I Fell in Love with Someone I Shouldn't Have Fallen in Love with - Chapter 5

I arrive at my house later than Souji-kun.

Then, I immediately go upstairs to my room.

As I’m taking off my uniform to change into my casual wear, I thought that I need to tell Souji-kun to not tell anyone at school that we are living together.

However, it will be quite troublesome if Mama sees me talking with Souji-kun in the house, looks like Mama doesn’t like seeing me talking to Souji-kun.

As I’m thinking about such thoughts, it’s already time for dinner before I knew it.

Tonight is the first night of my new school semester, and especially for Emi who is in the first year of middle school, today is her first day of middle school. Mama and Papa are asking Emi various questions about her school today.

Today’s dinner menu consists of tempura, salad and miso soup.

But as usual, Souji-kun’s dinner is different than ours, he has reheatable frozen pasta for dinner.

Of course I feel quite bad about Souji-kun’s dinner at first, but as time went by and perhaps because Souji-kun himself always express his gratitude without complaining, I stopped worrying about it.

When Souji-kun comes to get his meal, he bows to Mama as usual and says,

“Thankyou, I’ll gratefully eat it.”

Then he carries his dinner to his room.

Mama don’t even bother to look at Souji-kun and continue to talk to Emi.

At first this scene gave me a vague sense of sorry for Souji-kun, but lately, I’ve been trying to not let it bother me.

In the end, I decided to talk to Souji-kun when Mama is taking a bath. It will take around 30 minutes for Mama to take a bath, so I figured it would be more than enough time for me to talk to Souji-kun.

Because I want to talk to Souji-kun, I decided to take a bath first before Mama.

Then Emi goes in after me, and Mama goes in after Emi.

About 10 minutes after Emi got out of the bath, I pretend to go to the kitchen to get a drink and check to see if Mama is taking a bath.

As I thought so, Mama is taking a bath. So, I go straight to Souji-kun’s door and knock on his door.

“Y-Yes!”

Souji-kun replied so in a surprised voice at the sudden knock.

“It’s Ami…I have something to talk with you about…”

“Okay. I’ll open the door now.”

Souji-kun who opened the door for me is wearing a gym uniform I had never seen before. Perhaps it’s from his previous middle school?

I did not enter Souji-kun’s room. I’m just standing at the entrance.

“Yes, what is it?”

“Um, well…I have a favor to ask… At school, could you please not mention that you are living with me, Souji-kun?”

“Understood. I’ll make sure not to cause any inconvenience. Oh, and it might be a good idea to ask the homeroom teacher to keep it a secret too. I’ll talk to the teacher tomorrow.”

Souji-kun agreed to my request without any hesitation.

“Thank you…”

“No, it’s fine. Rather, I’m sorry for all the trouble I’ve caused.”

“No, it’s no problem at all…”

After talking to Souji-kun, I breathed a sigh of relief and take a glance into Souji-kun’s room.

Souji-kun’s room was used as a storage room before, but Papa tidied it up before Souji-kun arrived, so there are no things left around. However, I can hardly see any of Souji-kun’s belongings.

Inside the six tatami mat room, there is a set of futon and the shoulder bag Souji-kun brought when he came. Other than that, there is nothing much except for some laundry hanging inside the room.

There isn’t even a study desk, let alone a table.

“Umm, is there anything else?”

I have been distracted by looking at Souji-kun’s room and I panicked.

“Ah, no that’s all…good night…”

I said so.

With a very soft smile,

“Yeah, good night.”

Souji-kun replied so.

I go back to my room, sit on the edge of my bed, and fall straight on my back.

Souji-kun’s smile earlier is stuck in my mind and I can’t get it out of my head.

Souji-kun lost his only parent at such an early age. Even though he is being taken care of by our family, he is being treated very coldly, he prefers to be alone and doesn’t seem to talk much to others at school either.

But yet, he can smile like that…

Souji-kun’s smile is so gentle and full with affection, like a smile that a mother would give to her child.

Thinking about this, I feel guilt deep within my heart about what I asked him to do earlier.

Why should I be embarrassed about Souji-kun living together with me? What was I thinking?

I’m being very rude to Souji-kun.
