- Chapter 13 - Gojou Anju Felt Suspicious
I have a problem.
Lately, the comment section on my self-written novels has been a mess.
There were always a few negative comments here and there, but I could accept those, and it didn’t bother me much.
But now, someone has appeared who actively goes after those negative commenters.
Watching their exchanges, I could tell they were huge fans of mine, but they were filling up the whole comment section.
“…Maybe I should write something new.”
My date with Shinoba had given me inspiration and some useful experiences. Maybe I could finish this story neatly and start something new.
Just as I was thinking that, someone knocked lightly on my bedroom door. I looked over.
It was my little sister, Gojou Anju. She had already opened the door and quietly slipped in. Not a sound. It was like a ninja had snuck in…
“Do you know what knocking means?”
“Of course.”
“Say it.”
“It’s an action to tell someone you’re here.”
“No. It’s an action to check the inside. Don’t just enter without permission.”
“Do you have something you don’t want me to see?”
She gave me a sideways glare.
Her mid-length black hair had a blue tint. Her gray-blue eyes were clear and bright, like jewels. Her skin was pale, she was a bit short, and her body was slim, without much of a girlish figure.
“You could be changing clothes. You’d be upset if I walked in on you, right?”
“That’s not a problem. There’s nothing I’m hiding from you. I can show you everything. Should I take my clothes off?”
“No.”
Anju spoke so calmly and confidently that I rubbed my temple. I guess arguing with her was useless. Wasting time on nonsense wasn’t worth it.
“So, what do you want?”
“Do I need a reason to come to big brother’s room? If I had to say one, it’s that I wanted to talk to you.”
“…I’m not free right now.”
These past few days, maybe because of graduating from middle school, she had been out with friends and acting calm. But now that she has settled down, this happened.
“If you’re busy, I can help too. Just tell me.”
“That’s not really something you can help with.”
While we were talking, Anju walked over without permission, sat on my bed, and pulled out her phone. If you’re going to use your phone, just get out of here.
“What are you doing?”
“Routine patrol.”
“…Of what?”
It’s hard to admit, but Anju’s world always revolved around me. Most of her actions somehow involved me.
She wasn’t the type to browse SNS just to follow trends, so the phrase routine patrol gave me a bad feeling.
“I’m checking to see if anyone is messing with your masterpiece.”
“So it’s you!”
I had a feeling from the way comments were written, but I didn’t actually think it was her. Or at least, I hoped it wasn’t…
“Fools who can’t appreciate your amazing work? I’ll crush them all, so you can keep creating in peace.”
“That’s not peace. Stop it right now.”
“But…”
“Having a crazy fan on top of bad writers just creates more problems.”
Also, there’s no way I want my little sister looking at my work. Even if I told her not to, she’d probably see it anyway. Maybe I should make a new account…
“…You really are thinking of me…”
She looked a little down and was clearly hurt.
Maybe I was too harsh. Her actions were extreme, but her intentions were for me.
“…I’m sorry, I said too much.”
“I’m hurt. The only way to heal is to lie down on your bed.”
“Do as you like.”
She let out a happy sound and flopped onto the bed. If that cheers her up, it’s worth it. Unlike Mom, keeping her happy isn’t hard.
“While I’m at it, can I ask one more thing?”
“What is it?”
Even though I told her to leave, Anju didn’t budge. I gave up and focused on making a new account on the writing site.
Then she said something that caught me off guard.
I thought I could answer casually, so I did.
But.
“Who is Kokonoe Shinoba?”
I couldn’t help but be shocked that she actually said that.
*
“She’s just a classmate. Nothing more, nothing less.”
I answered Anju’s unexpected question. I was shaken, but I don’t think it showed on my face.
Still, Anju seemed to have her own thoughts, and she kept giving me a suspicious look.
“You’re lying. I know you are. So get ready, I won’t move from here until you tell me the truth.”
She said about an hour ago.
She had been sitting on the bed, but eventually she lay down and fell fast asleep.
“…”
Did she hear something from Mom?
But I hadn’t said anything to Mom. I didn’t want to deal with this.
Maybe I was careless. If Shinoba told her mother something, it’s not strange that the information reached Mom. So most likely, Anju heard it from Mom.
For Shinoba’s sake, it’s not good if Anju finds out the truth. I should take the lead and introduce Shinoba before Anju runs wild.
Even if I had avoided it, this would have happened sooner or later.
I took out my phone and sent Shinoba a message.
“Can we meet soon?”
She read it almost immediately. I thought she’d be busy hanging out with friends, but maybe she was free today.
“Yeah, is something wrong?”
I saw her message and sighed, looking at Anju still sleeping soundly on the bed.
“Actually―”
The next day.
Kokonoe Shinoba was visiting the Gojou house for the third time already.

I’m sorry for the timing, but I’ll need a little time to prepare for writing the next chapter.
The next update is planned for <(Thursday) October 30th>, so I hope you look forward to it.
In the next chapter, his younger sister Anju will start to suspect the relationship between Sousuke and Shinoba…
