Chapter 62: Brutal Boot Camp—Kanata Style!
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Special thanks to the noble +1 Donor of Push Offerings!
I received an adorable illustration of the Morally-Loose Mascot, Naro-chan, and Little Riru-chan!
(Seriously, describing her as a “marshmallow-headed white cat-bat” sounded completely insane—so the visual really helped!)
━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Three days left until the Supreme-Class Conceptual Spirit [Erasure] appears.
Which means—priority #1: get ready for the final battle.
This particular enemy, [Erasure], was a textbook “one-hit-kill” monster. To make it worse, it didn’t just snipe—it had area-wide attacks. The kind that vaporize everything in a single, fat laser beam of doom.
So—time for intense training.
“Let’s go, Setsuna, Riru. Everything I’m about to do… is because I care about you.”
“”Hiee~~! Your love is too intense~~!!””
Inside the celestial space known as [Evernight Blooming Moon of Pandemonium],
I soared through the air, fully decked out in my Conceptual Spirit Gear,
Raining down attacks on the two girls relentlessly.
It was all for their own good—
To sharpen their reflexes and crank their evasion stats to the max.
“Dodge this, Setsuna. [Doll] and [Blank Shot], assist: Five Blades of Deadly Wings—FIRE.”
Using a spirit-thread connection from Conceptual Spirit [Doll] and a shockwave boost from [Blank Shot], the vibrating blade at my waist lit up with red particles and locked on to Setsuna with laser precision.
“K-K-K-Kanata, you brute! You evil DV baby!!”
“Who are you calling a DV baby?”
Setsuna shouted something dumb again, but she was actually handling it like a pro—skating freely through the sky on an ice hoverboard, dodging every single strike by a razor-thin margin.
Seriously, this woman’s amazing.
No wonder she’s Class-1.
In the future where Ouma ends up a broken man, she becomes a major figure in the Spirit Conductor Agency.
“Alright, Riru—you don’t get to slack off either. Activating Object Imbuing… Become my blade—[Motorcycle]!”
I pulled something out of my pocket—a simple motorcycle handle grip.
That was the medium.
Holding it like a sword hilt, I summoned the Conceptual Spirit [Motorcycle] into it. Spiritual energy surged out, reshaping the object—turning it into a bizarre, monster-like mechanical greatsword.
It looked like a bike had morphed into a giant weapon.
The tire section spun wildly—it had a massive circular chainsaw built right in.
Riru took one look and squealed:
“W-W-W-W-WHAT is thaaaat!? That’s way too scary!!”
“My Object Imbuing is currently ranked B. And finally… I’m starting to pull off some advanced moves close to full Object Imbuing Manifestation.”
Basic-level Object Imbuing only lets you do two things:
-Either give spiritual power to an object,
-Or turn a spirit into an object outright.
But—if you can finely tune into a spirit’s soul and manipulate it in detail, you can start creating way more versatile weapons.
“Alright—let’s roar.”
I twisted the grip.
A loud BWUUNNN echoed from inside the greatsword,
The internal chain revved up, and the massive blade began spinning at full speed—!
“EEEEK!!?”
“This is what’s called a chainsword. You better run, Riru. If this hits you, it’s gonna hurt.”
“That’s not a hurt kind of weapon—That’s a DEATH kind of weapon!!”
Riru bolted away on all fours, kicking into full-on panic sprint mode.
She was fast.
Zipping from shadow to shadow using her movement skills, and mixing in some serious raw speed too.
“Good to see. Your body’s looking a lot better.”
I laughed as I chased after her.
Looks like all that crazy therapy paid off.
In our earlier battles, she only relied on shadow movement—probably because her body had been too weak.
And if that was all she could do?
Easy. Just target the surrounding shadows before she moved and catch her before she even blinked.
“Not letting you get close!”
A glowing blood-red magic circle bloomed in her hands—
And from it, thirteen red-black wolves burst out.
Bloodfang Homunculus—her personal blood-born summons.
The pack immediately lunged at me, forming a shield around Riru.
Nice. She was shaping up to be a proper long-range Reisoushi now.
With her improved agility, her summon art for stalling, and even her regeneration boost under moonlight—Riru was becoming seriously annoying to deal with.
She still lacked a definitive finisher, sure—
But in terms of “target disruption,” she was perfect.
I could see her playing a key role in the upcoming fight against the Supreme-Class Conceptual Spirit, [Erasure].
Setsuna too, with her aerial mobility, was someone I had high hopes for.
“Uuuuugh, Kanata! Is it really true that [Erasure] is going to appear soon!?”
“Yeah. According to her, anyway.”
『It’s absolutely true~!』
With a soft pop, a fuzzy white cat-bat blob appeared beside me.
Formerly known as Medium Nashiro Hiraga—
Now reborn as Digital Fairy Naro-chan.
『Do you doubt my elite-level data integration and predictive analysis, Miss Kiddie Pool?』
“Who are you calling Kiddie Pool!?”
I’d introduced her as a “half-spirit digital creature I just happened to find.”
Which, technically… wasn’t a lie.
After all, the only reason Nashiro Hiraga was able to become an AI-like being in the first place
Was thanks to her affinity with the Conceptual Spirit [Electronic].
When Ouma Shiranui executed her, she sacrificed one of her own egg cells—and in that final moment, she gave birth to herself in the digital world.
It was a desperation move, only made possible because she’d become a non-living entity—
Letting her fully sync with [Electronic] and escape as pure data.
Kinda ironic, isn’t it?
Nashiro, who got executed for creating illegal demi-humans—
Ended up becoming a demi-human herself in the end.
『Hmph! A brainless pork dumpling like you has no right to be Lord Kanata’s official wife!』
“Brainless pork dumpling!?”
