Chapter 4: Just What Did the Match Bring to Her?

At the arena in Duke Fibel’s residence. 

“Onii-sama! Good luck!”

Time passed in the blink of an eye. After I finished eating breakfast with Rina, servants from the Fibel family arrived at our rundown house.

While the servants were waiting for us, a part of our roof collapsed because of the rot. The servants pitied us and upon seeing how rundown our house was, they decided to repair our roof for us. 

I had to avoid making any unnecessary expenses so I could pay my little sister’s tuition fees so I had been delaying fixing the roof since well, the roof was still there. I bowed my head at the servant, grateful that they were kind enough to help us. 

Back to the arena. I was facing Elena-sama in the training arena of the Fibel family’s residence. 

The girl had put on full battle gear. She drew her sword out, imbuing it with magic. It seemed she was doing it so even if someone were to get slashed by the pointed part of her sword, they wouldn’t get hurt by it. 

But still, Elena-sama was really beautiful. The armor looked more like a cosplay rather than actual armor. It looked like those female armor that you could see from anime or manga. It was the kind that exposed a bit of her skin. 

The breastplate was a bit big though, probably because of how big her breasts were. However, the other part of the armor, especially the fabric part, clung to her waist and abdomen snugly. 

Her body was perfectly balanced, I might say so myself. 

Over there, there was a middle-aged man with blonde hair staring at her. That man was Duke Keltz. He was the head of the Fibel family, possessing tremendous wealth and power that made even the royal family fear him (source: the adventures at the Guild Hall).

Having someone as important as him watching our match made me feel even more nervous.

“Rina’s brother, are you ready?”

“Yeah….”

“Hm? You don’t need a wand or any other weapons?”

“Umm… I can summon weapons for me to use.”

“I see. A summoner… And you can use magic without a wand… In that case, I will go all out! There’s no need for me to hold back!”

“I-I’m a complete amateur so please go easy on me..!”

I quickly bowed my head

“Then, begin the match!”

The maid that had been standing between us said and quickly stepped back. 

Elena-sama smirked before she suddenly kicked the ground and flew toward me. 

“Wha-?!”

She’s terrifyingly fast. 

I know she must be incredible but seeing her in action with my own eyes is completely different after all. 

I dodged her sword and stepped back. However, she didn’t give up. Without allowing me any opening, she advanced toward me again.

“So fast-!”

I said out of reflex while dodging her furious attacks. Her flurry of swordplay was on a different level than the monsters I had hunted before, both in speed and power. 

It seemed she was serious when she said she wouldn’t hold back. 

“Pistol!!”

I shouted while avoiding her attacks. A modified magic pistol appeared in my hand. 

I immediately fired several rounds at her.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

“HAAA!!”

She took in all of the bullets I fired with her sword and got thrown back forcefully from the impact.

However, soon enough, she planted her feet on the ground as she gazed at me calmly.

“I’ve never seen a weapon like that before.”

“We-Well…”

“Being thrown back like that reminds me of the time when I faced the top echelons of the Demon King’s army. How nostalgic.”

Elena-sama said, seemingly reminiscing about the days gone by before she immediately changed her expression. She glared sharply at me before once again, she quickly approached me.

“Rifle!”

I threw the pistol and summoned a modified rifle this time, aiming its barrel at Elena-sama and pulled the trigger but…

“Humph! Too slow!”

Brimming with confidence, Elena-sama dodged all of the modified bullets I shot at her and closed the distance between us, making me have to defend against her relentless assaults with the rifle. 

Clang! Clang!

The sound of metal clashing reverberated throughout the arena. I continued defending myself against her attacks for five minutes. The sharp sound echoing in the arena made me wincing my eyes and the shockwaves from our attack created cracks in the bricks of the arena. If we weren’t careful, the entire arena would’ve collapsed on us. 

Alright. This should be enough. I just need to take one of Elena-sama’s attacks and fall down naturally and then everything will be over. To be honest, I have no intention to show all of my strength to someone from the Fibel family. Like I mentioned before, all I want is a slow life. 

Having a match with the eldest daughter of a duke’s family is incredible enough but if I were to lose against Elena-sama so easily, I won’t be able to keep my dignity as the older brother to Rina. 

But at the same time, since Keltz-sama is here too, I couldn’t thoroughly embarrass Elena-sama either. In other words, If I’m planning on losing, it has to be now. 

And so, I deliberately slowed my movement in an inconspicuous way and I was about to take the blow from her sword but…

Suddenly, a poisoned arrow flew toward Elena-sama.

“-!!!”

My eyes opened wide and I immediately chanted. 

“Iron Plate!!”

The iron plate I summoned appeared just in time to block the arrow. 

And at the same time…

“An opening!”

Elena-sama, unaware of the assassin’s arrow, closed the distance between me by taking the opening created from my faltered step and aimed the pointed part of her sword at the pit of my stomach. 

However, because of the adrenaline rushing through me because of the emergency….

I failed to hold back.

I subconsciously deflected Elena-sama’s sword with my rifle and placed my right hand on her abdomen. 

“Wha-?! Your movements are completely different from before….”

Ignoring Elena-sama’s confusion, I lifted her while still pressing down on her abdomen with one hand and aimed her toward the ground.

“HAAAA!!”

I slammed her to the ground with all of my might.

“ARGHH-!!”

Elena’s Side

She never lost before. Not when she was young, nor now.

The word ‘defeat’ never existed in her dictionary regarding battles or competitions. Revered as the War Princess, people began to worship her, putting her on the same pedestal as the goddess from the legend. Some even went as far as building temples in her honor. 

However…

She was defeated by a commoner. 

While her consciousness was drifting away, Elena came to realize something. 

In this man’s eyes, Elana was no better than a harmless baby. For years, Elena had been rampaging on the battlefield like a crazed female without a master. However, a dominant male with overwhelming strength had appeared, subduing her to complete submission. 

For a split second, she finally experienced fear, something that she had never felt before. Witnessing Kanato’s strength and manly face with her own eyes, a primal side of her wished to submit to Kanato. The desire was overwhelming, clouding her mind. 

Kanato’s hand still remained fixed on her abdomen. This was the hand of the man who had made her experience defeat for the first time ever. 

“-!!”

The lower part of her abdomen began to heat up and at the same time, her consciousness started to get hazy too. Lying on the ground, she watched the arena collapsing. 

“Nh-!!”

Her body jerked and twitched for a moment before she finally lost consciousness.
