I Ended Up Pretending to Be the Boyfriend of a Beautiful but Tough Classmate for Just a Month, but It Seems That She Has Awakened Her Yandere Tendencies Because of That. - Chapter 84
Chapter 84
♤
“Ah… I thought I was gonna die…”
“You’re so pathetic. The view was beautiful, and it was fun. I wouldn’t mind riding it again.”
“Then I’m going home.”
“Oh, come on, I was joking. But thanks for coming with me.”
As soon as we got off the roller coaster, still breathless from fear, Takamiya tightly gripped my hand.
“Ah… I-It’s fine, really.”
“No, I want to. Besides, we’re probably the only couple here not holding hands. Even if you don’t like it, I’m doing it anyway.”
Her hand was a little cold, but when our fingers intertwined, the parts where we touched felt oddly warm.
We kept holding hands as we looked for the next attraction, and I stayed silent, too nervous to speak.
I glanced at Takamiya from time to time, but whenever our eyes met, she quickly looked away and stayed quiet.
After wandering around for a while in silence, Takamiya finally ran out of patience and spoke up.
“…Hey, how long are you going to stay quiet?”
“N-No, it’s not like I—”
“We’re both embarrassed, so just act like a man and take the lead already.”
“I-I know… Uh, alright, let’s go to the Ferris wheel this time.”
Holding her hand, I headed toward the large Ferris wheel in the center of the amusement park.
The Ferris wheel might be high, but it moves slowly, and there wouldn’t be anyone else inside, so we could take it easy.
That was my simple reasoning for choosing it, but for some reason, Takamiya’s face stayed red, and she avoided making eye contact with me.
“…You’re the one acting all weird now.”
“T-That’s not true. But do you really want to ride the Ferris wheel that badly?”
“No, I just thought it’d be nice to relax for a bit.”
“…Oh, I see.”
Now she seemed a little sulky.
I didn’t really get it, but was there something about the Ferris wheel?
❤︎
“Hah… hah… Where did that kid go?”
I pushed through the crowd, looking for Enjouji Itsuki, but she was nowhere to be found.
Did I just imagine it after all?
“Maria-san, let’s take a break.”
“Wah—! S-Sanae, you followed me?”
“No, the president moved on to the next attraction, so when I moved as well, I happened to find you here.”
“Oh, I see. I’m in the middle of something important, so don’t get in my way.”
“I’m also in the middle of something important. Let’s ride the Ferris wheel.”
“Huh? Were you even listening?”
“You’re looking for someone, right? Then wouldn’t it be more efficient to search from a high place?”
With that, she handed me a pair of binoculars.
“…Well, I guess that makes sense. Fine, let’s go.”
Sanae and I headed toward the Ferris wheel.
As we lined up, I spotted Riara a little ahead of us.
“So, now she’s riding the Ferris wheel. And look at that, holding hands so tightly. Seriously, she’s so carefree, completely oblivious to how people feel.”
“Indeed. I’m looking forward to next week even more now. By the way, Maria-san, who exactly were you looking for?”
“No one. Just someone who looked like an acquaintance.”
Even as I said that, my eyes kept scanning the line for Enjou.
But she was nowhere to be seen.
Was it just my imagination after all?
I kept moving forward with the line while thinking about it.
Eventually, after watching Riara and her companion board the Ferris wheel, it was our turn.
We got into the Ferris wheel together.
“Phew. I didn’t know amusement parks were this crowded.”
“Maria-san, you don’t usually come to places like this, do you?”
“Of course not. My dad is strict, and more importantly, I don’t have anyone to come with.”
“You could come with Asou-kun.”
“W-Well, I’m working on that. Anyway, what about you, Sanae? You’d look beautiful without your glasses. Don’t you have any interest in guys?”
“My interest in romance is probably stronger than that of the average teenager.”
“Huh, that’s surprising. Then you should try being a little cuter. There are plenty of guys out there.”
“I have my family business. I get some freedom now and then, but most of my time is spent at the shop.”
“Oh, right. Yeah, we both have it tough, huh?”
As we talked, I didn’t feel like I was the most unfortunate person in the world anymore.
Sanae had her own struggles. Riara had hers too.
Maybe realizing that meant I had grown up a little.
“Anyway, aren’t you supposed to be searching for someone?”
“Oh, right. So, do you remember that girl Enjou who came to the shop the other day? I’m looking for her.”
“Ah, I see. Understood. I won’t let her step into our sacred ground.”
We both raised our binoculars and looked down at the park from the rising Ferris wheel.
But no matter how long we searched, finding one person in this huge crowd was impossible.
It might have been a mistake.
She might have already left.
“She’s not here.”
“Yeah. Let’s take a break.”
“But for Maria-san to be worried about the president… You’ve really matured.”
“Shut up. It just pisses me off when someone other than me interferes with Riara.”
The Ferris wheel continued to rise slowly.
It had already gone so high that I couldn’t even make out the people walking below with the naked eye.
If only I could see this view with Asou-kun…
That thought crossed my mind when—
“By the way, they say that if a man and a woman ride this Ferris wheel together, they’ll stay together for life.”
Sanae suddenly said that, as if she had read my mind.
I blushed and lowered my gaze in embarrassment.
