Chapter 21: The Price of Ignorance and Mockery

When the Red Dragon moved its hand to its mouth to swallow Geese, not only the other party went into a panic but all of my party members were also having the same reaction.

However, the other wyverns kept attacking Geese’s party members, not giving them any break to help Geese. 

There, the three of them stood there dumbfounded when Geese disappeared into the dragon’s mouth.

If only they had made proper planning beforehand, they would’ve been able to stand a chance against the Red Dragon. 

I sighed as I watched the Red Dragon bared its fangs at the other three. Seeing that the three of them had lost their will to fight from having to witness their friend’s death, the dragon approached them slowly. The dragon moved like a cunning snake. Its mind was focused on its prey. The dragon closed in while silently hiding its bloodthirst. When the dragon was close enough, the dragon swooped its claw at the three of them but…

The sound of a sharp sword clashing with the Red Dragon’s massive claws could be heard. 

It was Elena-sama.

“Do you guys want to die that badly?! You incompetent fools!”

Elena-sama glared at the three of them with all of her might. The three of them had long lost their fighting spirit, proving to be a liability for Elena-sama. 

“You guys are nothing but hindrances.”

She said before she thrusted her sword into the Red Dragon’s leg. 

“GUAAAAAAA!!”

The Red Dragon screamed in pain. The screeching sound was so intense that our eardrums almost ruptured. 

Elena-sama took a step back from the Red Dragon.

“Come here! I’m your opponent!”

Enraged by Elena-sama’s taunts, the Red Dragon released its fire breath at Elena-sama even though fresh blood was still flowing from its wounds. The dragon was glaring at Elena-sama, intent to kill her.

However, the moment the pillar of fire was close enough, Elena-sama immediately swung her sword down, creating a gust of wind strong enough to slice the fire away. Her movement was so unreal that I couldn’t help but be mesmerized by her. 

From that on, a full-fledged battle between the Red Dragon and Elena-sama began. The sound of claws clashing against steel echoed in the mountains. The crimson scales shimmering brilliantly like diamonds and the flames from the dragon were burning wild like a magma. 

Contrary to the dragon’s fearsome appearance, Elena-sama remained remarkably calm. 

She only used the bare minimum of her magic, solely focusing her attack to exhaust the massive Red Dragon’s stamina. She truly displayed her prowess as an experienced War Princess. Despite the bulky armor encasing her most private area, her feminine allure still shone through. Especially her two massive bulges. It was incredible that she could move so swiftly despite possessing those two soft marshmallows. People’s attention was naturally drawn to it. 

If only she were born as a man, I might have lost in a battle against her. 

The battle between the Red Dragon and Elena-sama went on for 5 minutes… 10 minutes… And finally… 

“Gueee….”

Before long, the Red Dragon began to gasp for breath. Elena-sama gave me a signal with her eyes. I nodded in response and shouted loudly so the three people who were still standing near the Red Dragon and my other party members could hear me. 

“Everyone!! Stop fighting right now and gather around to where I am! I will take down the dragon! However, my attack magic is very powerful and if you’re somewhere near the Red Dragon, you might get swallowed by my attack! So please! Come here! It’s safe here!”

My voice echoed, reaching everyone’s ears. 

But…

“”AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!!!””

In return, I received mockery and contempt.

“A commoner is going to kill a Red Dragon that’s on par with Elena-sama? Don’t make me laugh!”

“Very powerful you say?~ Pfft!! Ahahaha! Fine! Let’s see just how powerful you really are!”

“What a foolish commoner! You’re basically volunteering to become the Red Dragon’s prey!”

“That guy is getting cocky just because he was able to defeat Bern. Just so you know, we’re on a different level than Bern! You are nothing but weaklings for us!”

I held my head with both of my hands. Geese’s party members were making my at my wit’s end. But then, a man who seemed to be at Level 5 grimaced.

“Don’t get cocky, you commoner! Do you even understand what you’re talking about?! You’re basically tarnishing our pride as nobles!”

