The fact that Lichter-sama and Marianna-sama, who are members of the royal family, are very friendly towards the people is also a secret to their popularity. 

As can be seen from my previous interactions with them, they treat me, a dragon handler, in the same way, and of course, they do not change their attitude towards other people.

“Sorry for calling you out of the blue.”

That’s why even though I was called like this, I was not too scared. 

Perhaps considering the attention that would be drawn if it were in the throne room, Lichter-sama and Marianna-sama called me to a separate room. 

I had some speculation about why they called me here, but I decided to listen to what they had to say.

“It’s about your wedding with Luna-dono. As we’ve been saying all along, we won’t make it too grandiose, so please rest assured.”

I nodded. It is a great honor for me to have the royal family involved in our wedding preparations, but when it comes to Runa, it’s not entirely wrong to be cautious. 

Runa’s ability to take on a human form is still a secret, so we need to maintain the appearance of a wedding between me and a regular human Runa.

“For us, the royal family, to take a personal interest in the wedding of a dragon handler… it will surely draw many skeptical eyes. Therefore, it is also a way to show our appreciation for you, who serve the Dragon Queen, and to ease any potential concerns.”

“I see.”

“Well, rest assured. The attendees will be people we trust, as well as your acquaintances… and to ensure that there will be no trouble no matter what happens, we will have Lena and Kia, who both like you, by your side.”

If that’s the case, then there shouldn’t be any trouble at all… 

However, it’s truly appreciated that the royal family is considering both Runa’s situation and mine as well as members of the royal family. This should work out nicely.

“I really appreciate it. Thank you, Lichter-sama and Marianna-sama.”

“Don’t worry about it.”

“Yes, I’m just happy to be of help.”

After a brief conversation, I left their presence. 

The suggestion of not making it too extravagant was very much appreciated. 

While Runa was enthusiastic about having a wedding ceremony with me, she didn’t seem to care about who would attend. The important thing was that we were getting married.

“…But, I never thought it would happen.”

It was truly unexpected. 

I had hoped that we could build a good relationship since we had always communicated well, but I never expected us to become so close and for my feelings to remain unchanged even after finding out Runa was not a human but a dragon.

“Oh, right, the ring.”

I know that at times like this, a ring is necessary. 

Fortunately, I have a good salary and some extra money saved up since I don’t usually spend much. 

Speaking of money, I remembered that Runa had been saving money since she became human and had already surpassed my savings by a significant amount, which surprised me.

“I am the queen of dragons, you know? I have plenty of money!”

She said this with pride, and it was very cute. 

Since I had already finished taking care of Runa for the day, I headed to the craftsman’s shop in the castle town to get a ring made. 

This shop was where Rito had also gotten a ring made for his wife, so it was a small connection.

“Excuse me.”

“Hey there. Just a moment.”

The man who came out was not just muscular, but extremely muscular. 

When I told him that I would be getting married soon, he congratulated me and promised to make the best ring.

“Oh, by the way, do you have any red jewels?”

“We just received some rubies today, but they’re pretty expensive. The price will jump up quite a bit.”

“That’s okay. Will this be enough?”

“Man, you’re pretty rich, huh? Alright, I got it. I’ll set it in this one, okay?”

“Please.”

I chose a red jewel simply because it was the same color as Runa’s eyes. 

She probably doesn’t care about decorative items, but a wedding ring is supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime thing… Well, things might change if I were to break up with Runa and remarry, but that future seems highly unlikely.

“…?”

I thought I heard Runa’s voice saying “Isn’t that obvious?” but it might have been my imagination.

With everything I wanted to do today now finished, I headed back to my lodging… and when I stood in front of the building, I felt a little sentimental.

“Come to think of it, I’ve been sleeping here ever since I came to the capital.”

After marrying Runa and talking with her, I plan to have a home of our own. 

By using her magic to connect a part of our room to the world of dragons, Runa and I will truly be able to spend our days under the same roof. 

She’s already talked to Lichter-sama about it, and I’m looking forward to the day it becomes a reality… but I also feel a little lonely.

“Oh, you’re back, Xeno.”

“Hey there, old man…”

“Hmm? What’s up?”

The old man here has always taken care of me while I’ve been here. 

He’s been like a parent to me… I haven’t told Rito and the others yet, but I told the old man straight up.

“Old man, I’m going to get married soon.”

His eyes widened, but he didn’t doubt me and said with a smile, 

“Is that so? Congratulations.”

“…Hehe.”

“Well, if that’s the case, let’s get you something good to eat today.”

“Thanks!”

That day, the meal the old man made for me was incredibly luxurious and delicious.
