Vol 1 Chapter 3 – Target Amount—100 Million Yen【Vol 1: A Man Who Wants to Buy a Slave】
Perhaps my prayers to Quark got through, because the two orcs that appeared in the room grumbled complaints as they returned to their lair. I shed tears of relief at the return of peace. I was truly glad I could protect my chastity.
However, my series of reactions seemed to have exposed my true nature to Quark, and he sighed with an exasperated expression.
“Pardon me, sir. This is your first time purchasing a slave, isn’t it?”
“Yes… but I won’t lose to anyone when it comes to the desire to make a slave happy! Buying a cute slave girl who’s been treated cruelly and making her happy has been my dream since forever!! Then I want her to give me my first time, and we’ll build a happy family together!!”
I gave up on lying to Quark and laid bare my desires. Surely this gentleman would sympathize and do everything he could to help make my dream come true.
That’s what I thought, but upon hearing my statement, Quark sneered mockingly.
“Unfortunately, sir. Your dream will never come true.”
“Wh-Why not?! Even I should have the right to save a cute slave girl! Are you saying I don’t have the right to get cozy and lovey-dovey?!”
“Haah… it seems you have very little knowledge about slaves themselves.”
My desperate plea seemed to have no effect on Quark whatsoever. If anything, he appeared to be getting somewhat annoyed.
Furrowing his brow, Quark retrieved a file from a cabinet in the room and placed it before me. The file read “Slave Purchase Regulations.”
When our eyes met, he indicated with his chin that I should read this book. Reluctantly, I picked up the file and began skimming from the first page.
“Certainly, up until a dozen or so years ago, as you say, there were many women who sold their bodies due to various circumstances. That was because the Rodest Kingdom was at war with other nations, and there were many victims.”
After confirming I’d started reading the chapter titled “History of Slaves,” Quark suddenly began speaking. As if supplementing the content written on the pages, Quark explained matter-of-factly.
“However, the war has now ended, and the nation has provided compensation to those who suffered. Thanks to that, unless there are extraordinary circumstances, there are no slaves who would sell their bodies anymore.”
“Wha… what…”
Learning this shocking truth, I froze involuntarily. The slaves who sell their bodies that Quark mentioned must be what I call sex slaves. If they don’t exist, that means my dream can never come true.
Seeing me frozen in shock, Quark continued speaking without changing his expression.
“Currently, there are basically only two types of slaves: household slaves and knowledge slaves. Well, very rarely there are slaves like Annu who entertain their masters with exceptional talent.”
Finishing his explanation, Quark let out a derisive laugh as if mocking me.
Even slaves like Annu are extremely rare, yet you think sex slaves like you’re seeking could possibly exist?
Though he hadn’t actually said those words, I could hear them coming from his mouth, and I involuntarily covered my ears. The life with slaves I’d dreamed about for years was vanishing like bubbles in water.
As if my feelings meant nothing to him, Quark picked up the regulation book and returned it to its original place.
“The ‘sex slaves’ you’re seeking only exist in cases where there are extraordinary circumstances requiring them to be bought at a high price, leaving them no choice but to list it as available—otherwise, you’ll only find elderly women like earlier or truly eccentric individuals. I’m sorry, but please give up.”
With that, Quark opened the door and gestured with his palm toward the outside, telling me to leave. As a last desperate attempt, I clung to Quark’s leg and tearfully pleaded.
“W-Wait a minute! Then how am I supposed to get cozy with a slave?! I saved up an entire platinum coin just to fulfill that dream!! Isn’t there any way?!”
“Slaves now have guaranteed human rights, and they’re guaranteed a sufficient living without going that far. You must provide slaves with clothing and meals. It’s the master’s responsibility. If you want sexual relations, why don’t you go to a brothel?”
“That’s not the saaame!! It’s good because you do it with a cute slave girl while loving each other! Are you even a slave shop owner?! I’m disappointed in you, damn it!”
At my voice echoing throughout the establishment, employees came swarming from down the hallway. Quark dealt with them in an annoyed manner and tried to shake me off his leg.
However, there was no way someone like me who’d been granted cheat abilities could be shaken off by ordinary force, and Quark spent the next several dozen minutes struggling to peel me off.
Eventually, worn down by my refusal to detach, Quark reluctantly began speaking.
“Hah, hah, hah… very well then! If you insist, your only option is to participate in the ‘Slave Auction’ held several times a year! If you go there, you might meet the ‘female slave with circumstances capable of sexual relations’ that you desire!”
“R-Really?! When! When and where is it held?! Please take me there!!”
I released Quark’s leg and desperately prostrated myself in supplication. While straightening his suit that had been disheveled from the earlier struggle, Quark began explaining the details.
“The venue is in the royal capital. However, to enter the venue, you need proof of being recognized as a premium member and an entrance fee of one platinum coin. From there, to win a bid at the auction, you’ll need roughly ten platinum coins or more.”
“N-No way…”
Just when a ray of hope had finally appeared, hearing the astronomical amount of ten platinum coins turned everything white before my eyes again. At this rate, who knows how many years it would take to participate in the auction and win a slave.
To me, standing at the precipice of despair, Quark continued as if delivering the final blow.
“Also, pardon me, but do you own a house, sir?”
“A h-house? No, I’m living in an inn, so I don’t have a house… why do you ask?”
Hearing my response, Quark displayed a sly smile. From that meaningful grin, I could tell he was about to convey something unfavorable to me.
“Heh… you must provide slaves with private rooms or a shared room for slaves. Therefore, you must own at least a 2LDK house to even purchase a ‘regular slave.'”
“I-Impossible!! Then meeting my ‘destined slave-chan’ is…”
Standing at the precipice of despair for the third time, I went blank and simply looked up at the heavens.
God. Why did you reincarnate me into such a world?
“Sir, the exit is that way. We look forward to your next visit.”
To me, unable to move, Quark spat out a sarcastic line. Surely he thinks I’ll never come here again. Unable to respond to Quark’s sarcasm, I desperately moved my body that felt like it was turning to ash and left the establishment.
