- Vol.1 Chapter 14: Arata, Goes to the Morning Market With Suzu
As if to take Chloe’s place, two beautiful high school heroes came to visit Arata.
For Arata, who had been keeping his distance from the hero members, it was a bolt from the blue.
“So, how’s it going?”
Hinako sat in the chair next to Arata’s bed and asked.
Suzu also sits down accordingly.
“I’ll get better if I rest for a day.”
“It’s a good thing it didn’t turn into a big deal. Suzu was really worried.”
Suzu looked worried.
“I didn’t see it, but there was so much blood, I was shocked.”
She said.
They were also training, and the time Arata and Chloe spent crossing swords was less than a minute. It’s only natural that they didn’t see it.
“Since I practiced kendo when I was a student, I thought I could do it, but it was impossible.”
“I see, well, it can’t be helped. After all, she’s a knight. She’s a pro, a real pro.”
Hinako said it as cheerfully as she could.
Most of the heroes had only seen the part where Arata was defeated by Chloe, so their evaluation of Arata had dropped.
His magic is weak.
His sword is weak too.
He lacks cooperation.
Since Suzu said she wanted to visit, Hinako just came along.
Hinako didn’t understand why Suzu was concerned about Arata.
He just looked like an ordinary guy.
“Is it time… now? Suzu.”
“Yeah.”
Suzu answered while looking at Arata.
“See you later, Arata. We’re leaving.”
Hinako stood up to take her leave.
“Ah, thank you for going out of your way.”
Suzu also stands up. At that moment,
“Arata, again… right?”
Just a little, Suzu’s hand brushed against Arata’s fingertips.
It was light and cool.
“Y-yeah. Again.”
Arata was completely focused on the fingertip that had been hit.

After taking another nap, Arata leaves the cathedral.
He was told to rest, but for now, he decided to head back to the dormitory.
His ankle hurts. He also has a headache.
Arata thought that healers could cure things in an instant, but it seemed he was mistaken.
According to Chloe, the high-ranking healer who treated her said that she just needed to rest for a day.
If it heals in one day, it could be called magic.
The world they were summoned to might not be as much like a game world as he imagined.
However, he still thinks he has some sort of cheat built into him.
He doesn’t know to what extent, but he thinks they should acquire it now.
If possible, he wanted to leave the hero team.
However, even if he left now, he felt like he wouldn’t be able to survive in this world.
“Even so, it’s been a month…”
Even with trial employment, it’s about three months, so if they say it’s short, it is short.
The moon was out.
The big moon and the small moon.
“The moon is beautiful…”
Suddenly, he thought of Kotoko.
He got fed up with himself for not being able to move on.
◆◆◆
Morning. His phone was out of battery, and the alarm didn’t go off.
He suddenly felt like it and decided to go to the cafeteria.
There was a girl gazing out the window.
“Good morning.”
Arata called out to the figure from behind.
She looks back.
“Good morning.”
The beautiful girl who answers.
“Suzu, do you know about the morning market?”
“Morning market?”
“I heard it from Kyle-san. It’s a market that operates in the morning. That’s why it’s called a morning market.”
“I see.”
“Apparently, a hero who was summoned in the past introduced things like miso and soy sauce, and now they’re being sold at the morning market.”
“I see.”
“Shall we go now?”
“Yeah, sure.”
The two walk side by side.
Arata was told to rest, but he wasn’t that obedient of a person.
It was lively, with people browsing the stores and shopping.
“Are you buying miso and soy sauce today?”
“After all, you want to drink miso soup, right?”
“Yeah.”
They were able to obtain them.
He had a little taste, and it felt just as good as the food in Japan.
Suzu is the type of girl who is somewhat spacey and people say they can’t tell what she’s thinking.
In the crowd, it seemed quite difficult to walk.
After being swept away, she ends up drifting apart from Arata.
Arata took Suzu’s hand.
It was never untied.
She was slightly looking down while watching Arata.
He feels like it’s been a while since he held a girl’s hand.
Her hands are colder compared to Arata’s, so she must have poor circulation. He was thinking about such trivial things.
Arata and Suzu bought a sandwich stuffed with meat and vegetables, vegetable juice, and rice topped with some kind of soup from a stall, and sat on a bench to eat.
They say the early bird gets the worm, but if waking up early means he can have a meal with a beautiful girl, then he might as well keep waking up early.
“Is Arata sleeping all day today?”
“Since I’m here, I might as well go see the town in this other world.”
“But…”
Suzu touched the bandage on his head gently.
“Well, it’ll be fine.”
After saying that, Arata stands up.
When returning to the dormitory, Arata didn’t take Suzu’s hand, but Suzu grabbed the fabric of Arata’s upper arm and followed him.
Suzu went to hero training.
Arata leaves the dormitory once again.
Since he had a bit of spare change from the gathering quest, he decided to go to the tool shop.
He gazes at the traditional tool shop’s storefront for a while.
“Cool.”
Arata murmured.
When he went inside, the old man was the manager.
He didn’t know what most of the products were used for.
Arata heard about it because he had what he was looking for.
“I want a starter pack of healing potions.”
“Are you a new adventurer?”
The manager said after looking at the guild card presented for payment.
“That’s right. I came because the book said anyone could make a simple healing potion.”
“That’s unusual. There aren’t many people who read books in this country.”
So that’s why the library was empty.
It seems that they are too busy with life to read books.
Information is passed through people. It seems he acquired it through communication.
It probably means that there are many emotionally weak people.
However, it is said that they can still live because people cooperate with each other to survive.
“Even though it’s a healing potion, this one is made from easily obtainable materials, so its effect is just average.”
He took out the things from the bag, which included herbs and other items. There were also tools and instructions for making things.
It’s exactly the kind of beginner’s potion-making set.
“Since there aren’t many herbs, it would be good to buy a little more.”
“Then, add one more bag of medicinal herbs and antidote herbs.”
“Sure.”
As a hero, while the country takes care of his living expenses, he will try anything and gain strength.
That’s the plan, so Arata intends to use his time effectively.

He still has a headache.
Even though he was told to rest, he didn’t listen.
He came to the slums.
When he thinks of slums, he has the image of them being intimidating, but it actually just feels like a regular poor neighborhood.
“Hey, you over there.”
He was called out.
The sight of an old woman who looks just like she’s doing fortune-telling.
“Something?”
“Watch and see.”
Arata is the type who doesn’t believe in fortune-telling. However, in this other world, such cult-like things hold power.
Magic is one of them too.
Thinking that it was something a fool couldn’t do, Arata sat down in the chair.
The old woman holds her hand over the crystal and mutters something under her breath.
Then the crystal began to glow.
“Oh, this is…”
Arata leaned forward. He expected a statement like, “You are actually a genius or something, invincible in this world.”
“You’re an ordinary, unremarkable man. The type who gets swept away by things that are beyond your means and bring about your own ruin. You’ll probably just manage to survive, at best.”
He was charged a hefty fee.
