- Chapter 26 - Suspicion
Suspicion
Emi’s POV
As I live my middle school life feeling stressed by the presence of Onee-chan and Souji Ando, I gradually begin to develop feelings of hatred towards them.
It’s not like they did anything to me, especially Souji Ando, he just lives in the same house with me. But I can’t help but to feel they are the reason why my life is such a mess.
When the summer break starts, I start to have suspicion about Onee-chan and Souji Ando. My frustration has reached its limit.
At first, I’m suspicious why Onee-chan goes to the school library very often.
Onee-chan is not good at studying.
She may occasionally have study sessions with her friends, but this time, she does it too frequently.
Even though she is preparing for her entrance exam, she just goes to the library too often.
Even during summer break, she goes to the school library about five times a week.
I know that Onee-chan is in the literature club and goes to school once or twice a week for club activity, but still, she goes to school more than half the week.
Moreover, she seems to make her own bento every time she goes, which adds my suspicion even more.
At first, I wondered if she has a boyfriend or someone she likes, but when I asked her about it directly, she vehemently denied it.
Onee-chan is always somewhat uncomfortable with boys, even though she is really popular, she doesn’t seem to have any male friends at all. That’s why I was shocked at first.
But I still can’t help but to wonder if there is someone she wants to meet that made her to go to the library so often. I also thought that she looked very happy when she was preparing her lunch at home, which made me think if she has a boyfriend of was meeting someone she likes.
To be frank, she looks like to be ‘in love’ to me.
Who is it, Onee-chan? Who is the person you love?
As I wonder about this, I noticed something.
Yeah, Souji Ando.
When Onee-chan told me to keep our living situation a secret, Onee-chan also told me that she already discussed it with Souji Ando beforehand.
In other words, unlike me, Onee-chan is close enough with Souji Ando to be able to talk to him.
A boy who can talk to Onee-chan who is not good with boys.
That alone is already suspicious enough to me.
Furthermore, I notice that Souji Ando often goes out too lately, just like Onee-chan.
It shouldn’t matter to me if they are dating or not, but to be honest. I don’t like it at all.
Even though I’m so frustrated because the both of them, they are enjoying their days together, being all lovey-dovey.
That’s why, I can’t help but to check it out.
The first thing I’m going to do is follow Onee-chan.
As I suspected beforehand, I go to the school library to see who is Onee-chan meeting with. When I sneak a peek inside, Souji Ando and Onee-chan is there as expected.
Moreover, they are sitting together at the same table. They seem to be studying while talking to each other from time to time.
I can’t say that they are flirting with each other, but I can tell that their relationship is pretty close.
Next, when they are not home, I sneak into their room to see if I can find anything that might reveal their relationship.
In Onee-chan’s room, I find a letter.
I found an envelope in one of her drawers, and when I open it, there is a handwritten note.
The note describes how the two of them secretly met at night. It also mentioned moments when Onee-chan fell asleep in his room, as well as a thank you for homemade cookies.
Then, I sneak into Souji Ando’s room to see if there is anything there.
There are only very few things in his room. There is only a table that Onee-chan used to use in the middle of the room.
Among the few things he has in his room, I find a large envelope hidden in a shoulder bag in the closet.
The envelope is thick and heavy with the name of a law firm written on it. It seems to have a lot of documents inside.
