Chapter 60: False Victory

There were hundreds of Crusaders in the church ground. Our plan was to defeat all of them and bring the Pope to a certain location. 

I shrugged my shoulders as I looked at Kaltz, who was burning with anger in front of me. At the same time, I recalled the conversation I had with my comrades the day before yesterday. 

“Are you really sure about this? Wouldn’t it be better if we just kidnap the Pope alone-“

“No, we have to kill them all, Chloe.”

Rielle threw that question at me. I clapped once and grinned.

It was quite risky and it would require a high amount of magic. However, I believed this plan was necessary in order to kill all of them.

It seemed I received more hatred than I deserved, but I didn’t really care either way. Kaltz was the character that I had controlled for four years in my past life and it was true I had some sort of attachment with him, but now he was nothing but an enemy.

Kaltz gathered all of the magic power within him and channeled it into his holy sword. The yellow aura grew thicker and bigger, until his entire arm was engulfed in its radiance. The yellow aura blazing brightly, almost blinding. 

Not only did his speed increase significantly, but so did the amount of magic power he had and the control he had over his skills. 

Smirking, I drew the sword I favored the most in the game—Britta.

“Kaltz-sama! We will support you!”

“Magic unit! Back Kaltz-sama up! Give him buff and bombard the demon with a long-range magic attack!”

Black aura emerged from Britta and Kaltz jumped at me once more. This time, I leaped straight at him, meeting him straight on. Gradually, the sky was filled with rain of light arrows and beneath them, my aura and Kaltz clashed. 

“Die! Dieeee!!”

“Ha. Too bad… You’re the one who’s going to die!!”

Our swords collided and waves of energy surged out from our collision. He struck his sword that was aimed to slash me and I aimed for his neck. He blocked my sword and jumped back, creating a small distance between us before he jumped again to aim at my waist. Dodging his attack, I formed a shield with black magic to deflect the incoming rain of arrows. 

“Fire! FIREEE!! KILL THE DEMON!!”

Amidst the chaotic situation, memories of my past life flashed through my mind. In the game I played, the boss attacks kept raining down like a manifestation of madness. I dodged them all skillfully and unleashed my skill in the most effective way possible based on the cycle of the boss’ attack. Yes. This situation was the same. I move my sword swiftly to block Kaltz’s attack while dodging the arrows simultaneously.

Black and white swords clashed, creating a dazzling flash of lights. Gradually, Kaltz’s face became even more panicked. This reaction was to be expected though. After all, this was the fastest he was ever be and yet, none of his attacks went through.

The bloodied Kai then stood up from the ground. The desecrated body suddenly appeared in front of Kaltz.
