Secret Consultation
Emi’s POV
When Onee-chan comes back from Souji-senpai’s apartment, she immediately comes to my room.
“Souji-kun said that I can go visit him again sometimes!”
Onee-chan told me so with great excitement.
I understand that Onee-chan is happy because she is able to get along with Souji-senpai, but I should ask her to calm down.
“Onee-chan, I don’t understand what you’re saying. Calm down.”
“Y-Yeah, that’s right! Umm, umm, where do I start…”
Onee-chan excitedly told me what had happened today.
Apparently, Souji-senpai’s room felt very lonely and empty. He only has a few of his belongings there.
There were no frying pans or knives in the kitchen, making it difficult for Onee-chan to prepare their breakfast.
Since there were no extra tableware for Onee-chan, she had to make some onigiri for her breakfast.
Then, when Onee-chan suggested Souji-senpai to go shopping for cooking utensils and daily necessities, Souji-senpai said that he doesn’t have any money, and when Onee-chan said that she would pay for it, he refused it at first.
However, when Onee-chan bowed her head and plead, Souji-senpai finally agreed.
They bought the essential cooking utensils, dishes, and daily necessities, clothing, underwear, shoes, a kotatsu, and a bookshelf.
Since, the curtains were more expensive than Onee-chan had thought, they decided to buy fabric instead to make a simple substitute for curtain out of it.
In total, they spent around 40,000 yen.
Then, when Souji-senpai walked Onee-chan home and just before parting ways, she asked if she could visit again sometimes. Souji-senpai said yes with a smile saying that they should spend more time together next time.
“That’s great, Onee-chan. It’s a great success.”
“I told Souji-kun that I would pay for the housewarming gift when we were having breakfast. He was hesitant at first, so I had to bow down and asked him to accept it…”
“Ah, I’m curious about that! Why was Onee-chan bowing to Souji-senpai? Shouldn’t it be the other way around?”
“I asked him to accept it because I had worked so hard at my part-time job to earn those money. But Souji-kun was stubborn and wouldn’t accept it. Then I started to feel sad and tears started to stream down my cheeks…”
“So, in the end, Souji-senpai gave in because of Onee-chan’s tears.”
“Well, I guess so…but he promised me to take a good care of it!”
“I see, but Onee-chan were able to promise to visit him again next time, that’s great. However, you have to be careful not to get carried away and bother Souji-senpai again, okay?”
“Yeah, I know.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The following weekend, I visit Souji-senpai’s apartment alone.
Since I don’t have a bicycle, I have to take a bus to get there.
By the way, I have made a promise with Senior Souji in advance.
I’m not going to Souji-senpai’s place to hang out, but instead, the reason I come here is to discuss our future plans.
That’s why, I didn’t tell Onee-chan that I’m visiting Souji-senpai today.
Souji-senpai’s apartment is neatly organized.
Thanks to the kotatsu and bookshelf Onee-chan had bought, it feels less lonely and empty compared to Souji-senpai’s room at home.
The table that Souji-senpai has been using since he was still living with us is placed in a corner and used as a study desk.
The kitchen is also tidy, and when I asked Souji-senpai, he told me that he did some cooking on his own.
I handed over instant coffee, sugar, and a cake as a little gift.
Souji-senpai immediately offered to brew the coffee, so I helped to prepare the cake.
While eating the cake, we got to the main topic.
“Onee-chan seems to have calmed down quite a bit. However, I still think it’s too early to talk about it. It might be too much for her to handle right now.”
“Yeah, I guess you’re right…even when she visited the other day, she seemed a bit emotionally unstable, and I even made her cry.”
“Yes, I heard a bit from Onee-chan. She’s very single-minded. That’s why she’s been emotionally unstable over your situation…”
“For now, maybe we should just take our time and observe the situation.”
“Yeah, I think that’s a good idea.”
I also discuss my career path and vent about my frustrations with my parents to Souji-senpai. Actually, I’m considering going to the same high school as Souji-senpai, so he tells me some study advice.
We make instant ramen for lunch and eat together.
After staying at his apartment for about three hours, I decide to head back home.
As I’m leaving,
“I’ll come visit again, Onii-chan.”
I jokingly said so and practically flee from his apartment.
I feel more embarrassed than I expected.
When I go back in a cheerful mood, a chaotic situation has unfolded at home.
