“It’s all part of my calculations. It’s better than them hating each other, right? I’ll take as much of their grudges as possible if that’s what it takes to make things peaceful between the two parties. Don’t worry, I’m used to this.”
The student Council president accepted but glossed over my worries while also sympathizing with me. As I thought, she’s sooo cool, and her boobs reflecting all my worries shone ever so brightly in that setting sunlight.
I was stunned and taken aback, I was unable to hold off my thoughts which involuntarily escaped from my mouth.
“Yare-Yare~”
Saying so, Suzune san looked towards the three of us and smiled wryly.
“Well, I will be saying bye to all of you over here then. I’m really sorry Yoimachi-kun, I wanted to go home with you once in a while.”
“No problem, thank you for your concern.”
“Ehhh! Even though I was finally able to walk home with Suzune san!”
Next to the Yoimachi-san who was waiting to bow politely, I was blatantly discouraged and angry. There is a limit to how irresponsible one can remain even after becoming this old. However, Suzune-san just casually ignored me, and turned towards Jiiro who was standing awkwardly.
“Kusunoki, weren’t you a member of the handicraft club? If there’s someone related to them, it would be easier to talk. Would it be fine if I ask you to come along with me?”
“Yeah.I will be happy to be of any help, as far as my capabilities can entail.”
At Suzune san’s request, Jiiro nodded and accepted with a wry smile.
But wait, if you’re going with her, so can I! Rather, I’m going too! “Me too, me too!”.
But when I raised my hand, both Jiiro and Suzune shook their heads from side to side.
“No. Takuma, you’re on today’s duty of cleaning the bathroom of the dorms. The Janitor, he becomes really scary if anyone skips their duty.”
“Shimotsuke-san, please escort Yoimachi-san to the dormitory safely. I’ll leave her to you then.”
The two of them coldly and calmly said so and headed towards the club building. Needless to say, it was just me and Yoimachi-san who were left here alone. As the gentle spring evening breeze blew through the area, I turned to the little girl beside me and said,
“Well then… let’s go home. UwU…. Even though I finally had a chance to get close to her…!”
“Your tension has all of a sudden hit rock bottom, eh? But it’s okay, please cheer up.”
“No matter what you think, it’s impossible for Shimotsuke-senpai to be together with the President. I think it would be better for your mental-health the faster you give up on her though.”
Next to Yoimachi san was me, a person who dropped his shoulders on her ever so cold remarks. I knew something like that from the very beginning, or so I said to her back bluntly, and then began walking sloppily.
AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!
“In short, it’s about the fact that the matron of the girls’ dormitory is beautiful and has a nice personality. I mean, she has a great style and wears a mini skirt too. It’s a completely different vibe from that old man who’s in charge of the boy’s dormitory. Etto… Yoimachi-san? You are hearing me, right?”
With a sigh, I turned my face to the right and called the name of my junior who was walking right beside me. She was nodding to my words and replied “Um, for the time being,” although all I could see were her eyes looking at the wide-long river illuminated by the bright red sunset.
“I can definitely hear you but I’m deliberately not paying attention to whatever you were saying earlier. If you want me to actually respond to your conversation, you should probably choose the topic you speak about a little more carefully. I’d be very thankful if you do so.”
“…… I’m sorry.”
A stern voice came back into my ears, and I apologized reflexively. I do think it’s a pathetic act for a person accompanying a younger girl to do, but well this time it was definitely my own fault. I really have to do something about my thoughts and habits that immediately goes right into ‘that’ direction in the course of conversation. After lightly poking my head a bit, I once again turned my attention towards the junior walking next to me and the wide river flowing in the background.
This Goki Sagikawa river, which was also a symbol of the town before the merger of municipalities, is a grand and magnificent river with a wide-width and large amount of water present in it. The scene of the sunset being reflected on the leisurely flowing of water, coupled with the contrast of the long shadows formed by the viaduct over the river, is beautiful no matter how many times you look at it.
“But Yoimachi-san, you’ve been focusing on the river for quite a while now. I know it’s definitely a beautiful sight for sore eyes, but is it that rare of a sight for you? I mean, since you’re a dorm student, you should be able to see this scene every day when returning back home.”
“Everyday? No, this is my first time seeing it. I didn’t even know about this way of returning back by the riverbank… When we left the school gate and suddenly went off track from the main road, I began to wonder where I was actually being taken to.”
When she said those last few words in a whisper, Yoimachi-san glanced sideways towards me. “You’re really disrespectful, you know.”. I shrugged my shoulders, crossed my arms, and opened my mouth.
“Just so you know, I’m completely harmless towards women! All my thoughts are limited to delusions only! Moreover, my feelings towards someone like Yoimachi-san, who is not only small in height, but also her breast-size, don’t make me feel like doing anything strange to you in the first place anyways.”
“That, in its own way, is really rude to me though.”
The small girl looked up coldly towards the me who was walking by her side and told me that this was a kind of sledging.
Attached to the handle of her bag, was a gray strap in the shape of a bird with its wings spread swinging and dangling (*bu~Rang-Bu~rang*) to and fro. After commenting about that being quite a severe taste for a girl in my heart, I turned my eyes towards the old town on the other side of the river.
“By the way, the regular school route is that way, but this path here is definitely a shortcut. So whenever you think you’re going to be late, my recommendation would be to take this route instead. The other side has many turns and also tons of signals on it, so at times it can even take more than twenty minutes to arrive, but if you go via this road, you are essentially guaranteed to arrive within fifteen minutes.”
“I see. I am grateful for your advice.”
“You’re welcome. but did you really not know of this way before? You’re in middle school, 3rd year, meaning that you’ve been attending this school from the dorms for about 3 years now, right? I was sure that you’d be more familiar with the school and its surroundings than I, who’s been attending this school since my first year of high school.”
“Unfortunately, I transferred to the dorms right this spring. Thus, I lived in the neighboring city of Tsugumi for about two years of elementary school. But well, it’s not like I don’t know anything about the surroundings either.”
“Oh, so you’re an inhabitant of Tsugumi then? I used to live there before too. Maybe we’ve already met somewhere or the other once. So, did you move here due to your family’s job?”
“No. I no longer have a family anymore. That’s why the scholarship program of the Gyokkou Academy, which exempts tuition and even the dormitory fees, was just about right for me.”
“…Oh um, what do I say…? It must have been really tough on you… I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have asked you about your family so lightly.”
“It’s okay.”
In response to my involuntary apology, Yoimachi-san said coldly.
“In particular, it’s not that bad of a problem at all, so please don’t be so mindful about it.”
She added. The tone of voice that she used to talk to herself seemed to be a bit pretentious, but she continued to maintain her calm demeanor through her words. I thought that she was strangely strong and mature despite her age and appearance, but I wondered if her body too played an important role in her becoming like that.
Could it be due to her physical condition? Or so I kept thinking while overlooking that little head which continued walking besides me strongly.
“Come to think about it…”
I changed the direction of our conversation.
“About our transfer exam, it has a reputation of being a really hard standard exam. It’s known for being quite difficult in it’s level when compared to any other high school’s entrance exams. On top of you managing to pass that, you also managed to get a scholarship. It was quite a high hurdle, wasn’t it?”
“To an extent, yes, it was. But because of that experience, I managed to become a scholarship student… with which, I was able to receive scholarship fees in addition to exempting my general fees. So, even though I’m little, I am in no need of pity from anyone at all, you know.”
