The Truth About My Birth

While hugging Emi tightly in the kitchen, I’m desperately trying to make sense of the current situation and the things I just heard from her, I’m overwhelmed. As I’m trying to process everything, I hear the sound of someone leaving through the front door.

Then, once again, the sound of Mama yelling can be heard from the living room

“Mama’s yelling is very annoying. I can’t take it anymore. I’m going to make her quiet.”

Emi says so and she stands up expressionlessly, intending to go to the living room.

“Wait, Emi! Hold on a second, what are you planning to do?”

Ignoring my attempt to stop her, Emi walks towards the living room where Papa and Mama are.

I hurriedly follow after Emi…

“Mama, you’re so noisy. Stop acting like you’re a victim already. Aren’t you ashamed?”

“E-Emi! How dare you talk to your parents like that!!!”

“I told you that you’re really noisy, right? So shut up. I know everything Mama and Papa did 16 years ago! Everything!”

The moment Emi said those words, Mama’s expression changed. She falls silent, her lips are trembling.

“You destroyed someone else’s family 16 years ago and lived happily all this time, and now you are trying to play the victim when the same thing happens to you? Don’t you feel ashamed? On top of that, you have the audacity to take out your resentment on the son of the victim of what you did 16 years ago without the slightest sense of guilt? This is all your own doing! This is called karma! Why should I consider someone like you, a rotten piece of human trash, as my parent? Don’t make me laugh!”

“H-Hold on a minute, Emi! What do you mean? The son of the victim from 16 years ago…could it be Souji-kun???”

“Onee-chan…it’s supposed to be Souji-senpai who tells you this, but yes, that’s right. Papa’s previous wife is Souji-senpai’s mother. Mama and Papa had an affair and Mama got pregnant, so Papa left Souji-senpai’s pregnant mother and remarried happily with Mama.”

“Eh? W-Wait a minute! Eh??? This is a lie, right??? This must be a joke, right???”

Emi glares at Mama, not saying anything.

Papa is looking down and he can’t even say anything to Emi’s words. Mama seems to be trembling as she looks away from me and Emi.

Seeing their reaction, I realize that everything Emi just said is true.

“Onee-chan, you might have already figured it out by now, but Souji-senpai and we are half-siblings. Mama knows about this and yet she treats Souji-senpai as an enemy without the slightest sense of guilt. Also, Papa pretended to care at the beginning, but he eventually turns a blind eye of Souji-senpai’s situation.”

“T-This can’t be true…”

Papa and his previous wife divorced 16 years ago because he got his affair partner, which is Mama, pregnant. That means, that child from 16 years ago…is me.

“Souji-kun’s mother got divorced with Papa because Mama, who was Papa’s affair partner at that time, was pregnant with me…?”

“…that’s—”

“Emi, shut up. I’m asking you, Mama, Papa! Answer me! I want to know if Souji-kun has suffered because of my existence!”

I cry and screamed so.

I grab and flail at the both of them who refuse to answer me, but even so, Neither Mama nor Papa says anything back to me. Emi is hugging me, desperately trying to stop me. I feel great hatred towards the two of them. I feel disgust towards them to the point where I can no longer consider them as my parents.

“Onee-chan, why even bother with them!? Let’s leave this place together.”
