Will That Kiss Ever Transcend the Digital Realm?
Thanks to Setsuna’s devoted support, I managed to regain my composure somehow.
I succeeded in taking photo evidence, such as when those two coming out of the movie theatre and where they seemed to get along well.
After talking briefly with Setsuna at the station, we parted ways.
Right now, I’m lazing around on my bed.
I tried to distract myself with household chores to avoid thinking about it.
However, whenever I have some free time, I can’t help but to remember Yukina’s smile.
Every time I remember her, my chest tightens.
However, each time as well, I feel more and more angry of what she has done to our relationship.
At first, finding out Yukina cheating on me, I feel nothing but sadness and emptiness, memories of us together came flooding back.
But right now, those memories are starting to make me angry instead.
As I lay on the bed with no one to vent my helpless feelings to, I hear the sound of the front door opening.
I figure it must be Dad returning from his weekend work shift.
Peeking into the living room, sure enough, Dad is there.
“I’m home, Yukito.”
“Welcome home, Dad.”
“…Yukito. What’s wrong? You look down. Did something happen?”
It must’ve been so obvious that Dad noticed it as soon as he got home.
“…no, it’s nothing. Just feeling a bit sleepy.”
“I see. Well, as long as it’s nothing serious. But if anything happens, make sure to let me know, okay? If something were to happen to you, your mom in heaven would surely scold me.”
“Haha, yeah, you’re right. Dinner is ready, want to eat?”
“Yeah, let’s eat.”
“Got it. Just wait a minute.”
Talking with Dad distracts me a bit and eases my mind.
After having dinner together, Dad said he is going to take care of the dishes and other household chores today, so I went straight to take a bath.
After drying my hair and brushing my teeth, I crawl into bed.
I don’t feel like studying today…
I don’t want to think about anything, so I close my eyes and try to sleep.
Suddenly, my phone vibrates.
Looking at the screen, I see a call from Setsuna.
‘Good evening, Yukito. Are you okay now?’
‘Yeah. I’m fine now. Just lying in bed trying to sleep.’
‘I see. Sorry for bothering you while you’re trying to sleep.’
‘It’s okay. So, what’s up?’
‘Ah…well, I was just worried about you, Yukito. I thought you might be feeling down and I wanted to check on you. I figured even if it’s just me, talking to someone might help distract you a bit.’
I can imagine Setsuna’s sympathetic face over the call.
‘Thanks, Setsuna. How about we talk until one of us falls asleep? Are you going to bed after this?’
‘Eh?! Y-Yeah. Just going to bed.’
I can hear rustling over the phone.
Setsuna must’ve crawled into bed.
With that, the two of us talk to each other casually.
After talking for a while, I start to feel sleepy.
Before falling asleep, there is something I have to tell Setsuna.
‘Setsuna.’
‘Hmm? What is it?’
‘Thank you so much for today. Thanks to you, I feel a lot better. I’m glad you were there, Setsuna.’
‘Eh!? Oh, um, I see. Well, I’m glad to hear that.’
Just like that, I drift off to sleep.

Setsuna’s POV
Through the call, I can tell that Yukito is sleeping soundly.
Before I knew it, I hug my phone against my chest, imagining as if I’m embracing Yukito.
‘Thank you so much for today. Thanks to you, I feel a lot better. I’m glad you were there, Setsuna.’
No matter how many times I think about that, it still makes my heart race with excitement.
My emotions are all mixed up, but one thing I know for sure is…I love Yukito.
Since returning home today, I’ve been thinking about Yukito non-stop.
Of course, I wanted to check on Yukito to make sure that he’s okay, but more than anything, I just wanted to talk to him.
However, I never imagined he would end up falling asleep during our call.
By the way, when Onee-chan came home earlier…
‘Where did you go?’
I asked her so.
Onee-chan seemed flustered and quickly replied.
‘I-I went to see a movie with a friend. Um, I’m going to take a bath now.’
With that, she ran away.
A quite close male friend, it seems.
It truly makes my skin crawl.
I don’t even want to think about the fact that she’s my sister.
Not only did she betray Yukito, but she also knows that I like him, yet she still did such thing.
It’s really sickening.
Why did I let Yukito fall for someone like that?
I feel like punching my past self for it.
‘Fun…~’
The sound of Yukito’s breathing from my phone somehow calms my heart.
‘Goodnight, Yukito…chu~’
I gently kiss the screen of my phone before ending the call.
