I became the boyfriend of the school's madonna, who had turned down numerous confessions, but somehow, without realizing it, I wasn't just playing a role anymore - Chapter 48
Episode 48: She’s in a Good Mood
“Are you angry…?”
As my mother stepped away to prepare tea and snacks, Misaki asked me with upturned eyes.
Currently, she and I were sitting at the table as instructed by my mother, while Kokoa seemed comfortably asleep on the sofa.
“It depends on the reason for your visit.”
If she had come for some important reason, then naturally, there would be no anger.
“I… forgot that I wasn’t supposed to come and just came to hang out…”
Misaki averted her eyes from me, looking awkward.
There wasn’t any important reason, she simply messed up.
She still had that air of innocence, or whatever you call it…
Since she brought a large bag, I assume she brought homework too, intending not only to hang out but also to do homework together…
“Thanks to that, Mom ended up thinking you’re my girlfriend…”
“Ugh…!”
Given the circumstances, I made a sarcastic remark, causing Misaki to clutch her chest in pain. It seemed to hit harder than I thought.
“I’m sorry…”
“Well, whatever. It’s in the past now; can’t change it.”
There’s no point in saying anything now, my mother’s misunderstanding won’t be resolved by words.
Plus, I understand that Misaki didn’t mean any harm. She didn’t do it on purpose, so I couldn’t bring myself to blame her.
Most likely, she forgot about it due to the ordeal she went through at the beach yesterday.
“Aren’t you mad…?”
“Well, technically, you being my girlfriend is kind of a fact. Plus, there was a possibility it would leak from Kokoa herself… Or rather, considering the way the neighborhood aunties knew about it, it might have been a good opportunity.”
It’s just hindsight but considering that my mother already knew to some extent, it was bound to happen sooner or later.
If my mother had lost patience, she would have told me to bring her over… and even if I denied it then, she wouldn’t believe me.
Once the neighborhood aunties found out, it was game over.
“Thank you…”
Misaki, for some reason, thanked me while directing her feverish gaze at me.
And under the table, she reached out to hold my hand, pretending to be lovers because my mother was around?
It’s bad for my heart to have this happen suddenly…
She casually held my hand and played around with it.
When she came into the house, she seemed nervous and down, but it seems her mood has improved.
From now on, she’ll likely face a barrage of questions from my mother, but she seems ready to handle it now.
