I no longer want to be a part of this triangle! - Chapter 30- Abducted~2
“She returned?!” This was the first reaction of the duo who were supposed to be the guardians of that crazy girl named Riko.
Kazuki frowned, “How can you not know that she was released from the detention centre? Aren’t you both her legal guardians?” His tone held urgency and annoyance.
The lady with green hair frowned, as she slowly uttered, “We weren’t informed by the administration that she would get discharged today.”
Her husband soon followed, “Yes. I called them yesterday but they didn’t mention anything about her getting discharged.”
Kohta was surprised, “She ran away?”
Emi followed, “It’s not possible for someone to run away from a detention centre where hundreds of people get treated…unless someone helped from outside.” Her words hung in the room and silence descended.
While Kazuki and the other two were asking questions, Katori was looking around the house casually.
Her eyes suddenly went towards the picture frames hanging on the wall.
There was a familiar girl with them in those pictures, which matched the pictures which the crazy stalker had attached to the file.
However, what caught the pinkette’s attention was another girl in the picture who looked younger than Riko.
‘Hmm?’ Katori frowned upon seeing the most recent picture of theirs having the three of them, except for Riko. The short green-haired girl was smiling happily while standing between the couple who were currently getting questioned.
‘It’s of three days ago…and the girl doesn’t look much older than fifteen….which means she shouldn’t have left for some foreign University…’
Katori slowly turned towards the duo and squinted her eyes….only to find some fresh wounds on the man’s ear and the side of his face, which were barely visible because of his beard. However, one cannot refute the fact that those wounds were inflicted recently.
Katori’s eyes then went towards the floor, and she found dirt marks on the mat and a few droplets of blood there as well.
‘She is here…and watching us…’ Casually, when she glanced around, she found that the house was surrounded by cameras, which was normal in households these days. However, those cameras were currently closely watching their movements.
‘Hastily moving now will be dangerous…’ She slowly and very nonchalantly neared the other three before snickering,
“What will you expect from some irresponsible adults, these days?” Turning her eyes toward Kazuki, she said, “I think we should start searching for those places where those two used to go when they were kids.”
Kazuki frowned, hearing her suddenly ridiculing the duo. However, he couldn’t refute the fact that she was correct about searching at those places which were close to Riko.
“What are those places where Riko can bring her?”
The man gulped, clenching his fist, before he slowly uttered, “There is a park near the school…a-and a shrine on the west side of the school….she might go there…”
Kazuki nodded before he got up. However, he suddenly frowned…looking past the duo he asked, “Is there someone inside?” He faintly heard some rustle from inside.
However, “Ah yeah, it must be our cat haha!” The man suddenly laughed with his eyes closed. A single droplet of tears formed at the corner of his eyes when he laughed.
Kazuki and the others soon left the residence and descended the stairs. Only after they reached a little away from the apartment, Kazuki uttered,
“There is something strange about them….they know something about Kohana.”
Kohta and Emi were surprised to hear that, as the former asked, “How can you say that? They looked pretty normal to me.”
“Yes, same for me.”
Kazuki shook his head, “No, there was something wrong with them…they looked scared about something and were quite hasty to make us leave. That’s why they didn’t even offer water.”
Now that he thinks about it, Kohta also realised that, indeed, it was quite unnatural for them to be on such an edge when the charges of the crime of their niece wouldn’t affect them.
Turning his eyes toward Katori, he found her looking towards the left before she waved at someone.
Everyone turned their attention toward the group of men arriving before them, and if there was something common about them then it was their uniform.
They were wearing police uniforms.
“Katori, why did you tell me to leave the car behind?” A man with tightly combed black hair and square glasses that hid his eyes arrived before the girl and asked.
Kohta and Kazuki both knew the identity of the man; he was her father and the chief of police.
“She is in their house and surely would have noticed so many police cars.”
The man frowned and several police officers instantly looked at the apartment with a serious expression.
“How do you know?” He asked, to which Katori huffed, “Genes worked quite right at times.”
The man expressed a smile, which was not something his colleague often saw as he ruffled Katori’s hair fondly.
However, that smile soon faded as he turned towards the building and was about to advance forward when suddenly Kazuki stopped them,
“Wait! There is a risk of her harming Kohana if you all go there like this.” Kazuki was not completely stranger to the older one and even if he had been, he wouldn’t have hesitated from stopping them.
The person at risk was close to Kazuki not to them and Kazuki wouldn’t let them take any risk which can endanger her life.
The officer neared Kazuki before telling him, “We have no other option here, kid. The person we are dealing with has killed eight wardens of the detention center to reach here within six hours. You can tell what will happen if we don’t treat this case carefully, right?”
Kazuki clenched his fist and couldn’t refute what the man said. Naturally more than him these trained officers would be able to handle the situation.
Katori stepped forward, “Trust them, Kazuki-kun..I know Otou-san will rescue Kohana safely. I promise you.”
In the end Kazuki had no other option than to nod.
