I Ended Up Pretending to Be the Boyfriend of a Beautiful but Tough Classmate for Just a Month, but It Seems That She Has Awakened Her Yandere Tendencies Because of That. - Chapter 30
Chapter 30
Mika.
I had heard that name from Takamiya so much that I immediately knew who she was.
“Ah, so you’re Mika.”
“You don’t need to use ‘san’ when addressing me, we’re classmates after all.”
“So, what do you want?”
“Ahaha, don’t be so cautious. I just wanted to talk to you for a bit.”
Even though it was our first time meeting, she sat next to me slowly with a familiar air, as if we had known each other for a long time.
“…Have you told Takamiya?”
“Not really. Oh, are you worried that if Riara sees us here, she’ll get mad? Ahaha, you really get it, as expected from your boyfriend.”
“You know that Takamiya and I aren’t in that kind of relationship, right?”
“Well, I was the one who suggested this plan in the first place. Does it make you mad?”
“Not really. If it was a while ago, I probably wouldn’t have wanted to see her face either.”
This person is the reason my peaceful daily life got turned upside down.
That’s why, if I ever had the chance to talk to her, I thought I’d complain at least once.
But now, things were a little different.
“Anyway, shouldn’t you get to the point? It’s about Takamiya, right?”
“You’re sharp. So, let me ask you right away, what do you think of Riara?”
“What do I think… At first, I thought she was a pain, but I don’t think she’s a bad person.”
“I see… I know I’m not really in a position to say this, but, if you could, would you want to avoid breaking up with Riara?”
While she casually took a piece of fried chicken from my lunchbox with the chopsticks she had been holding, she asked this with a carefree tone.
“I’m not going to break my promise. So that question is meaningless.”
“Well… I don’t think you need to be so stubborn. Even if you don’t like someone at first, as you get to know each other, you might change your mind.”
“I’ve told you most things, and I’ve heard about Takamiya as well.”
My past trauma.
Her past trauma.
My family.
Her family.
Our hobbies.
Our friendships.
Not everything, but we’ve shared quite a bit.
In that sense, I do feel like I’ve gotten closer to Takamiya than before.
But I don’t think Takamiya would fall for someone like me just because of that.
Neither would I.
I still don’t really understand what it’s like to like someone.
“Hmm, really? Did Riara talk about herself properly?”
“Her dad, right? She looked like it was hard for her, so I didn’t press her and let it go.”
“Hmm, I see… Her dad, huh?”
She said that with an ambiguous tone, and Mika stood up.
“That sounds like something you should pay attention to.”
“Not really. But I thought I should at least say this.”
Stretching both arms up for a big stretch, Mika slowly started walking away, turning her head as she said.
“I saw the speech you wrote, but your feelings aren’t in it at all, Suzukaze-kun.”
◇
“Ssn… Hey, was someone here?”
After Mika left, I was eating my lunch alone when Takamiya came back.
She frowned while sniffing around me.
“…No one’s here.”
Mika had said one last thing as she was leaving, “Oh, and don’t tell anyone about today.”
So, I lied.
“There’s some kind of smell of Mika.”
“That’s just your imagination.”
“Hmm, really? You’re not lying, right? Hey, if you lie, I’ll cut off your finger.”
“That doesn’t sound right, though.”
Still, what is up with her sense of smell?
How can she tell the scent of a woman so accurately?
I don’t think Mika was wearing perfume or anything.
“Anyway, there really was no one here?”
“No, there wasn’t. No one would come here.”
“Hmm, alright. But if you’re lying, I’ll kill you.”
“…”
I guess it wasn’t about fingers then.
It wasn’t the kind of atmosphere where I could make that kind of joke.
She had a serious look in her eyes, as if she might really do it, and after that, she slumped down as if the tension had drained out of her.
“Ha, I’m tired.”
“Did something happen with Jinguuji?”
“Not really. We just exchanged some sharp words. But still, I really don’t want to lose to that guy. I won’t lose to someone like him.”
Her eyes, as she hugged her knees and stared at one point, were more intense than usual.
“You just have to win.”
“Yeah, that’s true. But I’ll need your help too. Make sure you give a good speech.”
“By the way, you had Mika look at it, right? What did she say?”
The words Mika had left me.
She said my feelings weren’t in it.
I wanted to know what that meant, so I pretended not to hear anything and asked Takamiya.
“Well, she said the writing itself was fine, but there were no emotions in it. She suggested that more honest words might strike the target better.”
“Emotions, huh. Well, there’s probably no feeling in a fake relationship, to begin with.”
If I were Takamiya’s real boyfriend,
maybe I would have some intense feelings for her.
But in this relationship, how am I supposed to put any feelings into it? I have no idea.
“…What do you think of me?”
“What do you mean by that? Well, I guess I don’t think you’re as bad as I first thought.”
“Idiot.”
“Huh?”
“Never mind. Anyway, from today, you need to write essays every day. Not just for you, but for me too. I need to think about my own stuff.”
As we were talking, Takamiya’s stomach growled.
“Oh… I haven’t eaten anything yet.”
“Don’t you have your own lunch?”
“I stayed up late with Mika and overslept. But don’t worry about it, it’s my fault.”
Lunchtime was almost over.
If we went to the cafeteria now, we wouldn’t make it in time, and the bread at the store was probably sold out.
It would be too much to let me have my lunch while she skipped it, so I felt bad.
While I was in a rush, I suddenly remembered.
“…Hey, if you want, you can eat this.”
“Huh? Is it okay? Wait, why do you have this? Did you think I wouldn’t bring my lunch?”
“…I bought it just in case you didn’t have time to eat if the conversation took longer.”
I lied.
It wasn’t just because I didn’t want Takamiya to get mad at me again.
Probably, that wasn’t the only reason.
I just wanted to look good in front of her, so I made up an excuse.
“Heh, you’re thoughtful. Really, can I have it?”
“Of course. After you eat, we’ll go back to class.”
“What’s with you, acting all high and mighty just because you got a little compliment?”
As she said that, she happily ate the anpan she’d picked up.
Today, I’ve been lying all day.
I don’t like lies, and I don’t want to tell them because if they get found out, my life could be in danger.
“Heh, this is delicious. Thanks, Suzukaze-kun.”
Seeing Takamiya’s happy face might have made all the risks worth it.
I really don’t want to lie anymore.
But for today, I guess I’ll let it slide.
