The Pope exclaimed as he slammed his desk. The donations and the sale of holy water was the church’s most important way of making money. In this country, the church’s authority was absolute. The people of the empire flocked to holy water and donated to the church without any question. However, recently the church had become more daring in their intention to make money.

Although the church never said donations were obligatory, but they used other means to force people into donating. Either by guilt-tripping the people on the pretense of faith or forcing them to buy the holy water. Of course, people were not pleased and amidst this, there came the Power Elixir. Of course people started flocking to the Power Elixir. The Power Elixir proved to be tens of times more effective than holy water. That was only natural though. Since the holy water sold by the church was nothing but normal well water. Moreover, the Power Elixir sold by the Raudi Trading Company was much cheaper than the church’s holy water. There was really no benefit in buying the holy water. 

“Raudi Trading Company… Shit… That shitty brat! I should’ve burned her at the stake along with her mother!! Shit!! Even though I was planning to toy with her body as I pleased and throw her away afterwards… Darn it!!”

The words coming from the Pope’s mouth were so vile that a normal clergy would’ve faint upon hearing it. This fat and disgusting man was no longer a clergyman. His faith had long since dissolved, disappearing into the sweet temptation of materialism and carnal pleasure. This man only knew how to abuse his authority to allow him to do so many despicable things.

“Why me?! Why do I need to make Power Elixirs for 24 hours straight?! Chloe! Say something!”

Chloe chuckled softly as she patted my shoulder.

“Kai, if you’re tired then just drink the Power Elixir. You will be bursting with stamina and magic power in no time.”

Overwhelmed with joy, Rielle dove to me and hugged me tightly. I wrapped my arms around her out of instinct.
