I Ended Up Pretending to Be the Boyfriend of a Beautiful but Tough Classmate for Just a Month, but It Seems That She Has Awakened Her Yandere Tendencies Because of That. - Chapter 80-81
Chapter 80
♤
“Oh, it’s from Mika.”
Just as we arrived in front of the house, Takamiya got a message from Mika.
“Oh, right, it’s that time again.”
“Something up?”
|
“My haircut schedule. She’s asking if tomorrow morning works.”
|
“That should be fine. We’re going out in the afternoon anyway.”
“Alright, I’ll let her know. We’ll meet at Mika’s place tomorrow morning.”
“Huh? I’m coming too?”
“Of course. I’d hate it if you cheated on me while I’m stuck getting my hair cut.”
“With who…?”
I sighed, but the first person who crossed my mind was Enjou.
If I were alone, she’d definitely take that chance to show up.
Maybe it’s just easier to stay with Takamiya.
“Well, I’m having dinner with Mika now. I’ll text you when I get home.”
“Got it. Be careful.”
That was where I parted ways with Takamiya for the night.
But even after I got back to my room, even while texting her afterward, I felt lighthearted the whole time.
Tomorrow, I get to go on another date with Takamiya.
And on top of that, things between Jinguji and Takamiya seem to be improving.
Everything feels like it’s heading in the right direction.
The only issue left is Enjou.
…Maybe I should secretly ask Mika for some advice and see if she has any hints.
♡
“Hey, I’m supposed to talk with Maria soon. What do you think I should do?”
“Hmm, well, Maria’s a tsundere. As long as you don’t let her prickly attitude get to you, things should go fine.”
Having dinner with Mika like this was our usual routine, but I’d been spending so much time with Suzukaze lately that it felt like it had been ages.
It’s kind of strange.
I used to think Mika was the only person I had.
“Yeah, I’ll do my best. Oh, and tomorrow, I’m bringing Suzukaze with me.”
“Haha, I figured. I already prepared cake for you two.”
“Wow, you’re amazing. Honestly, I owe everything to you, Mika.”
I said that sincerely.
Mika just smiled in exasperation.
“Haha, it was just a coincidence. Besides, you can’t rely on me forever, you know?”
“I know. But Mika, you’ll always be special to me.”
“…Seriously. You’re such a handful.”
Mika laughed again, that mature, knowing smile of hers.
Even though she’s always right here with me, it feels like she’s been watching over me from afar.
“Alright, make me look amazing tomorrow, okay? We’re going to an amusement park for our date.”
“Leave it to me. We should head back after we finish eating. I need to wake up early to get everything ready.”
We finished our meal, chatting about random things, then left the restaurant together.
At the very end, Mika teased, “Wow, no gushing about Suzukaze tonight.”
Now that she mentioned it, I didn’t talk about him much.
But that’s probably because I don’t feel anxious anymore.
I don’t need to ask Mika for reassurance—I understand his feelings now.
I’ll see him tomorrow.
And the day after that. And the day after that too.
All of this is thanks to Mika.
I should properly thank her soon.
Her birthday’s coming up, after all.
Maybe I’ll plan a surprise with Suzukaze.
♤
“Hello? What’s up, calling this late?”
“What, is there a problem? Where are you? What were you doing? Something you don’t want me to hear?”
“No. I’m alone in my room.”
“R-Really? So, I was thinking of getting Mika a present. As a thank-you, and for her birthday too.”
“Oh, her birthday’s coming up? Then how about we look for something on our way back tomorrow?”
“Really? Alright, it’s settled. Don’t be late tomorrow.”
“I won’t. Goodnight.”
Even over the phone, I could tell Takamiya was excited.
And I’m sure she could tell I was too.
A thank-you gift for Mika, huh?
If it’s from Takamiya, she’ll definitely be happy.
Anyway, we have an early start tomorrow. Time to sleep.
♣︎
“Welcome home, Dad. I’ll be counting on you tomorrow.”
As I took my father’s suit jacket, I reminded him of the request I had already messaged him about.
“Yeah, got it. So, I just need to chat with Takamiya’s boyfriend while you’re busy cutting hair, right?”
“Yep. I can’t entertain both of them while working, so I’ll leave that to you. I’ll warm up dinner, so go take a bath first.”
“Alright. Thanks, Mika.”
“It’s fine. I can live like this thanks to you, after all.”
I gave his broad back a little push, nudging him toward the bathroom.
I’ll be counting on you tomorrow, Dad.
Tomorrow, Riara is coming over.
With Suzukaze.
Alright.
Time to get things ready for tomorrow.

Chapter 81
♤
“Excuse me for intruding.”
Sunday morning.
I met up with Takamiya in front of Mika’s house, and we entered together.
Mika greeted us as usual, calm and composed, with that all-knowing look on her face. She turned to me and said, “Riara will get distracted, so wait in the living room.”
