I Love To Hate You - Chapter 4- Overwork
“Have you looked at yourself in the mirror? Even once? I dated you because of your background and your popularity. But never even once did I feel sexual appeal from you.”
“Why do you think I never kissed you or led things to the bed? I had the chance yet I said that I wanted to cherish our relationship. It was all crap. The truth was I never felt anything about you.”
…
These were a few things I told her that day when Sayuri saw me before the love hotel with her friend by my side.
I still remember how she cried but never responded.
I remember her face from that time.
I attacked those spots that I knew were vulnerable. I twisted our past to make it seem that all I did was to use her and never feel anything for her.
And that long speech I gave was recorded by someone and uploaded.
In college, there was not a single student who didn’t see that video and didn’t laugh.
More than a few were there who always antagonised Sayuri for how perfect her life was. So this was the best opportunity they had to make her life a living hell.
I never contacted her after that day.
I saw her getting isolated by everyone and remained silent.
I saw her people snickering at her, saying things which could make anyone’s heart bleed.
But…I didn’t do anything.
And after a few weeks, she left the University.
I heard things became so severe that she was getting treated by a psychiatrist and also went overseas.
To say I didn’t regret what I did to her would be a blatant lie. But I had no other option but to remove myself from her life.
And now…she was back.
Working as my boss.
And had made me sign a contract that has bound me to the company now.
I can’t leave. I can’t say no. I have to report every time they call me.
If I don’t do these, they would not only kick me and Nakamura-san out, but would also blacklist us.
I can’t let that happen.
Not just for my sake but also because of Nakamura-san.
He has a son in middle school, and his whole family depends on him.
The only reason he helped me was that his situation in the past was similar.
So, no. I must do what they say.
“Here,” the same lady who brought me to Sayuri’s chamber, rested a thick pile of papers on the table.
I was stunned.
“Your first work. Cross-check these invoice numbers for duplicates or errors… from printed sheets. You have only two days.”
“…!!” My eyes widened.
This was just absurd.
Not only is this kind of work not something suitable for me, but it was just manual labor.
And this doesn’t even hold importance.
I glanced at the woman with my eyes widened and found her glaring at me.
“This…will help nothing,” I told her.
“Your work isn’t to discern what is helpful and what is not. Do your job or breach the contract.” She bluntly stated, and her voice was heard by the people around me.
I turned silent.
…so this is her way of taking revenge, huh?
“I understand,” I said as I picked the first sheet.
This is my fate.
….
[Third Person POV:]
After handing the papers to Ryuuta, the bespectacled lady walked back to Sayuri’s chamber quietly.
She was greeted by a few employees on the way. It was surprising that everyone already recognized her even though she entered this building this morning.
Regardless, she stepped inside the office and found the young lady staring at the monitor screen.
The older one glanced at the monitor and found the live footage of the accounts department on screen.
She sighed, “You know you could have thrown him out and blacklisted him, right?”
Sayuri grinned, “What’s the fun in that, Rumi?” She asked, “He would have taken several part-time jobs and had continued with his life. I don’t want that.”
She shook her head, leaned back in her seat, and added, “I want to see him getting crushed under physical and mental stress before him. Getting isolated and looking around helplessly. That’s what I wish to see.”
The older one, Rumi, sighed, “Well, he is surely going to get crushed by that much work.”
She just handed three thousand invoices to him. Even if he takes thirty seconds on each one, it will take him twenty hours to finish that.
Shaking her head, she looked at the monitor screen and mumbled under her breath, “But after what he has done to you…he deserves it…more than this.”
Sayuri chuckled, “This is the beginning, my dear Rumi. I am so gonna love each moment of my life from here on.”
Zooming in so that only his face appeared on her screen, Sayuri muttered, “It’s time for payback, my dear Ryuu-kun~”
