I Got Fired as a Hero Today - Vol.2 Chapter 39: Minfa Follows Arata
“Hey, you. What are you doing?”
While processing at the counter, Minfa called out to Arata.
“Minfa-san.”
Sarah is familiar with her party because she is in charge of it.
“Arata-san, this is Minfa-san, an adventurer who belongs to a party called the ‘Grasslands’ Dawn Brigade.'”
“Hello. I’m Arata.”
Arata bowed.
“Thank you for earlier. You really helped me out.”
Minfa thanked him, but Arata, the person in question, tilted his head in confusion, wondering what for. And tilted his head.
“You helped me out from Kyouki, remember?”
“Even if you say I helped, I just pointed it out; it wasn’t a big deal.”
“How humble. You’d think an adventurer would at least ask for a reward. So, what are you doing?”
“I’m currently taking on a wild herb gathering quest.”
“Huh?! Right now? It’s going to get dark soon.”
“Well, I can only do it from this time onwards.”
Arata had hero training and other commitments, so he couldn’t take on guild requests during the day.
“Well then, you’re quite high-ranked. So that’s why Kyouki… huh.”
“If it’s about the guild rank, it’s F, though?”
“Huh? Ehhhhh?!”
Minfa let out a strange voice.
“Wait, you helped me out from that Kyouki even though you’re Guild Rank F? And now you’re heading into the Night Forest?!”
Minfa couldn’t hide her surprise.
“Arata-san, this is a burlap sack. Would you like to add it?”
“Yeah, about two.”
Arata paid the fee and purchased an additional burlap bag.
“Hey. You said your name was Arata, right? How long have you been an adventurer?”
Even though Arata and Sarah are processing the paperwork, Minfa interrupts.
“Maybe about ten days?”
“Ten days? Hey, Sarah-san, you need to stop too. The forest at night is dangerous for beginners, you know. Doesn’t this person understand anything?”
“Minfa-san, we guild staff cannot go against the adventurers’ intentions. We can make suggestions, but ultimately, it’s up to them to choose freely.”
Sarah knew that Arata was capable of handling requests at night, but she deliberately did not inform the other adventurers.
Because the abilities of adventurers can be such valuable information.
“Hmm. Well then, I’ll go too. Arata, let’s form an impromptu party together.”
“”Eh?””
Arata and Sarah chimed in with that suggestion.
“Arata. I’ve been an adventurer for three months now. So I’m more experienced than you. It’s safer to go with two people rather than one, right?”
Minfa patted her chest lightly.
“That’s true. Arata-san has been lost once before, after all. It’s reassuring to have someone around in case something happens.”
“Huh? You’ve been stranded before? That’s dangerous.”
“…Danger is part and parcel of being an adventurer, right?”
“Yeah, but… So? What are you going to do? You’re going with me, right?”
Minfa pressed closer to Arata. Her face was near. On top of that, Minfa’s cleavage was visible and alluring, making Arata nod involuntarily.
“Alright! Sarah-san, please add me to Arata’s quest too.”
Saying that, she presented her guild card.
“Yes, understood.”
Saying that, Sarah proceeds with the procedure.
“Arata, I’m going to the inn to pick up my gear, so wait for me at the main gate of the royal capital.”
“Understood.”
Arata and Minfa left the guild.
“Have a good day.”
Sarah saw the two off. It was more reassuring than going on a solo mission. Even though she knew Arata had the ability, Sarah was still worried and felt relieved.
“Sarah. Are you okay with that?”
“Yes? What is it?”
“Why did you bring that kid along? With your abilities, you could achieve great results on your own.”
“But, considering that unexpected situations can arise, and since Minfa-san is getting used to being an adventurer, it should be fine──”
“Hey, what are you talking about?”
Izumi interrupted Sarah’s statement.
“What is it?”
Sarah tilted her head.
“Are you serious? That kid from earlier. Minfa, right? Didn’t you notice how interested she was in Arata? And you just went ahead and made arrangements. Is that okay? Two young people are alone in the forest at night. Anything could happen, you know?”
“Huh? Huh?”
For a moment, Sarah didn’t understand what was being said.
At that moment, Sarah was called out with “Excuse me.”
When she looked, there was a man waiting at the counter.
The appearance is not that of an adventurer. Rather, it’s a shabby outfit, with dirt on the hands and face, and grime present.
“I just heard a little while ago that there’s a job cleaning the sewer.”
“Yes, we do. Would you like to take it?”
“Please.”
Then, the friends who had been watching from a distance also gathered at the counter.
They said they were going as a group of five. None of them looked like adventurers at all.
After presenting the guild card, Sarah explained.
“Cleaning the sewer is from 10 AM to 6 PM. Please gather at the sewer entrance at 10 AM. The person in charge will unlock the door. Payment is based on a commission system, so it will be determined by the amount of garbage bags distributed. The entrance will be locked until 6 PM. This is because there was previous misconduct. Some people brought garbage from elsewhere. Meals will be provided. There is a break room inside the entrance. There are no restrictions on the area to be cleaned. Do you have any questions?”
“Does garbage include things like sand or stones?”
“That’s not allowed. The bag has a mesh structure, and anything that can slip through it is basically not allowed. Wood will be considered trash.”
All five nod.
“How long will it last?”
“Yeah… two weeks, please.”
“Understood. Then please start tomorrow.”
Seeing Sarah quickly complete the procedure, her senior colleague Izumi
(This person probably doesn’t realize it, but the way she treats that Arata kid is obviously different.)
She thought.
