I no longer want to be a part of this triangle! - Chapter 33- Love [THE END]
In the face of death, everyone shows their real face, after all, no one wants to die in their right mind.
In times of crisis, most mothers first check on their children to see if they are okay even though they are themselves injured. In most cases, friends are known to be the figures of sacrifice who, for friendship, can go to some extreme lengths.
Teenage love, though, doesn’t give one much surety in such times, considering at that age, people tend to change their minds quite often. Today, who is your lover can become a subject of hatred for you, tomorrow. In the age of such a fragile conscience and weak commitment, one couldn’t expect someone to jump in to save the person they love.
It’s just unthinkable.
However, not every teenager holds the same ideology. Some of them are different. Some of them…indeed jump to face death if they could somehow save the person they love.
And Katori….did the same.
*Bang*
Before even the bullet left the gun, the girl jumped toward Kazuki, the person whom Riko desired to murder.
She didn’t know how she gained such strength in her legs, but in a blink, she covered several meters, and fortunately, she was in front of Kazuki when she should have been.
“Ahh…” A slow yelp escaped her lips as she felt something piercing her back and making her feel hot at that spot. The vivid sensation of the bullet entering her body made her realize that she, indeed, had saved Kazuki.
“KATORI!!” Kazuki yelled in panic, and Kohta was frozen still at his spot; unable to discern what just happened.
*Bang* *Bang* *Bang*
Three more bullets were shot and Katori took all of it without showing any sign of separating from him.
Riko gritted her teeth and tried to pull the trigger again only to find something hitting her face brutally.
The brown-haired girl fell to her side and hit her head against the corner of a desk, falling unconscious right away.
Kohana dropped the metal bat and looked at Katori who was no longer standing on her feet but was held in Kazuki’s arms.
Blood spilt from her back and trailed down to reach her foot.
Kohana instantly pulled out her phone to call for an ambulance as she saw the police also arriving at the scene.
Kohta was still locked at his place, too shocked to move as he stared at Katori’s pale face and those eyes which were slowly losing vitality.
Kazuki’s face was smeared with tears as he tried picking her up, only for Katori to hold his shirt.
“W-Why…Katori…” He whimpered, unable to utter a word properly.
There was a smile on Katori’s face as she slowly held Kazuki’s face. The tears she saw in his eyes were enough evidence to show that he didn’t completely hate her. He still cares about her.
This was absolutely the best parting gift she could have asked for.
Very slowly, it was like she was taking all the time of her life, she uttered,
“Y-You…k-kn-know….K-K-azu…I-I-I…was….a-a-also…t-there….a-a-after…y-you…l-l-lo-lost…t-that……match….”
Taking a pause and collecting all the breath she could, she whispered, “B-But…I…guess…w-we…were….n-never…me-meant…t-to…b-be…one….”
Those were the last words that Kazuki or the world heard from Nanase Katori.
…..
…
..
“Satsuki! Wake up!”
“Ah!” Snapping out of her sleep, a girl, not much older than seventeen raised her head from the desk and looked at the person who called out
It was another girl wearing the same uniform and looking at the sleeping girl with a helpless smile, “You again fell asleep reading that manga? You are hopeless, Satsuki.”
Hearing the word ‘manga’ the girl, Satsuki, looked at the book she was reading and indeed a familiar book was resting there.
A smile bloomed on her face as she opened the manga and flipped to reach the last page of the book.
The last page contained the drawing of two people standing on the stage in their wedding dresses.
On the right was a handsome young man with neatly combed blond hair. And on the right stood, a short girl with black hair, smiling foolishly.
Her smile extended wider as she closed the book and said, “Let’s go, Hana. We are getting late.”
