Chapter 31: Marriage?

“…Oh.”

~Can see it now.~

After finishing our journey, we returned to the kingdom. As we approached the capital, we saw a few dragons flying through the sky leisurely, but they seemed to sense Runa’s presence and quietly made way for us. This sight was nostalgic.

~Am I really that scary? I’m a little curious.~

“Well, you’re like a boss that subordinates are afraid of.”

It seemed that Runa was more feared by her subordinates than she had thought. 

It wasn’t as if she intentionally scared the dragons, but her anger was impactful and that was probably why they were afraid of her. It wasn’t that they hated her, but they were simply afraid of her like children who are scared of their mothers.

“Let’s just head straight to the courtyard.”

Runa had already used magic to inform Lichter of our return and had requested that he clear the courtyard of people. There was a response that no one was to approach us, so our return wouldn’t be a topic of conversation.

“Oh, they’re already waiting for us.”

There were two figures, Lichter-sama and Marianna-sama. Marianna-sama waved her hands flutteringly, and Lichter was also smiling, so they might have been looking forward to our return. After Runa landed slowly, I got off her back and greeted them.

“We’re back.”

“Yes, welcome back.”

“Welcome home.”

Welcome home… huh.

It was a strange feeling, almost as if we were being welcomed back by our parents, but it wasn’t a bad feeling. I laughed.

Well, we hadn’t gone through any formal procedures to become husband and wife, but I guess it wasn’t necessary since we were a human and a dragon. 

Lichter-sama was taken aback, while Marianna-sama’s eyes sparkled. 

As I watched the contrasting reactions of the two, the scenery changed.

It seems that we have been transported to the world of dragons by magic, and we were all in that temple area. Runa hugged me with her dragon body, but then her body shone and she maintained a human form. When the light subsided, a beautiful woman embracing my arm stood next to me.

“You are the only ones besides Xeno to see me in this form. Even though you are royalty, you may not tell it to your sons and daughters.”

Lichter-sama was even more astonished than before, and Marianna-sama clapped her hands with great excitement.

“Is this really happening…?”

“This is a miracle… Luna-sama, was this what you meant!?”

It seems like this is being accepted more normally than I thought. 

After that, Runa made sure that the two of them promised to keep it a secret that Runa can transform into a human, and they nodded in agreement as a pledge of the royal family.

“By the way, on our journey, Xeno and I shared our love for each other. We loved each other like we were enveloped in a beautiful layer of mystical air, in a mysterious lake.”

“Of course. Come here, Marianna.”

Separating from the two women, I began conversing with Lichter-sama.

“The queen loves love stories like that. She must be very curious about the love between Dragon Luna-dono and human Xeno.”

“But it was surprising… I thought my jaw would come off.”

It’s understandable to be surprised, so I chuckled. 

As I watched Runa and Marianna-sama talking, Lichter-sama mentioned something that wasn’t alarming but still caught my attention.

“We can’t make it a big event, but we definitely want to have a ceremony. We want to see Xeno, the dragon handler, and Luna-dono together.”

“Shall we suggest it to Luna-dono… Okay, let’s do it.”

Lichter-sama approached Runa and said something, and Runa immediately smiled and nodded in response. Marianna-sama rolled up her sleeves as if to say that it was a wonderful idea, and I started to panic a little.

“We are going to have a ceremony.”

“I thought so.”

“It seems they will also pick out a dress for me. Hehe, I’m so excited!”

So it was decided that Runa and I would have a wedding ceremony. As Runa was a dragon, we couldn’t make her secret public, and we couldn’t make our wedding too grand either.
