Upon hearing my words, the Guide made a visibly displeased face. The scene it had showed me before still lingered in my mind. A sight where everyone was living happily. Everyone was smiling. There was no way I would abandon that fate.

“Rest assured. I won’t kill you right away.”

My anger flared up like a blazing fire. My body was engulfed in fury. Seeing my reaction, the Guide lifted the corner of his torn mouth into a smirk.

Right at that moment, a wave of magic power combusted. Dark purple particles collided, creating an incredible tempest. My arm tingled from the impact, but I knew I mustn’t lose focus just because of that. With every surge of anger, I forced myself to think. Think, think, think. How could I win this? I manifested my magic power into the shape of a sword and swung it toward the monster. The Guide blocked my attack with one hand while trying to kick me with his fist. Already anticipating that move, I jumped and turned my body to get behind him. The kick I had launched on his neck earlier was effective. His neck might be his weak point! However, my sword was once again blocked by his palm. He grabbed my blade tightly. Sensing that he was about to send me flying again, I released the sword from my hand and stepped back. The sword made from my magic disintegrated into dust. The Guide was way too fast. I couldn’t afford to lose focus, even for a second. I would die if I failed to keep up with his speed.

“…Tch.”

I placed one hand against my ribs. My broken ribs were still throbbing in pain. I tried to mitigate the pain by using the healing skill I had taken from Alwyn. 

Think, think. What should I do? Attacking him with a big move wouldn’t be effective. I was at a disadvantage in close combat, but if I tried to engage in a long distance fight with him, he would close the gap in an instant.

I saw it. I didn’t miss it. The Guide’s eyes flickered for a split second. His gaze was fixed on my hand, to be precise, the hand that was imbued with holy magic.

I might had found a clue. I withdrew my hand from my chest and turned my attention to the Guide again. The Guide had an incredulous look on his face, as if he didn’t expect I would be able to wield holy magic despite the nature of my magic. However, I had no obligation to explain that to him. I conjured another magic sword into my hand. Purple particles scattered about and I took a deep breath before I closed the distance between us in the next second.

Startled by my sudden move, the Guide instinctively took a step back. I seized that opportunity and swung my sword at it. 

“Ha!”

My attack pattern was unbelievably simple. I could understand why the Guide scoffed at me. He easily gripped my blade again, but… My main weapon wasn’t the sword. My true weapon was… My fist. 

My fist was glowing in a yellow light, not a dark purple glow. I immediately released my sword and focused my power into my right hand. I swung my fist, which was charged with holy energy, I slammed it into his chest. In an instant, the Guide’s skin was literally torn apart from the impact. 

“ARGHHHH!?!?”

My punch was proven to be effective. The Guide was sent flying. He only came to a stop after breaking several trees in his path. 

“Huff…”

I clenched and unclenched my right fist a few times while thinking about the situation so far. I had found a good way to fight him, but holy magic wasn’t my forte. I didn’t have enough holy power within me to defeat him and I couldn’t use this technique repeatedly either. I needed to target his weak point. I had to aim for his vital point. It was clear to see a long battle would put me at a significant disadvantage.

“YOU…! How can you use that magic when you have the power of a demon?!”

My body was floating in the air. A violent dizziness and nausea washed over me like a raging wave. He broke more bones and I could feel my consciousness begin to fade. But I couldn’t give in. I couldn’t. I must not lose. If I had time to writhe in pain, I might as well use that time to think about my next move. The impact sent me flying and as soon as I landed, I placed both hands on the ground. The Guide immediately charged at me like a wild beast, not giving me a chance to recuperate. An explosion erupted between us. 

“UGH-?!”

I had forcibly channeled my magic power into the ground, causing the earth right in front of me to explode. Dust and debris rose into the air and I activated my magic vision. He was… Over there!

“DIE…!!”

Clenching my fist, I lunged at the Guide. This time, my fist didn’t glow in the dark. It was glowing in a yellow hue, overflowing with holy power. I forced my body to move, even though the pain from the broken bones were making me feel dizzy. His weak point… His weak point… The heart!!

“-?! YOU…!!”

“EAT THISSSSS!!”

An explosion erupted between us again. His skin was torn apart from my fist and within that moment, I saw it.

I saw a cube inside his body. A part of his body was exposed because of my fist. The cube reminded me of the cube that the Crown Prince had used…

“ARGH-?! COUGH!! COUGH!!“

But my shoulder was suddenly gripped by him. He was crushing my bones with his grip and so, I twisted my body out of reflex. After the cloud of dust dissipated, I could see it. A literal grim reaper was standing before me. 

“…I’ve got you now, monster.”

“!?”

I tried to create a distance between us, but my effort was in vain. He lifted me up and slammed me onto the ground. 

“UGH-?!”

Before I could scream in pain, he punched me in the stomach. His fist, which was infused with strong magic power, crushed my insides. I coughed up black blood in return. 

“Argh!! Gaggh…!!”

My vision was spinning, but I could saw his heart slowly covered with newly regenerated skin. The glowing white rube was once again buried beneath his flesh, disappearing from my sight. The onslaught of violence didn’t stop there. He slammed his fist to my face and shredded one of my arms with a magic orb. Excruciating pain surged through me. The pain was so intense that I almost fainted from the pain. Blood was flowing out of my body like a broken dam.

But I still didn’t give up. With my remaining working hand, I summoned something sharp and long, but he quickly grabbed my wrist. He once again threw me flying. 

I managed to concentrate magic power in my body to avoid death, but I was dying now. I was laying face down on the ground. I could only raise my neck ever so slightly to stare at the Guide. The monster with glowing yellow eyes looked at me incredulously.

“I will be honest. I was planning to toy with me, but that wouldn’t be right. Not against someone like you. I will put you out of your misery soon.”

He conjured another double-edge sword in his hand. I could only watch from the ground as the sword took a solid shape. 

Is this how it ends? Is this really the end?

My consciousness was engulfed in despair.

No. I can’t let it end like this. I have to protect them. I don’t give a damn about the fate of this world. I need to protect them. I need to protect Nia, Chloe, Rielle, Alwyn and Brien.

“Priests!! Hurry up!! Heal Kai-sama!! Quickly!!!”

It was the voice of the members of the Resistance, who should’ve returned to our base.