“….”

I hang my head down, feeling completely disappointed at them. 

Jeff-sama then placed his hand on my shoulder. 

“Kanato, go all out.”

He whispered.

“….Got it. Jeff-sama, can you please cast a barrier about 1.5 meters wide on the Red Dragon, please?”

“Alright. Leave it to me. Also, after we’re done with this quest, you should come over to my house. I will be sure to entertain you.”

Jeff-sama dispersed the barrier he had around us and aimed his wand at the Red Dragon.

“Barrier! Maximum output!”

“Maximum enhancement magic!”

Jeff-sama and Mia-sama poured all of their magic power into creating a barrier big enough to envelop the Red Dragon. 

Elena-sama had already come to my side. We both silently observed the confused Red Dragon’s movement.

“Concrete….”

I chanted and an incredibly thick concrete dropped from the air in front of us. The concrete had a small square hole in the middle, allowing us to peer through the hole. 

And then… 

“Bunker Buster…”

I chanted and from above, something that resembled a massive missile appeared mid air, falling right toward Red Dragon at tremendous speed. 

The Red Dragon, still oblivious to what was to come, tried to break the barrier by melting it with its fire breath but…

“3….2….1….”

“-!!”

The Red Dragon looked upward but it was already too late. 

The enormous bunker buster pierced through the Red Dragon’s scales and caused a massive explosion inside the dragon’s body.

Before the Red Dragon could even roar, its flesh and blood already scattered everywhere as Jeff-sama’s barrier magic dissolved along. 

Fortunately, the explosion and the dragon’s body parts didn’t hit any of us. However, the remaining three nobles that were still near the dragon got hit by the tremendous shockwave. All of them lost their consciousness with blood trickling down from their ears. 

But then, one particular red spherical object tumbled along from the dragon’s corpse. The red spherical object cracked open after it finished rolling toward us, revealing a familiar figure. 

It was Geese. 

He was really pale. His skin had turned purple even and it seemed he was already unconscious too. 

“Onii-sama… This must be the side effect from losing too much magic.”

“Yeah, it seems like it.”

It seemed Geese had wrapped himself in a ball of steel to protect himself from being consumed by the Red Dragon. Simply staying alive inside the Red Dragon’s stomach wouldn’t have consumed a lot of magic power but it seemed he had to exhaust all of his magic power to defend himself against my Bunker Buster. 

If we left Geese as he was, he would definitely die from magic exhaustion. 

“Rina.”

“Yes, Onii-sama!”

“May I ask you to help treat these people?”

“…If that’s what Onii-sama wishes for then I don’t mind doing it.”

I turned around, hoping to ask for help from one other person.

“Luna-sama, we need to find the musk deer now. Can I ask you to help Rina?”

Upon hearing my request, Elena-sama, Jeff-sama and Mia-sama tilted their heads to the side, looking clearly confused. 

“When did you notice? I thought I’ve hidden my presence perfectly.”

Luna-sama emerged from behind the rocks. She looked a bit nervous and exasperated. 

“For quite a long while ago.”

“….”

“Luna-sama? Can you please help us?”

“Someone like you…. Understood. This is not Kanato-san’s fault. If the nobles here try to hold you responsible for this, I will personally punish them by using my authority as the student council president.”

“Thank you, Luna-sama. I appreciate it.”

“Don’t take it the wrong way. I’m not siding with you.”

“I won’t.”

“…..”

Still donned in her school uniform, Luna-sama’s emerald eyes seemed to pierce through me. Her expression had a mix of frustration and perplexion in it. Seemingly troubled at the mess, Luna-sama tightly gripped her skirt with both of her hands. 

I started walking to Jeff-sama and Mia-sama, leaving Luna-sama behind. 

Jeff-sama and Mia-sama had already collapsed onto the ground, they looked really tired. I smiled at the two of them. 

I guess, it’s up to me and Elena-sama to go searching for the musk deer.