Takamiya looked a little lonely but still went into Mika’s cutting room.
And so, I was left alone in the living room.
“…I feel kind of restless.”
As I sipped the coffee that was served to me, I fidgeted a little. Then, someone entered the living room.
“Ah, hello.”
A middle-aged man walked in and bowed his head slightly toward me.
Without thinking, I stood up.
“Uh, hello.”
“No need to be so formal. I’m Shinozaki Tarou, Mika’s father. Mika is always in your care.”
He had a gentle demeanor, and at a glance, he seemed like a really nice person. He looked a little younger than my parents.
“N-Nice to meet you. I’m Suzukaze Kyou. I came along with Takamiya for her haircut today.”
“Haha, I’ve heard about you from Mika. But since I was told you’re Takamiya’s boyfriend, I imagined someone with a stronger personality. You seem like a kind person.”
He said that gently, pouring himself a cup of coffee.
“Th-Thank you.”
“Haha, and you’re humble too. No wonder Mika gets jealous.”
“Jealous?”
“Oh, don’t mind that. Just talking to myself. Anyway, make yourself comfortable.”
With that, Mika’s father sat down across from me.
“I see, I see. Looks like Takamiya chose a good partner. That’s a relief.”
“…Um, when you say Takamiya, you mean Riara, right?”
“Yes, of course. Why?”
“Oh, no reason…”
From Mika’s father’s perspective, Takamiya was the daughter of his wife’s affair partner—a complicated relationship.
Yet, he accepted her as Mika’s friend without hesitation. I couldn’t help but feel a little strange about it.
Sensing my unease, he spoke up.
“By the way, I assume you’ve already heard about the situation between Takamiya’s family and ours?”
“Y-Yeah, more or less…”
My response was hesitant.
After all, the person sitting in front of me was the victim of that affair.
Takamiya and Mika were also victims in their own ways.
But thinking about what he must have gone through, I couldn’t bring myself to answer lightly.
“Haha, sorry for bringing up something awkward. And really, you don’t have to be so considerate. It happened years ago.”
“S-Sorry…”
“Hmm, but you really do seem like a good person. You know, I’ve always been concerned about Takamiya. She and Mika are both victims of what we adults did. But seeing her with someone like you puts my mind at ease. Take good care of her.”
He spoke as if he were Takamiya’s father.
His gentle tone as he talked about her was soon followed by a slightly sad expression.
“Hmm…”
“Is something wrong?”
“…There’s something I’d like to ask of you. Could you look after Mika as well?”
“Huh?”
“Sorry for suddenly saying something strange. Have you heard about her ability?”
“W-Well, she mentioned it a little…”
“I see. Mika ended up like this because of me. She has lost faith in people. She rejects things like bonds and connections. And as a result, she has distanced herself from others and ended up this way. That’s what I believe.”
He held his head in his hands and looked down.
“Um, did something happen?”
“Ah, sorry. I shouldn’t be showing this side of me to my daughter’s friend. The truth is, Mika asked me to convince you.”
“Convince me?”
“To break up with Takamiya. She wanted me to steer you in that direction.”
“…What?”
I froze.
I couldn’t believe my ears.
There’s no way Mika would say something like that.
She always put Takamiya first, doing everything for her happiness. There was no way…
“At first, I intended to do as Mika asked. I wondered if maybe you were a bad guy. But after talking to you and looking into your eyes, I understood. Mika is probably just jealous of you.”
“Mika? Jealous? Of me?”
“Most likely because she feels like Takamiya is being taken away from her. As you may have heard, she was deeply affected by her mother’s actions and became overly sensitive to certain things. The only person she could truly open up to was Takamiya. Now that she’s spending more time alone, she’s feeling unstable.”
Mika’s father raised his head and then bowed deeply again.
“I’m sorry for dragging you into all of this.”
“P-Please don’t do that. Besides, Mika might have her own reasons for what she said.”
“…You really are kind. But Mika is serious about this. I may not have her abilities, but as her father, I can tell. And as a parent, I don’t want her to become someone who would hurt her dear friends.”
For the third time, Mika’s father lowered his head.
Then, he said,
“I know it’s selfish of me to ask this, but could you keep what I just said a secret?”
“O-Of course. But, even if I do…”
“She’ll probably see right through it. And you should avoid checking on her. That girl’s senses are abnormal. She can tell who someone is and what they intend just from their footsteps. It’s almost… No, I’ve said too much. I’ll be in my room. Please make yourself comfortable.”
Mika’s father left the room, his back slightly hunched.
I took a sip of my now completely cold coffee and went over everything in my mind.
Could Mika really be jealous of me?
She was the one who supported our relationship the most.
So why would she do something that contradicts that…?
But, just as Mika’s father said, there was no fooling her.
She knew everything about my actions.
So for now, I should just stay put.
…Takamiya, are you okay?
