Chapter 56: Luna-Sama’s Request

Selene-sama also joined us for lunch, making the headquarters of Five Stars become quite rowdy. In fact, Selene-sama also showed great interest in the onigiri I made. In no time, a fierce battle ensued between Jeff-sama, Mia-sama and Selene-sama. They were fighting for my onigiri.

“I want to try something that Kanato-san made. Ufufu~”

“Good grief…”

Recalling the words Selene-sama uttered during our lunch break, I smiled wryly. However, I needed to thank Selene-sama for increasing the prestige of our party. 

The students from the lowest-rank class no longer looked at me with disdain. However, the upper class noble became more wary of me than before. Their reactions were justified though. After all, I had defeated Bern and dealt a blow fatal enough to kill Harry. 

For the upper class noble, of course they wouldn’t find my achievement to be great. Their fathers must hold a significant role in this kingdom. My achievement as a commoner would only become a hindrance for them.

While I was happy that Harry had quite literally disappeared from my sight, but I knew how daunting the future hurdles I would need to face. 

Still, worrying about the future was a waste of time. I needed to focus on the present instead. 

First thing first, going to the student council room to meet with Luna-sama. Although Luna-sama was a strict person, but she was also one of the few upper class nobles that judged things from a neutral standpoint. Hence why I was walking toward the student council room with light steps.

Arriving in front of the student council room, I quietly knocked on the door. 

“Is it Kanato-san?”

“Yes.”

“Please, come in.”

I entered the room as per Luna-sama’s instructions.

Inside the room, a beautiful girl was sitting there. The room itself was dimly lit, painted with subdued colors. Not to mention the sunlight streaming in through the large window made the whole scene look like something out of a movie. 

Looking at the piles of documents on the table, I could guess her current situation. 

“Seems like Luna-sama is pretty busy, huh?”

“I’ll be fine. This is my job after all.”

“Still, don’t push yourself too hard. Remember to take a break every now and then.”

After hearing my words, Luna-sama seemed to become fidgety. I tilted my head to the side, confused at her reaction, when she asked me a question. 

“Are Elena-san and Rina-san alright?”

“Yes. They’re both fine now.”

“….Rina-san is really being pampered by Kanato-san, huh?”

“Pardon?”

“Nothing.”

Her voice was too low for me to catch so I asked her to repeat it again but she only blushed slightly and evaded the subject. Maybe it was just a slip of tongue or something similar.

Seeing the confusion etched on my face, Luna-sama opened her well-shaped mouth with a serious expression on her face. 

“Regarding Bern-san…”

“Ye-Yes?”

“He was expelled from the school.”

“I… I see…”

“He had it coming though. Elena-san has become his victim as well. He might get his title stripped off too.”

Which meant I wouldn’t need to see Bern’s face at this school ever again. That was truly a relief. 

Luna-sama then continued on. Her words were latched with concern. 

“Next, Harry-san.”

“Yes.”

As soon as I heard his ominous name, I grimaced. 

“The investigation team under the direct order of the royal family is investigating the Percy family.”

“…”

“Ever since that incident, no one has seen Harry-san. However, the royal palace was concerned with what that young boy said.”

“So the young boy is connected to Alan?”

“Yes.”

“….”

“That young boy seems to be fond of you, Kanato-san.”

“….”

Well, he did. His words were really weird indeed. 

“Kanato-san, whose side are you on exactly?”

Luna-sama asked. Her face looked a bit confused and her eyes seemed to be glistening.

“What do you mean?”

I asked back. 

“I wish to know your feelings.”

My feelings.

Basically she wanted to know if I wanted to destroy this kingdom or protect this kingdom. To be honest, I couldn’t care less about all that.

“I don’t really understand complicated things like that.”

“…”

“But, I do wish to live in a society where even commoners and slaves can have a chance at becoming nobles if they have the ability for it and…”

“And..?”

Luna-sama widened her emerald eyes, wanting to clear my next word clearly.

“I’m content as long as Rina can have a happy life. I want her to learn and experience more things. I want her to live a life without regrets. And so… I will crush anyone and anything that will stand in the way of the future I envisioned for Rina.”

After hearing my words, Luna-sama suddenly fell from her chair. 

“Huh?”

Confused at the sudden turn of events, I realized the lower half of her body seemed to be shaking. Feeling more concerned about her, I approached her and extended my hand to help her up. 

“Are you okay?”

“…”

She only stared at me absentmindedly. She even forgot to fix ehr rolled-up skirt, causing her black panties with detailed embroidery to be seen by me. 

Feeling a bit awkward, I immediately averted my gaze away.

“Thank you.”

She said while tightly gripping my outstretched hand with both of her hands and stood up. However, even after she stood up, she was still holding onto my hand tightly. 

“Umm… Luna-sama?”

“Kanato-san…”

“Yes?”

“I…. I’ve tried my best.”

“Yes. Luna-sama, I can see you’re always working hard. I mean, just look at this pile of documents-“

“That’s not it!”

“Huh?”

Luna-sama puffed her cheeks out, seemingly sulking. 

“There are many upper class nobles who are still trying to put the blame on you even though you’re totally innocent…”

“Is that so…”

The nobles behind Harry must had been pressuring Luna-sama to punish me regarding the incident with Bern and Harry. 

“Don’t punish Bern. Harry is the victim. This is all Kanato’s fault.”

I could imagine what those nobles must be saying. Luna-sama protected me from all that pressure. Sticking to her belief, she even treated a commoner like me fairly without any exception. In other words, Luna-sama’s version of justice aligned with my version.

“Luna-sama.”

“Ye-Yes?”

“Thank you very much. I’m truly grateful for all your help. Luna-sama, you are really a great person.”

“….It’s nothing. Just hearing you say that is enough to make me happy.”

“If there’s anything I can do to help you, please let me know. I’ll be sure to do my best to help you.”

“Huh? You…? Help me?”

“Yes.”

“Then… I will take you up on that offer.”

She tightened her grip on my hand even more and looked up at me with upturned eyes. 

“Will you… Go on a date with me?”

“Hm?!”

However, her request far exceeded my wildest imagination.
