Chapter 2: An Unfamiliar Presence in Our Rundown House

I arrived at a certain plain where Emperor Water Buffalo was supposed to be. Generally speaking, no one could defeat Emperor Water Buffalo unless they were at least level 5 knight or magician. 

By the way, in this world, they assign your rank based on strength, with level 1 being the weakest and level 5 being the strongest. 

In addition, that lady named Elena that Rina mentioned yesterday was level 5 and even amongst level 5 knights, she was considered to be the strongest.

I leaped into the air by kicking the ground. I bounced about 10 meters in the air but since I felt this wasn’t enough, I chanted. 

“Drone!”

A massive drone appeared beneath my shoes, lifting me even higher until I was 500 meters up in the air. At this altitude the Emperor Water Buffalo looked like a single dot.

“Okay! Ballistic missile!”

I shouted and a ballistic missile appeared several kilometers above me. The missile was pointed downwards and at the tip, there was a warhead that I specifically created with magic so this ballistic missile could finish the Emperor Water Buffalo for sure. 

“Eat this!!”

At my command, the missile advanced forward, flying toward Emperor Buffalo at incredible speed. Added with the force of gravity, the speed must’ve exceeded 10 mach. 

In an instant, the missile struck the head of the buffalo. 

“GYUEEEEEEEEEEE!!”

An enormous explosion of light emerged from the collision. 

Riding on the drone, I looked down, scanning the surroundings before sighing in relief. 

“With this, the villagers don’t need to be scared of getting attacked by the buffalo.”

Right. 

When I went to the guild hall the other day, I overheard that an Emperor Water Buffalo had been attacking the nearby village, causing immense damage in its wake. However, an Emperor Water Buffalo was so powerful that the kingdom wouldn’t move a finger to help unless it was absolutely necessary to defeat it.

Hence why I came here to take care of it. 

After landing on the ground, I checked the Emperor Water Buffalo and after confirming the monster was dead, I sighed, feeling a bit sad. 

“Haa… If only I could sell the horns… I could use the money to pay Rina’s tuition fees…”

I sighed again.

“But since I’m a commoner, if I were to sell the horn of Emperor Water Buffalo, a monster that could only be exterminated by level 5 individuals, I’d definitely be suspected of stealing it and ended up interrogated by officials instead. After all, I’ve experienced similar instances countless times before.”

With another sigh, I looked at the severed legs of Emperor Water Buffalo. 

I remembered, the meat of Emperor Water Buffalo was said to be exceptionally delicious. In fact, now that I looked at it carefully, the meat had a beautiful marbling. It reminded me of Japanese Wagyu beef. It was truly a wonder to see so much fat on such muscular legs. 

“Maybe I will make a beef bowl today. Rina loves beef bowls after all.”

The corner of my lips turned up into a smile so bright that one could see the dimple on my face. 

And so, I cut up the meat and carried a large amount of beautifully marbled meat from the Emperor Water Buffalo back to my home.

At a rundown house. 

My home was situated in a corner of a residential area, a bit far from the capital. 

I wanted to rent a luxurious house in the best district in the capital so Rina could study in the best environment but… Being a commoner, of course I didn’t have the money to do so. 

Rina, please forgive your brother for being so incompetent. 

I murmured in my heart as I opened the front door. 

The lights were on so Rina must’ve come home before me. 

“I’m home! Rina! We’re having a beef bowl today!”

“Be-Beef bowl?! Yay!! I love Onii-sama’s beef bowl!”

I could hear Rina’s cheerful voice coming from inside the house. Just hearing her voice was enough to put my heart at ease. 

I couldn’t wait to see my little sister’s face. 

Back in Japan, I’d probably be labeled as a disgusting siscon brother but in this place, I didn’t mind the label as much. Being labeled as creepy was fine by me. 

My little sister turned her face to look at me. When she looked at me, her eyes were practically shining, making her look absolutely adorable. I resisted the urge to cuddle my little sister by taking a deep breath before I said…

“I defeated an Emperor Water Buffalo today so I have a lot of meat with me. Let’s eat to our heart’s content! You can have a second serving however many times you want!”

I said while giving Rina a thumbs-up and showed her the buffalo meat. Suddenly, she turned around again. 

“Elena-sama! My Onii-sama is so strong that he can easily defeat an Emperor Water Buffalo!”

“Huh…..?”

Unable to understand my little sister’s reaction, I tilted my head to the side. From behind her, I could see a beautiful girl in a school uniform with long, flowing golden hair approaching. Just from a single glance alone, I knew this girl must be a nobility. She carried a dignified and elegant aura with her.

Her face was like a sculpture, she was breathtakingly beautiful. Her crystal clear blue eyes were so striking that I felt myself being drawn to it. Then… Below her face, there was a voluptuous twin valley that reminded me of two large melons. And also, she had a sword hanging from her waist. 

Her ethereal beauty rendered me speechless. 

Her dignity didn’t only indicate that she was from nobility but it also carried another implication, a murderous gaze that proved she had slain countless formidable enemies. 

“Are you Rina’s older brother?”

“Ye-Yes…”

“My apologies for coming suddenly. My name is Elena De Fibel.”

“My name is Kanato.”

Elena De Fibel. Both commoner and noble, no one in this kingdom didn’t know about her. 

Elena was the eldest daughter of the most prestigious ducal family among the three major ducal houses in this kingdom. Due to her incredibly powerful magic and swordsmanship, she was referred to as a living weapon. After the wars ended, she created an international alliance and served as the head of the said international troop to lead a war against the Demon King’s army. 

Rumors had it that the royal family began to fear her rapidly growing strength so they made her study in the Central Magic School. 

To put this simply, this woman was incredibly powerful. 

It felt unreal to have someone like her coming to our rundown house. 

“I-Is there anything I can do for you?”

“I’ve heard about you from Rina. There’s something I’m curious about so I wish to have a thorough conversation with you. Of course, I also want to talk about the Emperor Water Buffalo from earlier.”

Cold sweats dripped on my back as a maid, who seemed like she was outstandingly good at her job, sent me a scrutinizing glance from behind Elena-sama.
