Chapter 30: End of the Journey

After leaving the imperial capital, we headed back towards the sea for a little bit. With Runa’s incredible speed, we could easily return to any place we had previously been to in an instant. 

However, we decided to head towards a port town that was a little further away from where we had first landed.

“Wow… there are so many ships here.”

“Well, it is a port town. I wonder if they mainly use seafood for their cuisine?”

This port town was so peaceful compared to the chaos we experienced in the imperial capital. 

However, if a little more time passed, the chaos from the capital would likely spread here as well. Our purpose for coming here was to do some sightseeing and secure dinner.

“There were some people who approached us when we were at sea. They might have their base here as well.”

“I wouldn’t be surprised. There are other towns, but they’re quite far away.”

Even if we were to encounter them again, it would only be me who would be nitpicked. Runa still attracted attention wherever we went, but we didn’t encounter anyone as rude as the young nobleman we met before.

“…sigh”

“What’s wrong?”

“Well…I just realized that we’ll be going back tomorrow.”

Runa sounded genuinely disappointed. 

It was only our second day out, but we had experienced so much already that it felt like a lot had happened.

“Because our time is limited, we have to rush to see as much as we can. If we had more time, I would love to take leisurely walks and even stay suspended in the sky with Xeno forever.”

“Really?”

“Absolutely. Without a care in the world… if only I could take the form of a human forever and travel with Xeno like this.”

It was an honor to hear such words from the Dragon Queen. When Runa spoke like this, she didn’t seem like a woman in a higher position than me, but rather an adorable woman who I simply found cute.

“Well, maybe that future will come someday. We have become irreplaceable to each other. We have plenty of time, so let’s look forward to that.”

“… Fufu, you’re right.”

After that, we enjoyed sightseeing until it got dark and looked for a restaurant to have dinner after the sun had set. 

After we had done everything we could do in this port town, Runa and I left the city. Like yesterday, Runa chose an inconspicuous place that nobody would notice, and she used magic to completely isolate us from the world.

“You know, it’s because we understand each other’s feelings that we can be this close to each other like this.”

“…Is that so? But… Why do I feel like I want you so much at night?”

It’s true that when Runa wants it, my body craves her intensely. 

During the day, there’s nothing in particular, but as soon as it’s time to sleep after the sun sets, my body suddenly starts to desire Runa. 

Runa was also aware of this, so she took off her clothes and was completely naked, and she looked so hot anyway that I couldn’t take my eyes off her.

“…Ah, I see. It might be the side effect of my bodily fluids gradually becoming familiar with your body. It might be stimulating the instinct to leave offspring.”

“I see.”

“But I think you’ll get used to it soon enough. Until then, we’ll have to do it a lot, though.”

“…”

“Well, don’t worry. The chances of us having a child are low even if we do it a lot.”

Hearing that didn’t make me feel relieved, but I made love to Runa like yesterday. 

And after it was all over, I snuggled up with her in her dragon form.

~I thought this yesterday too, but the act of being together like this is happiness.~

“…Yeah. Even though it’s a simple thing to do, it fills my heart so much.”

~I can’t believe I didn’t know about this for hundreds of years… Well, even if I had imagined it, I’d feel disgusted if it wasn’t with you, Xeno.~

“I see.”

But… Can children be born between a human and a dragon? 

Runa said the chances were infinitesimally low, but it was only because there was no precedent.

“By the way, I was pretty surprised earlier.”

~Fufu, well, those playful parts are also good, aren’t they?~

Actually, Runa reached the limit of her transformation while we were in the middle of an intimate act, causing her to turn back into her dragon form. 

So for a few minutes, I had been doing it with Runa in her dragon form, but the sensation wasn’t much different from holding her as a human. In fact, seeing her in her usual form made me feel relieved, perhaps because having her essence within me made me feel a little detached from humanity.

“Hey Runa, we’re leaving tomorrow… but let’s travel together again for sure.”

~Of course. I’ll make Lichter agree even if I have to force him.~

“Try not to cause him too much trouble, okay?”

~I’ll try to restrain myself to some extent.~

I wondered if it would be alright. 

As the night grew late, we continued talking and eventually fell asleep without realizing it. And so, the journey of us came to an end, but it goes without saying that it became the best memory for both of us.

When we return, Lichter-sama and Marianna-sama will probably ask us persistently about what we did and what kind of journey we had… but let’s just reminisce about our memories together with Runa.
