Fell Asleep

The next morning, I woke up in bed in my room.

I can’t remember much because I’m still half asleep at first, but after quite some time, I realized that I was chatting with Souji-kun in his room last night and don’t remember going back to my room.

Eh? How did I get back here?

Eh!? Don’t tell me, did I just get Souji-kun into trouble!?

With such thoughts in my mind, I started to panic. As I get up from my bed, I notice that there is a note on my study desk.

‘Ami-san, you fell asleep in my room last night. I carried you to your room because I didn’t want your mother to find you in my room. I’m sorry for entering your room without permission. Also, the cookies were very delicious, thank you very much. Souji.’

I read the note over and over again.

Even though it’s just a simple note, when I think of it as the first letter I’ve ever received from Souji-kun, it feels like a very precious item.

As I go downstairs, I see Papa watching TV in the living room and Mama who seems to be preparing breakfast in the kitchen.

While washing my face in the bathroom, I hear someone entering the toilet.

Intuitively, I think it’s Souji-kun, so I quickly comb my hair in front of the bathroom mirror and make sure to get rid of my bed face. I then wait for Souji-kun to come out of the toilet.

When Souji-kun comes out of the bathroom, I grab him by his arms as if I’m going to hug him. I then whisper to his ear so that Mama who is in the kitchen won’t hear me.

“I’m really sorry about last night! Thank you for carrying me to my room!”

Then Souji-kun whispers back to my ear.

“We were staying up until quite late last night, weren’t we? I think we shouldn’t stay up until that late next time.”

He whispered so with a gentle smile on his face.

His smile makes me blush so hard that I thought my brain would melt. I’m at a loss for words and just stand there gazing at him.

“Anyway Ami-san, we can’t stay here any longer. I’ll go back to my room now.”

“Ahh yeah, I’m sorry!”

I let go of Souji-kun’s arm.

I watch Souji-kun as he returns to his room. Just as he is about to enter his room, I rush towards him and grab his arm again.

“Um! If you’d like to, would you go out with me today?”

“Eh? Today?”

“Yeah. Anywhere is fine…ah, that’s right! How about going to the city library?”

“I’m okay with that, but it’s quite far, you know? Are you sure about it, Ami-san?”

“It’s fine! I’ve walked there when I was in grade school before!”

“Okay then. What time should we go there?”

I quickly think about it, considering the time needed before heading out.

I need some time to take a shower…pick out my clothes…ah, that’s right, I also want to wear the high heel shoes that I just bought the other day…but the walk there is quite far, it’s better to wear sports shoes…then I’ll need to prepare our lunch…and don’t forget about the drinks as well…

“How about at 10?”

“Okay then. I’ll leave home earlier then, let’s meet at the park at 10.”

“Yeah!”

“I’ll see you later.”

I go to the kitchen, humming happily.

“What’s with you this morning? Did something good happen?”

Mama asked me so.

“Yeah, I’m going to the library with Sakura-chan today! Can I make a simple lunch or something?”

“Yeah, sure. Go ahead.”

With this, I can prepare our lunch.

Perhaps because of the results of my final exams are quite good, my mom didn’t say anything about it.

Instead of making bentos, I decided to make some onigiri for us.

Taking advantage of a moment when my mom is away from the kitchen, I prepare enough onigiri for both of us.

In addition to the onigiri, I also bring some barley tea for us.

Once I finished preparing our lunch, I bring it to my room and hurriedly take a shower, then change my clothes.

Looking outside, the weather seems very nice. Since she sun is shining, I decided to wear a straw hat.

As for my outfit, I struggled whether to go for something stylish or practical. In the end, I chose a simple shirt and shorts. The walk to the library is quite far, so I need to be in something comfortable.

I also end up choosing sneakers for my footwear.

After changing my clothes, I pack our lunch in a backpack along with some snacks and a towel.

About ten minutes before 10, I go downstairs to say to Mama and Papa that I’m going out.

Then I leave the house and head for the park.

When I arrive at the park, Souji-kun is sitting alone on a bench, seemingly thinking about something.

I’m so entranced by the sight of Souji-kun sitting there that I was again caught in a daze
