Chapter 30: First Death

The shadows were dancing. At least, that was how it appeared to me. This was the skill from a job that was once considered as the most ‘cheating’ in the world of Dark Blood Online… Or to be precise, the world I was in now.

Chloe’s prowess was so formidable that Nia couldn’t help but to open her eyes wide in shock. Now that she had no hesitation left, all that remained in her body was speed. 

One moment she stabbed Gebels straight on, and the next moment she was circling behind him, aiming for his neck. Just when Gebels reached his hand out, Chloe jumped, curling her body midair and used Gebels’ arm as a foothold to thrust her knife into his bosom. 

The shallow wounds Chloe unleashed on Gebels gradually accumulated. Moreover, it was clear to see Gebels wasn’t used to using his monstrous body. His movements were full of openings.

As I felt Nia tightening her grasp on me, I stared at Gebels, whose red eyes glowed from a distance. Of course, his mind manipulation magic had no effect on us. As for Chloe, she always made sure to close her eyes while facing Gebels. She was fighting by relying solely on her senses. Despite the handicap, Chloe managed to drive Gebels to the corner. It was no wonder why Gebels was panicking.

“That guy…I can kill him, right?”

Chloe turned her attention back to me again as she asked me that question with a serious expression on her face. It seemed she had completely regained her confidence. Her eyes were shining without any shred of doubt in sight. I glanced at Gebels and smirked. 

“Sure. You can kill him, but…”

I snapped my fingers.

“Can you wait a little bit longer?”

After all, Gebels needed to die about 5000 times more.”

What’s happening?

Gebels was at a loss. The calculations he had perfected in his mind had went awry. 

Why? How?

Just a moment ago, he had the upper hand, and yet now he was being toyed around by that trash. Nothing made sense. Just how come that girl knew how to counter his mind manipulation skill? Not to mention the girl’s movement, it was almost as if she could predict his attack. She moved swiftly and accurately, leaving no room for doubt. Gebels didn’t understand. Something was wrong.

However, Gebels’ words were cut short. Suddenly, he felt a strange sensation inside his body. The faces of the dead, the ones whose souls he had tainted, all of them began to emerge from his flesh. Over 500 hollow eyes stared at him, causing him to tremble. 

However, the real agony had just started.

“Wha-Wha-?! ARGHHHHHHHH!!”

The faces of the dead began to swell and explode. Dark, viscous fluid sprayed everywhere. The searing pain of his skin being burned and blistering from the explosions forced Gebels to scream out loud in pain. 

“What-… Wha-What is happening…! ARGHHHHHHHHHH!!”

Amidst his screeching scream, the girl spoke again. 

“This is your reality.”

Caught in the vice of those red eyes, Gebels found himself unable to utter a single word. Distorted cries filled the space around him, reverberating endlessly. His body burst apart like fireworks, every inch of his body exploded. The pain was immeasurable, beyond anything he ever knew. Gebels couldn’t even scream anymore. 

“Ergh….. Gaahhhhh!!”

“This… Is the pain you’ve inflicted on others.”

Even amidst the ringing pain, the voice of the girl with glowing red eyes was crystal clear. He wanted to escape. He wanted to run from this pain. However, he couldn’t. The pain was so overwhelming, so crucifying that Gebels hoped death would be the better option. 

“And this…”

And yet, even so…

“Is your first death.”

The eternal pain showed no sign of ending.
