Chapter 47: The Pope’s Mistake

We headed to Zinnerman-san’s blacksmith shop, which was located in a remote place. We had been staying in our rooms for three weeks straight, so we hadn’t visited Zinnerman-san until now. I had been making Power Elixirs like a slave to meet the people’s demands and furthermore… I wasn’t confident enough that I could cure Yenichka. However, a lot of time had passed. I was more confident now, especially since I had proved that the Power Elixirs I made had the same effect as the one in the game. 

“Aaahh… You guys have come!!”

“Yeah. It’s been a while, Zinnerman-san.”

Perhaps he had heard the rumor about Power Elixir since Zinnerman-san looked visibly relieved upon seeing us. I glanced at the stairs leading to the second floor and took a bottle of Power Elixir from my pocket. 

“Let’s talk about the artifact later. I want to make your daughter drink this first.”

“Ahhh! Thank you…! Come, come this way!”

He then guided us to a simple room with only a single bed, a round chair and a small table in it. There, on the bed against the wall, there was a woman lying still like a corpse. This was Yenichka-san. She looked exactly like she did in the game. With a faint smile on his face, Zinnerman-san spoke.

“Can you… Can you really cure her? Can she be really cured this time? Can I believe in you…?”

His voice was laced with anxiety.

“Yeah, I’m pretty sure this potion will work out. Actually, this potion I have has a stronger effect than the normal Power Elixirs circulating in the market.”

“Wha-…?! H-How?”

“Well~ I have my own ways~ Hahaha~”

Her complexion was completely pallid. It was clear to see her vitality was dwindling. I activated magic vision and sure enough, I could tell from a single glance alone that her whole body was infused with the curse of black magic. The flow of magic in her body was off. 

The Power Elixir I had brought was created by mixing a lot of herbs with holy magic attribute in it. I took inspiration from how to make antidotes in the game and added one new herb to the original recipe of Power Elixir. Of course, I had tasted this potion beforehand myself. I didn’t experience any negative side effects, so it should be fine for Yenichka-san to consume this. 

I opened the lid and carefully fed the potion to Yenichka-san, making sure not to spill any drop. There was a sliver of consciousness left in Yenichka-san though,as could be seen from the way she swallowed the potion. 

Now that she had donned the whole potion, we waited for any reaction. Not long after we waited…

“….Fa-…. Father…?”

A feeble voice, akin to a miracle, echoed in this quiet room. 

“….YENI!!!”

“Father…”

“Yeni… Yeni…!! Ahhh!! Ahhh!! Thank goodness… Thank goodness…!! Yeni…!!”

I stepped back to let Zinnerman-san had their moments and I checked Yenichka-san’s magic flow using magic vision. The remnants of black magic that had been coagulating like cancer was nowhere to be seen anymore.

“You did it, Kai.”

Chloe smiled as she patted me on my shoulder. Nia, who had secretly gripped my hand at some point, also had a tender expression on her face. We watched the scene unfolding before us silently.

About 30 minutes later, Yenichka-san fell asleep again. Zinnerman-san had calmed down too.

“Thank you, thank you so much…!! If it weren’t for you all… I doubt I would ever been able to talk with Yeni again!!”

“…I’m glad you can talk with her again. Ah, Zinnerman-san. About the payment for the promised artifact-“

“No, I don’t need any gold from you.”

“Huh?”
