Chapter 25 – The Son Participates in an Investigation of Distant Ruins 【Part 1】
A few minutes after she created the holy site.
“La la la~ Today’s dinner is curry rice~♪”
Karma Abyss was cooking in the kitchen.
Well, not normal cooking like chopping ingredients.
“Yoink.”
Snap.
When she snapped her fingers, a pot appeared.
It was already filled to the brim with curry roux.
“Yoink, and… there!”
Every time she snapped, luxurious dishes appeared on the table.
This was the effect of her skill All-Creation.
After defeating the evil god, Karma Abyss had gained several special skills.
This was one of them—the ultra-powerful All-Creation skill that could create anything from nothing.
It was a skill that could easily build a fortune if misused, but Karma Abyss never did anything like that.
“I wonder when my son will get home~”
The skill was used almost exclusively to make meals for her hungry son.
Just as she finished preparing the food and nodded in satisfaction…
Click.
“Welcome home, Ryu-kun!” “Haaai, Karma.” “……………”
The person who entered through the door was a beautiful elf.
A tall, busty elf with slightly droopy eyes.
“Oh, it’s you, Chekiita. You can leave now.”
“How mean~ Big sis is sad.”
“Tch. You’re an old hag. Stop trying to act young by calling yourself ‘big sis.’”
This elf was the Observer—the person tasked by the King to monitor Evil Dragon Karma Abyss.
She had been watching Karma Abyss for over a hundred years, ever since she devoured the evil god.
So yeah, she was pretty old.
Of course, elves were long-lived, so even after a century she still looked beautiful.
“Come on, come on. Oh, that smells nice. Curry today? Can big sis join you for dinner?”
“Well… I guess it’s fine. I made plenty.”
Besides, even if she said no, the elf would just sit down anyway, and when the kids got home it would be impossible to kick her out. Her ultra-kind son would probably invite Chekiita to eat with them.
“Thanks. By the way, Karma.”
Chekiita sat at the table and looked at her.
“You didn’t follow Ryu and the others on their adventure today.”
Ryu was her son Ryuuji.
Before, no matter where he went, she would try to tag along.
But today she had seen them off and stayed home.
…Well, she had gone to make the holy site and was monitoring them from the Sky Castle the whole time anyway.
“Heh.”
Karma Abyss gave a confident smile.
“Chekiita, what era are you talking about?”
She stepped in front of the Observer.
“I’ve leveled up. Look at this.”
She showed off the necklace at her chest.
A simple silver chain with a diamond brooch attached.
“Oh, it’s beautiful.”
“Right~?!?!”
Her face lit up like the sun.
“Ehehe, my son gave it to me~ A present~ Ehehe~”
The elf smiled quietly at the childlike grin on Karma Abyss’s face.
“Ah…!” Karma Abyss snapped back to her senses and cleared her throat.
“Anyway. After receiving this present from my son, I finally understood.”
“Understood what?”
“What it truly means to be a mother…”
With a distant look in her eyes, Karma Abyss gazed beyond the door.
“A mother… stays at home like this, waiting every day for her son to come back. She prepares a meal for her hungry children and waits. That’s all it takes.”
The elf stared blankly, but Karma Abyss ignored her and continued.
“Unnecessary interference isn’t needed. My son has his own life. A mother supports him at the beginning, but once he grows up, she just watches over him… that’s it.”
Karma Abyss was drunk on her own realization.
She had finally reached the true concept of motherhood.
“Hmm, I see.”
However, the Observer’s reaction was extremely lukewarm.
That annoyed her. Why wasn’t this woman showering her with praise for reaching such a magnificent state?
“What?”
“Oh, nothing. But yeah. What you’re saying is correct. You’ve taken one step closer to being a real mother.”
Paaaaam…! A radiant expression bloomed on Karma Abyss’s face.
“I-I’m not happy at all just because you said that!”
“You’re grinning so hard right now. This is hilarious~”
And then it happened.
“Mom! I’m home!”
“Karma-san, I’m starving!”
The kids had returned from their adventure.
Karma Abyss put on her motherly smile (the gentle one Chekiita had shown earlier) and welcomed them.
“Hey, hey, Mom! Listen!”
“Yes, yes, what is it?”
She asked the smiling Ryuuji.
“We’re going to leave this place and go really far away!”
……
…………
“…………Huh!?”
