- I Ended up Getting Close With the Class Madonna Who Keeps Rejecting Confessions, Saying She Doesn’t Plan to Date Anyone
- Chapter 6 - Gojou Sousuke Went on a Date
The weather was clear.
There wasn’t a single cloud covering the blue sky, and the sunlight shining over the city made it feel warmer than usual.
I wore a white shirt with a light gray cardigan over it, and beige chinos. I had been worried it might be chilly, but that was unnecessary.
It wasn’t stylish, but it wasn’t bad either. Fashion isn’t about how much something costs; it’s about how it looks.
I checked my watch. It was 10:50 a.m. Our meeting time was eleven, so I still had a bit of time left.
A train left the big station in front of me, and passengers started streaming out through the ticket gates.
We were meeting in front of the ticket gates at Minakura Station.
My meeting partner is Kokonoe Shinoba.
“Ah, Sousuke-kun!”
Shinoba spotted me as she came out of the gate and ran over.
She wore a white blouse with frills and a pastel pink flared skirt. When I glanced down, I saw she had on low heels.
When she reached me, she let out a small breath and wiped her forehead with the back of her hand. She seemed to feel the heat, too.
Up close, my eyes almost drifted toward her chest, which was clearly showing its shape. I had to look away on purpose before my guy instincts got the better of me.
“Ahaha, I was actually planning to take an earlier train, but I missed it.”
She was slim overall, yet her chest stood out. Her figure could easily rival a model’s.
“I’m sorry, did I make you wait?”
“No, I came one train early, so it’s fine. Anyway, shall we go, Shinoba?”
Saying her name still felt strange, and I couldn’t stop the awkward smile that came with it.
This date was decided on the day we made our contract. Three days ago.

“…Alright. I’ll accept your proposal. But on one condition.”
After thinking over the pros and cons of becoming Kokonoe’s fake boyfriend, that was the answer I gave her.
“…Huh?”
Kokonoe froze with a silly look on her face and was still smiling, as if her brain had stopped working for a second.
“What’s that reaction supposed to be? You don’t like that there’s a condition?”
“Oh, no, it’s not that. I just didn’t think you’d agree so easily.”
She laughed awkwardly while trying to play it off.
Well, I couldn’t blame her. Knowing me, she probably expected I’d turn down such a one-sided request without even thinking about it.
That’s why she looked so surprised when I actually agreed.
“You really came all the way here thinking it probably wouldn’t work out?”
“It wasn’t that I thought it was hopeless. I just figured I might as well try asking anyway.”
That’s not a bad mindset, I thought.
Though making a move when your chances are slim isn’t exactly logical. Still, since I ended up saying yes, she wasn’t wrong. Timing was on her side.
“Um, so what’s your condition?”
At her uneasy question, I raised three fingers and held my hand out in front of her. She flinched a little, then straightened her back and looked serious again.
“Three months. That’s how long I’ll be your fake boyfriend.”
“…Why three months?”
“Because I’ve judged that three months is enough for me to get the benefits of your proposal.”
“What kind of benefits?”
“There’s no need for me to tell you now. I’ll say it when I think it’s necessary.”
“But that means you’ll only be able to stop confessions for three months…”
“During those three months, you can come up with a new plan. It’s only temporary, but avoiding the start of the new school term is a big deal, don’t you think?”
“Th-that’s true…”
Kokonoe bit her lip and fell silent. It seemed she understood what I meant.
When the new term starts, the classes will change.
Any guys who end up in the same class as her will start thinking they have a chance and will probably confess. Then she’ll be stuck rejecting them one after another again.
That’s why being able to clearly say she already has a boyfriend during that time is a big advantage.
“If you can accept that condition, then let’s make it official.”
“…By the way.”
“What?”
“If, during these three months, you start to feel like there’s a new benefit in staying together, would you think about continuing it?”
“If I do feel that way, then yeah.”
Kokonoe looked down for a few seconds, her expression troubled. She was probably thinking it over carefully.
Then she lifted her head. Her face was completely serious; she had made up her mind.
“Alright. That’s fine with me… no, please. Sousuke-kun.”
She stood up and held out her hand to me.
Switching from calling me by my last name to my first name was probably her way of showing she was serious about this.
And adding a handshake to seal the deal, it wasn’t a bad way to make it official.
Thinking that, I took her hand. It felt soft. It was much softer than I expected. So this is what a girl’s hand feels like. A new discovery.
“Please take care of me… Shinoba.”
And the very next day.
I got a message from Kokonoe that said, “Let’s go on a date.”
*
“So, what are we doing today?”
After meeting up in front of the station, I took the lead and started walking.
For this date, I had asked Shinoba for one thing, “Let me be the one to plan it.”
I figured it would be a good way to test my current dating skills, and besides, it’s a rare chance to hear what a real girl thinks.
“I made a schedule and took some notes. Take a look.”
I unlocked my phone, opened the memo app, and showed her the date plan I had spent a full hour putting together last night. Then I handed her my phone.
“You’re giving me your phone so easily?”
“I’ve got nothing to hide. But if you start snooping around, I’ll lower your trust level by one point.”
“I’m not sure what that means, but alright, I’ll keep that in mind…”
She took my phone and looked at the screen.
Then.
“Pfft… a, haha!”
She suddenly burst out laughing.
Why?
What’s so funny?
Was there something to laugh at in there?
While I stood there confused, she looked up at me and delivered another blow.
“Hey, Sousuke-kun. Are you serious about this?”
“…What did you just say?”
