she would not be enrolled as my servant but as a regular student.
Well, I actually prefer it that way.
“So, that’s the situation.”
“Gghh! I’m sad that I’m not Taketo-sama’s servant. However, if that’s the will of the Ryuoin family, there’s nothing I can do. I appreciate the kindness of the Ryuoin family.”
“Your father didn’t object?”
“Yes. I physically silenced him by kicking a certain sensitive area, so it’s fine.”
“Oh, I see.”
I felt sorry for Nazuna because she was a victim.
But surprisingly, the childhood friend Inukai Nazuna appears to be more resilient than I thought. Maybe Taketo’s actions weren’t as significant as I believed.
After enrolling in the academy, my three months of living alone finally came to an end.
I said goodbye to the people who have been good to me in the shopping district and the factory district during my time there.
“Oh, it’s so sad! Have this as a farewell gift!”
“What the heck! It’s making me sad~ I’ll give you this!”
“WHAT!? Damn it, it’s so saddening. Here’s a farewell gift!”
Although it was only three months, I received many farewell gifts and spent my days being loved by a large number of people.
These days were a nostalgic scene for me as well, and must have been a first for Taketo.
As for Taketo, he may no longer have a heart.
However, I hope he can experience even a little love and feel rewarded.
“Master. It’s about time.”
“Yes, thanks. But you don’t have to dress like that, you know?”
“No, I must. I am Taketo-sama’s maid.”
Nazuna wasn’t wearing her uniform, she was dressed in the maid outfit she wore at the Ryuoin family.
We were heading to the dorm to clean.
It felt awkward being seen with a maid, but I suppose that’s already a norm for the real Taketo.
