“So… Why the hell are you here!?”
Why, he asks…
Today was the day Rui and her parents were meeting. Kyouko was also participating in that meeting.
“I was told I’d be the one keeping an eye on you.”
“…! It’s your fault this all started in the first place…!!”
No, this was your fault from the beginning.
“Relax, will you? I didn’t come here to pick a fight. If you behave yourself, I won’t do anything.”
“…Don’t get cocky!”
Thud, thud!
Just when I thought Yamada had moved to the kitchen, he came back holding a kitchen knife.
“…Cut it out. Even if you’re holding that thing, you won’t be able to do anything to me. Or what, you planning to go at it with me?”
“Hii!”
Yamada dropped the knife. All I did was give him a sharp glare, and this was the result… I picked up the knife that had fallen at Yamada’s feet.
Oi, why are you backing off that far? Do you really think I’d use this thing to do something to you?
For now, I put the knife back in the kitchen.
“…Like I said before, just behave yourself. That’s the only way you can atone to Rui.”
“D-Don’t stick your nose into this! Besides, you’ve got a sex friend too, don’t you!? So what’s so wrong with me having one!?”
“No, I mean, having sex without consent is a crime…”
Wait, does this guy seriously lack that much common sense…?
“If you hadn’t laid hands on Rui in the first place, she wouldn’t have betrayed me!”
………Hm? Sure, I did sleep with Rui, but that was after this guy had attacked her. And there was no way he should know about that.
“…What are you talking about?”
“Don’t play dumb! You attacked Rui and used your dick to make her your puppet!”
There’s no way I could… …Wait, I could. The ero-manga version of me actually did that to Kyouko.
Whoa. Careful there, I almost admitted to it. What I didn’t do, I didn’t do.
“Besides, it was because you lied about me and Kyouko. That lie of yours got exposed, didn’t it? Don’t spread crap like that. Because of you, Rui threw a rock at me the first time we met.”
“Hah! Serves you right!”
………Damn it, that pissed me off more than I’ve felt in a while. This guy hasn’t reflected at all, has he?
Really, how the hell did parents like those end up raising this thing?
“…Haaah… Talking to you is just exhausting.”
I shoved Yamada out of my mind, walked into the kitchen, and put my hand on the refrigerator.
“H-hey, don’t just open someone else’s fridge without permission!”
“Idiot. I already got your parents’ permission.”
His old man had asked me if I could order delivery for two, for both me and Kouta, for lunch and dinner, and they’d settle the cost afterward. So I suggested I could cook instead.
I could’ve bought groceries beforehand, but since I didn’t know what seasonings they had, I got permission to just use what was in the fridge so I could decide on the spot.
Why do I go out of my way that much? Simple: out of spite.
I heard Kyouko used to cook here too. As pathetic as it sounded, the thought of this guy eating food Kyouko made left me irritated.
So… This was my plan. I’d cook Kyouko’s recipes right here myself, and overwrite his memory of her with me. Recently, Kyouko herself had been giving me pretty high praise about my cooking, so I was confident I could recreate her recipes.
“Hey.”
“W-what is it?”
“I’ll make yours too, so get out your own plates. You eat in your room, right? Once it’s ready, I’ll leave it in front of your door.”
“…Don’t you dare put anything weird in it.”
“I’m not gonna do something that stupid. If anything happens here, I’d feel sorry for Rui and your old man.”
“D-Don’t you dare call Rui without honorifics!”
“Sorry, but she asked me to call her that.”
“…Damn it!”
Bang!
Yamada slammed his bedroom door shut and disappeared inside.
…Or so I thought, until he came out again. Ah, right. He forgot to bring his plates out. He put out a few plates, a rice bowl, and a cup, then shot me a glare before retreating back to his room.
The rice bowl was there, but no rice had been cooked.
I guess I’ll cook some now and save it for dinner.
“Alright then, what should I make…”
I opened the fridge, quickly memorized the contents, and shut it right away. Otherwise the cold air would escape.
“Yep, pasta it is.”
Shungiku (spring vegetables), buna-shimeji mushrooms, and bacon. That was enough to make a Japanese-style pasta. Now that I thought about it, since I was doing Kyouko’s recipe, I didn’t need to make anything complicated. I’d just whip it up quickly.
In less than thirty minutes, two portions were done. I added some instant wakame soup, put Yamada’s portion on a tray, and set it in front of his door. I called out that the food was ready, then walked away. Soon after, the door opened and the tray was taken inside.
After confirming that, I brought my own portion to the living room to eat.
………Mm. Not bad, if I do say so myself.
Although since it was Kyouko’s recipe, I wasn’t sure if I could praise myself for it. This wasn’t my own recipe after all. Either way, I ate on, satisfied.
Clack, clatter.
A sound rang out.
When I looked toward Yamada’s room, I saw the empty dishes placed back outside on the tray.
…Huh? He already ate it? Sure, I started eating later, but I wasn’t even halfway through my portion yet. Did he even chew his food properly? …Maybe I should make something for dinner that’d force him to chew more…?
………No, no, no, no, why the hell am I worrying about Yamada’s health? He’s throwing me off balance here…
