“―Are you really going to walk me home…?”

After having dinner at my place, Misaki looked up at me apologetically as we stepped outside.

“I can’t let you walk home alone at night.”

Misaki was such a beautiful girl that the entire school acknowledged it. There could be stalkers, or she might be attacked by strangers. After it’s dark like this, it would be best to send her home properly.

“It’s fine, Misaki, let Raito walk you home,” ‘

Mother said, coming out while holding the sleeping Kokoa. Since I had been talking alone with Misaki earlier, she probably knew that we had really started dating.

“But I don’t want to trouble Raito-kun…”

“If I drove you, it would be quicker, but Raito wants to take you to the train station, meaning he wants to spend more time together.”

Mother smiled and said something unnecessary to the apologetic Misaki. She didn’t have to say it out loud.

“Is that so…?”

Misaki looked up at me with hopeful eyes this time. It’s embarrassing to have this kind of exchange in front of my mother…

“We just started dating, isn’t it obvious?”

Not wanting my mother to overhear, I leaned in close to Misaki’s ear and whispered softly.

“Eep!?”

Startled by the tickling sensation in her ear, Misaki let out a strange noise and trembled. Please stop reacting like that; it could give mom the wrong idea.

“Come on, she has a train to catch, so you’d better send her home quickly.”

Feeling like my heart was gripped by Misaki’s reaction, my mother spoke to us in an exasperated tone. Since the train only comes once every thirty minutes, she prioritized making sure we didn’t miss it.

“Got it, we’re leaving now,”

I responded to my mother and then looked back at Misaki.

“Let’s go.”

“Oh…”

I gently intertwined my fingers with hers, and Misaki let out a happy sound. She looked up at me sweetly, but then suddenly seemed to remember my mother’s presence, turned back to her, and bowed.

“Thank you for everything today…!”

“It’s nothing, really. It worked out because Misaki-chan is such a sincere girl,”

When Misaki bowed her head, mother replied with a gentle smile. It seemed she was already aware of our new relationship.

I didn’t know what exactly mother had said to Misaki back then, but if Misaki hadn’t been honest, she wouldn’t have reconsidered her relationship with me. Thanks to her sincerity, we are together now.

“Thank you very much…! Well then, if you’ll excuse us…!”

“Come visit anytime, Misaki-chan. Raito, don’t become a predatory boyfriend~”

“”―!?””

Misaki and I both gasped in shock at my mother’s outrageous comment.

“I would never…!”

“Ahaha.”

I quickly retorted, and my mother laughed joyfully. She knew I wouldn’t do such a thing but still enjoyed teasing us.

“Ohh, predatory boyfriend…”

Misaki looked up at me with a flushed face, perhaps wondering if I might actually become one. Was it my imagination, or did she look somewhat expectant…?

“Come on, if we don’t hurry, we ‘ll miss the train.”
I said, feeling uneasy about her reaction and knowing we could miss the train. I gently pulled her hand and headed towards the station.
