I became the boyfriend of the school's madonna, who had turned down numerous confessions, but somehow, without realizing it, I wasn't just playing a role anymore - Chapter 77
Episode 77: I Still Don’t Want to Leave
“……♪”
Misaki seemed very pleased, probably because this was her first time, and she remained in high spirits even after boarding the train.
She clung to my arm, resting her head on my shoulder, and kept humming to herself.
Since she had a beautiful voice, her humming was pleasant to listen to, so I let her continue as she pleased.
However―
“We’ve arrived…”
It was only two stops away, so the train ride was quick.
“Wasn’t it about a ten-minute walk from the station?”
As we exited the ticket gate, I confirmed with Misaki. She had mentioned this before.
“Yeah, that’s right…”
While answering, Misaki started gently rubbing my finger with hers. She had been quite affectionate today, so maybe she didn’t want to part yet.
“Well, it’s summer vacation, so there’s no rush to go back…”
If we stay out too late, we’ll probably be criticized.
“Misaki, your parents will worry if you’re out too late, right?”
Given that she’s a girl, her parents would already be concerned, and Misaki is very cute, which would make them even more anxious.
“Ah, well…I told them I’m going to my big sister’s place, so it’s okay…”
Misaki looked away from me awkwardly. I see…
“You lied again, didn’t you…”
She’s really gotten used to lying to get out of situations. Although, I’m sure she’ll improve from now on.
“I-I can’t help it! I can’t just say I’m going to a boy’s house…! Especially not almost every day…!”
I understand what she’s getting at. Most parents would be worried.
“You told Sasagawa-sensei that we’re dating, but not your parents?”
“It’s not something I’d go out of my way to say… And we weren’t exactly officially dating then…”
I wonder why she told Sasagawa-sensei, but knowing Misaki, she probably slipped up and got caught. That person seems pretty perceptive.
“I get where you’re coming from, so I won’t push it, but going to your big sister’s place every day might raise suspicion, don’t you think?”
Even if she and Sasagawa-sensei are in it together, it might seem strange.
However―
“It’s fine because I often go to my big sister’s place to help her clean. If I don’t keep up with it, it’ll be a lot of work later.”
“……”
Come to think of it, she mentioned being a bit of a slob at home… I still can’t picture Sasagawa-sensei as a slob though.
“The apartment my big sister lives in is also about a ten-minute walk from here, though it’s in a different direction from my house.”
“In that case, wouldn’t it be better to go back to your parent’s home…?”
It seems like a waste of money…
“…She doesn’t want to leave that house because it holds memories of her husband…”
Misaki explained with a troubled smile. Sasagawa-sensei still wears her wedding ring, so she probably can’t forget about her husband.
“I suppose… that makes sense.”
Not knowing what to say, I gave a vague response.
“―Ah”
Thinking that the atmosphere had become awkward, Misaki suddenly seemed to realize something and made a small sound.
“What’s up?”
“……”
When I asked, Misaki started glancing at my face. This is how she acts when she wants to ask for something.
“You can say whatever it is. After all… I’m your boyfriend.”
“~~~~~!”
Though I’m not used to this, I smiled at her the way I do with Kokoa, and Misaki let out a silent squeal, squirming in place.
Despite being quite popular, she’s surprisingly weak to this sort of thing…
“Are you alright?”
“That was unfair…”
When I checked on her, she looked up at me with a flushed face and a resentful expression. I didn’t intend to make her blush though…
“Like I said before, I’m not good at understanding girls’ feelings, so it helps me if you just tell me directly. So, don’t hesitate to say what you want.”
That’s what I wanted to convey, so I said it clearly.
“Will you get mad…?”
Misaki squeezed my hand and looked up at me anxiously. What could she possibly do to make me angry now?
“I can’t say without hearing it.”
“Ugh… You always respond like that, don’t you, Raito-kun…”
She seemed to know what my answer would be and looked around, troubled.
“So, um…?”
Gathering her resolve, she looked at me again, as if gauging my reaction. Her eyes had a certain heat in them, probably lingering from earlier.
“My big sister is out with friends for an overnight stay, so she won’t be home tonight…”
“……”
“I… still don’t want to leave Raito-kun yet… hm…?”
Misaki said, resting her head on my shoulder again, in a voice full of affection.
