Karma had been at home, faithfully waiting for Ryuuji’s return.

In the evening, her son returned from exploring the dungeon.

Her son’s clothes… were tattered.

“I’m home, Mom!”

“We’re home!”

Her son and his friend greeted her cheerfully.

“Oh, Ryu. Welcome back. You’re quite a mess, aren’t you.”

The elf peeked out from behind the petrified Karma.

“Ah!”

Ryuuji’s expression brightened when he saw the elf.

“Chequita-san! Good evening!”

Ryuuji greeted the elf… Chequita.

“Heyyy, Ryu. So what happened to your clothes?”

When Chequita asked, Ryuuji answered with a wry smile.

“Well, today the two of us were delving into a dungeon. And we just so happened to find the boss room.”

“Oh, my. You found the dungeon boss’s room.”

Dungeons have a master, a boss monster.

Their rooms are hidden and difficult to find.

“So, Sheila-san and I decided to give it a shot.”

“My, my. That was a bit reckless, wasn’t it.”

Dungeon bosses are strong.

For two adventurers whose levels were still in the double digits, it was not an opponent they could currently hope to match.

“But, but, but, you never know until you try!”

As Sheila said this, Ryuuji nodded.

“But it was a total bust. We ran for it before we could get hurt.”

Ryuuji finished explaining what had happened.

He glanced over at Karma.

“I got pretty dirty all over, but I’m okay. And injuries… well, I just got a scrape from falling down, so I’m fine!”

As Ryuuji said this with a smile, Karma…

“Wh-”

“Wh-?”

“What the hell do you think you’re doiiiiiing?!?!”

Karma screamed, then shouted, “Transform!” and changed from her human form to that of the Evil Dragon.

“M-Mom?!”

“How dare you torment my son! I’ll slaughter you!!!”

Karma roared, then activated her skill, [Hyper-Teleportation].

Using the skill that let her instantly fly to any place she wished, Karma headed for the dungeon.

In an instant, Karma teleported to the boss room.

“Gigigigi…?”

What was there was a giant beetle.

A boss monster encased in a diamond shell, its name was the [Diamond-Shelled Beetle].

With a subjugation difficulty of C-Rank, it was an opponent that Ryuuji and his party had absolutely no chance against.

The monster’s defining feature was the diamond shell covering its entire body.

Protected by this hard armor, no damage could reach its actual body.

“So you’re the arch-criminal who dared to mar my son…”

Karma’s rage had surpassed its limit.

“You who have harmed my ultra, ultra, ultra-precious treasure deserve ten thousand deaths! Death sentence! Guilty!”

Karma activated a spell.

The supreme-tier fire attribute magic, [Purgatorial Hellfire: Burst Stream].

In an instant, the room was completely buried in the flames of purgatory.

The heat was overwhelming.

Even the ground melted into a gooey sludge.

It turned every living and non-living thing in that place to cinders.

Naturally, the beetle didn’t stand a chance.

Even after it had been turned to ash in a flash, Karma’s rage did not subside.

“Aaaaaaaah! What a foolish thing I’ve done!! Because I didn’t go with him! Ryu-kun! My lovely, ultra-angel Ryu-kun! He was hurt! He got huuuuurt!!!!”

Goaaaaaaah!!! Karma roared, breathing fire.

You’re the boss now… is what any adventurer who saw this would have thought.

“Aaaaaaaah! I messed up, I messed uuuuup! If only I hadn’t taken my eyes off him! Ryu-kun wouldn’t have had to go through such a painful experience! I’m such an iiiiiidiot!!”

Eventually, after the boss room was turned into a sea of flames and the fire, having nothing left to burn, extinguished itself…

Karma immediately used teleport to return home.

“Ah, Mom. Welcome back.”

Ryuuji, looking clean, must have just gotten out of the bath. He greeted Karma.

“Ryuuuuuuuuuuuuu-kun!!!”

Karma dove at Ryuuji, and hugged him tight.

“Aaaaaah, Ryu-kun, Ryu-kun! I’m so sooooooorry!!!”

Karma, still hugging him, said,

“I’ll cast healing magic on you right now!”

And with that, she began casting numerous healing spells.

“[Resurrection: Raise Dead]! [Master Aid]! [Master Status Recovery]! [Mass Master Heal]! [Goddess’s Blessing]! [Healing God’s Blessing]!”

Ryuuji was bombarded by one super-class light magic spell after another.

However, since Ryuuji had no injuries to begin with, they all just fizzled out.

“M-Mom. I told you I’m fine.”

“Aaaaaaaah, no, no, this isn’t enough to heal Ryu-kun’s terrible injuries!”

Ugaaah! Karma said, her eyes spinning in a panic.

“In-Injuries? I’m not injured at all, though?”

To her bewildered son, the mother denied it with a “No!”

“You’ve been gravely injured in your heart! This is my mistake! All because I wasn’t with you… I’ve failed as a mother-aaaaaah!!!”

Waaaaaaaaaaaaah! Karma wailed like a child.

There was no trace of the composure she’d had just moments ago.

“Ryu-kun! I’ve made up my mind!”

Karma, having cried her eyes out, spoke with determination.

“It’s just too dangerous. Starting tomorrow, I will properly accompany you on your adventures!”

…And so it was that the Evil Dragon, Karma Abyss…

Despite having seemingly grown, all it took was for her son to get a tiny little injury, and she reverted right back to her original overprotective self.

Hearing this, her son screamed.

“Mom, don’t come with me on my adventures!!!”
