I Got Reincarnated as a Villainous Noble, and When I Tried to Create an All-Male Academy to Avoid a Bad Ending, for Some Reason the Gender Ratio Reversed? - Chapter 26.2
Chapter 26.2: A Day Off with the Maid
She’s puffing out her flat chest saying that, but sorry, I seriously don’t remember being taken care of by her at all.
She’s doing great as a maid now, but back when we were kids she was super selfish.
“Have fun, you two. Rose, try not to drag him around too much, okay?”
“It’s fine. I’ll keep a close eye on him so Ol-sama doesn’t get lost.”
Yeah, she’s probably still selfish even now.
The exchange didn’t really feel like something between the protagonist and a maid, but for me it actually felt kinda nice.
“See you later.”
“Heading out.”
And with that, we left the mansion.
※
The town was surprisingly peaceful. You wouldn’t even think there’d just been a monster panic.
The fact that it was bustling like a proper holiday was pretty much all thanks to Fran, the church, and the adventurers.
――Hero Vista.
That’s what people were calling the protagonist who took down a wyvern all by himself. As long as he’s around, the town’s safe. The hero will definitely protect us.
Rumors like that were spreading, so everyone was totally relaxed. It was the image strategy Fran came up with.
Originally they were gonna treat me like the hero, but I refused with everything I had, so they ended up hyping up the protagonist as the hero instead.
Probably better that way since it follows the original story.
Anyway, so mostly Rose was leading the way as we wandered around town.
“There’s this cake shop I’ve been curious about. They’ve got tables inside and you can have coffee with the sweets.”
“Oh, cool.”
“Today I’m gonna go all out and enjoy as many sweets as I want. I wanna try several kinds, so please prepare your stomach ahead of time.”
“I can’t eat that many sweets, y’know?”
“It’s fine. Sweets go in a separate stomach.”
Maybe for Rose, but not for me.
Still, she didn’t care and just kept dragging me along by the arm.
Once we got inside the shop we were shown to a table right away.
After we finished ordering from the menu, Rose suddenly looked over at me.
“What’s up?”
“It just feels like it’s been forever since we did something like this.”
“Yeah, things have been busy lately.”
“Not just lately—since way back. Ever since Ol-sama went all dark and edgy, actually.”
“Dark and edgy?”
The moment I thought that, I realized it was from before I remembered my past-life memories.
Back then I was barreling straight toward being the perfect villain noble. Acting like a total jerk, causing trouble for everyone around me—no doubt about it.
“Kinda like a rebellious phase, I guess? Honestly, you were pretty hard to approach back then, but one day you just… changed.”
“…………”
“You met Fran-sama and turned your life around, right? I didn’t get it at the time, but now I do. ——This is what love looks like.”
“Absolutely not.”
“Hehe, you’re so bad at being honest. I’m your maid—I see everything up close. You definitely changed after meeting Fran-sama. As your childhood friend, I was a tiny bit jealous, but it’s definitely a good thing.”
“…Yeah.”
Guess that’s how it looks from the outside.
The real trigger was remembering my past life, but Fran’s influence probably wasn’t zero either.
If I’d never met her, would I even still be here right now?
No idea. Maybe I would’ve run away from town to avoid the doom flags. That was definitely a real possibility.
“I’m really happy, y’know. That I get to go out with Ol-sama like this again.”
Rose gave a small laugh. The way she looked was so elegant—like Maris-san—and for a second I couldn’t help staring.
“I’m so happy I get to be Ol-sama’s maid.”
“…What’s with the sudden seriousness?”
“Just felt like saying it.”
Her voice was a little more honest than usual.
“Your personality’s changed a bit—for better or worse—but the kind part of you hasn’t changed at all.”
“Yeah?”
If she thinks that, then personally I’m pretty grateful.
“Whoa, the cakes are here! Ol-sama, let’s go full power!”
I looked up at her words and the table was covered in cakes. Easily five or more different kinds at a glance.
“I can’t eat all this, though?”
“It’s all about willpower. Your body’s bigger than mine, so do your best.”
Even if you say that, my stomach only holds so much.
Still, seeing her smile like that made me think maybe I could push myself a little.
Now’s the time for this villain noble to show what he’s really made of.
※
In the end, I barely managed to finish the cakes.
Toward the end I was so full I can hardly remember it, but I forced it down with coffee and somehow made it.
Honestly the cakes were delicious, and if it had just been one I would’ve been super satisfied.
Rose looked really happy too, so yeah, I’m glad we came.
“Ughhh… I can’t move. Carry me on your back, please.”
In the end I had to give her a piggyback ride home, which was rough, but since I’d recently carried a classmate on my back for other reasons, I actually handled it pretty easily.
Rose is pretty tiny, after all.
But of course my life never lets things end peacefully. The moment I let my guard down, something unexpected always hits.
“……………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………Ol-sama.”
It happened the second we got back to the mansion and opened the door.
Someone was standing right in the entrance like a statue.
“…………………………………………”
The person was giving off insane pressure, and the air in the room froze instantly.
That person turned their gaze toward my back, confirmed I was carrying Rose, and smiled.
“Welcome home, Ol-sama.”
“…I’m back.”
“You two look like you had so much fun. Meanwhile I was buried in work and completely exhausted. I was really looking forward to getting my Ol-sama fix during my tiny little break.”
The person approaching me with eyes full of resentment—Fran—stopped right in front of me and said,
“You’re not supposed to lay hands on the maid, you know?”
Her voice was terrifyingly low.
A chill shot straight down my spine. It felt like I’d just been stabbed or something.
“N-no, it’s definitely not like that.”
I set Rose down and tried to clear up the misunderstanding.
“……………………”
But Fran didn’t say anything. She just leaned in close to my chest and sniffed.
“I smell something sweet. What kind of sweet things did you do?”
“We just ate sweets. That’s it.”
“What kind of sweet things did you eat, what kind of sweet conversation did you have, what kind of sweet date did you go on?”
“No—I mean—”
“Answer honestly.”
Fran was smiling brightly.
Which meant she was seriously pissed, and
“…I-I just ate sweets with the maid, gave the maid a piggyback ride, and came home. That’s all.”
“That’s exactly the problem.”
Fran said it clearly.
“Even though you already have me as your fiancée.”
She muttered that with a smile still on her face, but her eyes had this wild, beast-like ferocity.
“…Looks like I need to overwrite this.”
“…………Ah.”
That one sentence made me understand everything.
——I’m done for.
Looks like there’s no escape.
And so my day off ended by getting completely overwritten.