『Yes, you! Take this, Hologram Spit—peh, peh!』
“GYAAAH!?”
Apparently, Naro-chan used to have a pretty sleek figure back when she was alive.
So she’s extra savage toward Setsuna.
“I’m gonna kill youuuu!!”
『I’m gonna kill youuuu!!』
The two of them launched into a full-on sewer-grade shouting match.
And Setsuna was still dodging my attacks while doing it.
Honestly… kind of impressive.
“You stupid cat-hair furball!”
『How dare you call me a cat-hair furball!?』
“Hmph. …Well, I’ll let it slide. Because just like me, you also care about Kanata.”
She said that, cheeks turning a little pink.
Her vocabulary was less “high-class lady” and more “gutter warrior,”
But… she really is a good person at heart.
Still, the moment she turned to me, she puffed up and started stomping angrily.
“But Kanata! Trying to capture a Supreme-Class Conceptual Spirit!? That’s absolutely insane, you ridiculous baby!!”
“Who’re you calling a ridiculous baby?”
Spiritual energy shift: lightning element.
I channeled the current through my fingers and unleashed a barrage of electromagnetic lasers from the ends of my spirit-threaded blade wings.
“WAAGYAAAAAAH!?”
Setsuna shrieked as she barely evaded every shot.
She might act like a fool, but man, her stats are top-tier.
“Well, yeah, even I know how ridiculous this is… (I mean, it’s not like I planned to go that far from the start.)”
But it was only after Digital Fairy Naro-chan got all fired up that I realized something.
If we actually pulled this off…
It might just be enough of a trump card to make the Holy Empire (Libertaria) give up on invading altogether.
That’s why I told the two of them: “We’re going to capture the Supreme-Class Conceptual Spirit.”
“But you two don’t have to push yourselves to come with me, got it?”
““Too late for that!!””
Setsuna launched an ice bullet, and Riru followed with a shot of blood arts.
I barely managed to block both—wait, they’re seriously counterattacking now!?
“Trying to capture a Supreme-Class Conceptual Spirit? And with just a handful of people? That’s so reckless it’s exciting!”
“I’ll follow you, Lord Kanata… anywhere!”
Two girls—one with calm blue hair, the other with serene silver.
They might look composed… but inside, they were blazing with determination.
“You two…”
This mission—capturing the Supreme-Class Conceptual Spirit [Erasure]—
I’d already decided the best shot we had was with a small elite team.
No point bringing a huge group. That thing’s wide-range beam would just vaporize everyone.
In my previous life, dozens died because of that exact mistake.
And the longer the battle drags on for the sake of capturing it, the more people die.
So, we go with the elite few.
I’d be the attacker.
The other two would focus on scattering aggro—keeping the spirit’s attention moving.
The elite team “Yatagarasu” might show up partway through.
But I’ve already formed a bond with them, so if I tell them, “Leave it to us—go scatter the other Reisoushi,” they’ll probably listen.
Because the last thing I want… is any more pointless casualties.
“It’s seriously dangerous, you know…”
Even as I said that, both girls just grinned fearlessly.
“Ufufufu~. But if we pull it off, we’ll get so much glory, right?! The name of my family—House Kirisame—will skyrocket, and if I flash our family crest during forum wars, I’ll totally win every argument!”
“The whole world will see just how amazing Lord Ouma’s daughter really is…! I’m gonna spit in Kirara Houjou’s smug face—metaphorically, of course!”
…Wow. These girls were absolutely blazing with personal ambition.
What a thick-skinned family I’ve gotten tangled up with.
Still, thanks to that, I can drag them into this mess guilt-free.
“Alright then. Back to the dodge-training session. Come on now—run, run!”
““Noooo!!””
They cried out like toddlers being chased by a vacuum cleaner, but even while screaming, they zipped through the sky with flips and dashes, skillfully using summoned ice warriors and bloodfang wolves as shields to avoid my attacks.
Gotta admit—they’re seriously impressive.
“Try holding out for just one more minute, alright? (Even if [Erasure] never shows up, I still want the two of them to grow stronger…)”
Things were only going to get worse in Japan from here on out.
Five years from now, the dark hand of the Holy Empire—Libertaria—would creep in, and there’s a chance that Ouma Shiranui, the head of the Spirit Conductor Agency, might end up a broken man.
A year from now, the dungeon in Yokohama would spiral out of control.
Fifty thousand civilians in the city would die.
Two years from now, the medium cult Golden Dawn would transform Hokkaido into a twisted otherworld, overflowing with Cthulhu-type horrors.
Five million would die in Hokkaido alone.
Then there was the Northern European economic bloc Viking Fleet, which would fracture from within due to Libertaria’s schemes and fall into vassalage.
That collapse would cut off the East Asia Sphere from vital fantasy materials like the Black Crimson Silk of Arachne, Behemoth’s Heavy Hide, Succubus Honey, and Yggdrasil’s Spirit Sap—severely weakening our reisoushi’s equipment.
And like with the current [Erasure] incident, future disasters might start showing up even earlier than they were supposed to.
That’s exactly why—
“Okay, scratch that. You’re holding out for five minutes now.”
“”You sadist!!!””
While also working on my own training, I made sure to thoroughly drill both of them into shape.

[Tips]
Yamada & Tanaka:
These two actually passed as Class-3 reisoushi, which is quite impressive since most applicants only make it to Class-4.
Still, they’re lacking experience, so for now, Kanata’s leaving them behind.
They were so heartbroken about it they started losing it, muttering stuff like:
“If only we were girls…”
“Wait, what if we cross-dressed!?”
Yeah… they’ve completely lost the plot.
