Chapter 111: EPILOGUE – Brimming With Happiness and Love

Five years had passed since the war that drove the Empire to its destruction came to an end. Cleaning up after the war proved to be much more challenging than I had anticipated. Of course, military strength and economic power weren’t the only things I cared about. Creating a proper place for Alwyn was important as well.

After I finished half of my work, I stepped out into the city and caught the sight of Alwyn treating a patient. She never flaunted her position, still dedicating herself to treat the sick in person throughout the city.

I calmed the people who immediately dropped to their knees upon seeing me and then, I smiled at Alwyn, the first female pope. She was blushing happily before she said. 

“Your Majesty, you need to take proper breaks every now and then, you know? No matter how important the tasks awaiting you, but you mustn’t overdo it, okay? Your health is the most important thing.”

“Yeah, of course. The amount of work I need to do has been decreasing. I’ve been able to relax a bit no—”

“I received reports from Nia and Rielle. They said you’ve been pulling all-nighters for three days in a row, though?”

I immediately flinched. My shoulders tensing up. When I turned my head, I saw Alwyn looking up at me with a broad smile on her face, but… Her eyes weren’t smiling at all. The corner of her lips were lifted into a smile, but her eyes were locked on me.

“Are you listening, Your Majesty?????”

“I-I get it! I will take a break!! I will really take a break for real!!”

No, but… Nia, Rielle!! Just when did you all become so close to the point you all could gang up on me like this?! Well… Five years had passed since the war. It was only natural for them to become close, but…!

Hence why, I couldn’t really blame them. I declared in front of everyone that I would become king UNTIL all the mess had been sorted. However, now that we had finished clearing all the mess from the war, the people started saying how they didn’t want anyone else to become the king. In the end… I found myself burdened with so much work that I couldn’t even rest at night…!!

“But still, staying up all night is not good. No matter how sturdy your body is, you need to take a proper rest at night.”

…Well. It should be fine now. Most of the work was already done anyway. 

I hugged Nia tightly and slowly stood up with her in my arms. Nia buried her face in my chest and clung to me tightly. Just when we were about to leave my office, the door suddenly opened.

Still nestled in my embrace, Nia turned to the other four. All of them slowly nodded and approached me.

I truly didn’t know why things ended up in this way, but one thing I knew for sure. Now, our daily life was brimming with happiness and love.
