Chapter 12: I Drank Coffee and Now Everyone Wants Everything from Me
“…The same as not having a girlfriend…?”
I repeated her words, totally thrown off.
But Luna just kept smiling sweetly.
“Because in the end, Haru-san and I are destined to be together. So it’s totally fine.”
“…How is any of this fine?”
“I didn’t expect to be your first girlfriend anyway… so it’s okay. You’re kind, and sometimes a little forceful too… So I figured you’d be really popular.”
Yeah, no.
That’s not even close to true.
I’ve never been popular in my entire life.
I was about to shut that idea down fast—but before I could say anything, Luna kept going.
“So, even if Haru-san’s dating someone else, I don’t mind at all. …That’s a lie. Honestly, I’d get a tiny bit… like, just a little bit jealous… B-But! I won’t let it bother me!”
You are definitely the type who lets it bother you…
She was trembling as she said it.
And since we were still holding hands, I could feel every little shake—clear as day.
“The beginning… the middle… that part can be with anyone. Because in the end, you’ll end up with me—so it doesn’t matter!”
…Okay, wow?
Luna said it all with so much confidence, I almost felt like I had no choice but to agree with her.
Or at the very least, just nod and go along with it.
Still, being able to say something like that—so firmly, so full of belief that we were “destined” to be together…
Honestly? I kind of admired that.
But at the same time, I knew I wasn’t the kind of guy who deserved that kind of faith.
“B-But… deep down, I still don’t really like it…”
“Huh? Don’t like what?”
“The idea of Haru-san dating someone other than me…”
“A-Ahh, yeah. Okay. I get it now.”
Wait—this conversation was still going?
I thought we’d already wrapped that part up…
“B-But! It’s fine. Really! After all… I’m the first girl Haru-san ever held hands with.”
“…Yeah. That’s true.”
I scratched the back of my neck, a little embarrassed as I said it.
It’s true—Luna was the first girl I ever held hands with.
Well… back in elementary school, technically.
But even if you don’t count that, we are holding hands right now—
So either way, she’s still the first.
And somehow, that just made me feel even more awkward…
“B-But I really don’t like it, okay?! The idea of Haru-san kissing another girl, or hugging her, or—or doing that stuff…”
“…………”
Luna-chan, you’re really going all in on this topic, huh…
You say it doesn’t bother you, but it clearly, definitely does.
And while I sat there drowning in awkward silence, Luna just kept on going.
“Oh! But you know what? I can just overwrite it!”
“Overwrite…?”
“Yup! I’ll overwrite everything. I’m already doing it, right now.”
Luna gently squeezed my hand as she said that.
“…There’s nothing to overwrite, though. It’s already been you, Luna-chan.”
Oh no.
Did I seriously just say that out loud?
The moment the words left my mouth, embarrassment hit me like a truck.
I instinctively looked away—
And Luna went quiet too, her gaze dropping to the floor.
Yep…
Definitely shouldn’t have said that.
We both fell silent.
The only sound in the room was the soft tick, tick of the wall clock—echoing way too loudly in the stillness.
I had no idea how long we sat like that, saying nothing.
Then finally—Luna spoke up.
“…Then give me everything.”
“…Huh?”
Her face was so serious, I couldn’t help but ask again.
“I want all of Haru-san.”
“…………Huhhh???”
“I want you. All of you.”
“…Even though we’re destined to be together anyway?”
It felt weird being the one saying something like that.
But I figured… maybe it’d help calm her down.
“If we’re gonna end up together, then whether it’s now or later doesn’t really matter, right?”
“…I see.”
She nodded with total confidence.
And yeah, when she put it like that…
It kind of made sense.
Sort of.
I half-nodded, half-squinted.
Was that really true?
But before I could even try to unpack it, Luna made it clear—
Thinking time was over.
“I’m new to all of this too… so that makes us even, Haru-san.”
Even…? Even what, exactly?
My brain had already gone completely blank.
Then, as if guiding me somewhere, Luna’s free hand slowly reached toward my chest—and gently stroked it.
Whoa—okay, that’s a weird tingling feeling!?
“Does it tickle?”
“…A l-little bit.”
I tried to play it cool, but my voice completely betrayed me.
Pretty sure the shaking ruined whatever act I was going for.
“Um, Haru-san.”
“…Yeah?”
“Papa and Mama… They’re not coming home tonight.”
“O-Oh… sounds rough.”
…Wonder what she’s doing for dinner then?
“That’s why—I can sleep over.”
“Uh, yeah, no. Absolutely not. That’s definitely a no-go.”
“Why not?”
Even though she sounded like she was pouting, Luna was still smiling—like a hunter who already knew her prey had nowhere left to run.
“B-Because I live alone too, okay?! If a girl your age spends the night at a guy’s place, people’ll start rumors! Misunderstandings!”
“Then let them. There’s no misunderstanding… if we actually do exactly what they’re assuming.”
“Haaahhh!?”
Our relationship was escalating so fast I couldn’t keep up.
My brain just completely gave up trying.
I’d been doing a decent job faking like I wasn’t a total idiot, but… yeah.
Pretty sure I’m a complete idiot after all.
Right then, Luna’s phone buzzed softly.
But she ignored it—and instead, slowly leaned in toward my neck…
“…You sure?”
“I’m sure.”
Okay, hold on.
When I asked “You sure?”, I meant—are you sure you don’t need to check your phone?
But Luna’s “I’m sure” probably… meant something totally different.
Before I could clarify—
Her phone suddenly started buzzing like crazy.
I glanced at the screen.
It said Mama.
Luna let out a small sigh, clearly annoyed, then picked up the call.
“What is it, Mama? Wait—what…? Seriously? That’s what happened?”
Her face, which had been all bright and cheerful a second ago, started to shift.
“Y-Yeah… I mean, I’m happy, but… uh-huh. Where am I? At my boyfriend’s house.”
WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!
My heart practically leapt out of my chest at how casually she dropped that bomb.
“Okay. Got it. I’ll head home right now.”
She ended the call, then slowly let go of my hand—looking completely, heartbreakingly disappointed.
“I’m sorry, Haru-san. I have to go home after all.”
“R-Right… Was that your mom?”
“Yes. Looks like she finished work early tonight. That never happens.”
Luna looked like she was on the verge of tears, and I had no idea how to make her feel better—
So I just blurted out the first thing that came to mind.
“Then… I’ll walk you to the station.”
“Today was… almost perfect. But I’ll definitely come again.”
“Yeah… uh, sure. Anytime.”
I didn’t say anything else.
Just quietly walked her to the station.
“…Is this good luck or bad luck?”
I muttered to myself, staring up at the night sky on the way back.
…Tomorrow is the day I go on a date with Mitsuki.
