- I Reincarnated As A Trash Prince With The Strongest Skill
- Chapter 4 - Ability Testing (2)
Mana. The fuel which makes the use of magic possible. Humans and other species use mana to cast spells and enchantments.
Magic requires extensive knowledge. For one to use magic, one needs knowledge and skills. For example, a mage must understand what fire means, its properties, color, and shape to cast a fireball.
Magic complements the mage’s unique skill. A mage with fire attributes frequently has high self-confidence, passionate and fiery temper. They desire to stand out more and always be in the spotlight.
In the Aurus kingdom, only children of the nobility have access to [Judgment] to limit commoners from rebellion. Also, a mage must have a contract with a spirit for it to work.
Then what about [Judgment] and [All Seeing Eye]?
I was sitting on my bed as I started experimenting with my unique skill.
[Creation]. A skill that allows me to make anything as long as I know the principles behind it.
“[Create Object]“
Using my past life knowledge, I imagined a white ball with stitches – a ball used in baseball games. I chanted those words while my right hand extended.
Nothing happened.
Why did it fail to activate? Was there a prerequisite for the [Creation] magic to start?
I need more knowledge. Knowing the [All-Seeing Eye] activated without any problems, there might be some rule for [Creation] to start.
*Ring**Ring*
I rang the bell beside my bed to call for my butler.
“Hans.”
“Did you call for me, Young Master?”
“Yes. I need elementary magic books.”
“Huh…? What do you need them for, Young Master? You don’t have any talent for magic?”
“Just do it!”
“Y-Yes!”
With that, Hans left hurriedly towards the door.

“For magic to be activated, one needs understanding and the necessary materials.”
Currently, I am reading a “Beginner’s Guide To Magic” by Guin.
“So magic needs materials aside from mana…”
That logic made it understandable how Elizabeth could create a [Fireball] from thin air. There are two possible scenarios:
-
- She has a source of fire, then transmitted by using mana.
-
- She knows how to generate fire using oxygen.
Since knowledge in this world is not that advanced, the first option would be the most probable.
In the case of the [All Seeing Eye], it probably used my game knowledge to display the window-style setting. I can only guess about the source, perhaps the world itself.
With this new-found knowledge, I tried casting [Creation] once more.
“[Create Ball]”
While imagining a baseball, I extended my hands to the leather and thread placed on the table while my right hand raised, pointing to the other side.
I imagined the picture of a baseball, and a blue-light magical circle appeared on the materials after a while. The materials vanished; a magical blue light appeared, and a baseball appeared like a creature summoning.
All these happened, and the process took no more than a second.
“Success!”
I observed the baseball to check whether it would disappear. After an hour, there were no changes to it.
“Hahaha. Should I try being a merchant? I can get rich selling merchandise from out of this world! A rich life, here I come!”
After that, I tried various experiments, and here’s what I found about my unique skill for it to be successfully activated.
-
- Materials. I tried using different amounts of leather and thread to create one ball of the same size—no material left as I cast magic on separate piles of leather and thread. If the material were not enough, the magic would not activate.
-
- Knowledge. I needed the know-how of the making of the object. Like baseball, I know it can be made by stitching leather in a round shape.
-
- Volume. With my current level, I can create objects at a maximum of 1 gallon or the size of a small chair. With my mana pool, I can cast at the max of five times at an enormous volume.
“Wouldn’t it be possible to cast ‘that’? There’s no way, right?”
A sudden idea popped into my mind, and I jokingly chanted.
“[Create Fireball]”
A small ball appeared and flew out of my right palm, burning the pile of leather in the corner.
“Woah! Hans! Hans! Help me!!!”
I shouted, and after just a minute, Hans saw the burning pile of leather.
Thankfully, the fire was put out almost immediately by the servants.
‘But isn’t this too much of a cheat?’
With that in my mind, I passed out due to exhaustion.
