I became the boyfriend of the school's madonna, who had turned down numerous confessions, but somehow, without realizing it, I wasn't just playing a role anymore - Chapter 125
Episode 125: Kind Father?
“What’s Misaki’s father like?”
As we walked towards her house, I asked out of curiosity.
“Hm?”
Misaki placed her index finger on her lips, gazing up at the sky, deep in thought.
“To us, he’s a very kind and serious father, right?”
—she responded with something meaningful.
“To ‘us’, huh… I see…”
“Oh, he’s also very kind to Hyouka, too!”
Misaki quickly added, noticing my reaction to her words.
“You know what I’m getting at, don’t you?”
“W-What is it?”
“I mean, isn’t your dad pretty strict when it comes to guys like me?”
“……”
As soon as I put her vague response into words, she averted her gaze in an obvious attempt to dodge the topic.
Well, I had already suspected as much based on what she’d mentioned before.
“Kokoa… get scolded?”
“Oh, no, no, he wouldn’t get mad at you, Kokoa!”
When Kokoa looked up at Misaki with teary eyes, Misaki quickly corrected herself.
It seems she hadn’t expected Kokoa to react this way, considering we were talking about men.
Still…
“Now that I think about it, I don’t mind if he says anything to me, but if he scolds Kokoa for no reason or hurts her, I might snap…”
I had braced myself to endure whatever Misaki’s father might say to me, but I couldn’t imagine staying calm if Kokoa, who’s more precious to me than life itself, were to be hurt.
In fact, I wouldn’t even want to try.
“It’s fine…! Everything will be fine, so please, don’t leave me…!”
I’m not sure how she interpreted my words, but once again, Misaki said something that led to a misunderstanding.
As a result, some passing elderly ladies started whispering while glancing at us.
I better be careful—this could turn into a rumor at school.
“No, Misaki, really, everything’s fine. Even if I don’t get along with your dad, that’s not your fault, and I’ll keep that separate from my feelings for you.”
Though, I might have to figure out how to deal with him eventually.
I don’t want anyone suspicious near Kokoa, after all.
“Niini, sounds tough…”
Kokoa, who usually sides with Misaki, sensed that I might be in a difficult situation and, for once, seemed worried about me.
Yes, your big brother is having a hard time.
With that thought, I turned my gaze back to Misaki.
“Well, as long as nothing happens to Kokoa, it’ll be fine.”
“Yeah… no matter how strict my dad is, I don’t think he’d say anything harsh to a little kid, even if she’s my boyfriend’s sister…”
“Yeah, I trust you.”
Considering Misaki’s father is also the one who raised Sasagawa-sensei, he should be a good person at heart.
He’s probably only opposing this relationship because he’s concerned for his daughter.
If we talk things through, I’m sure he’ll understand.
Or so I naively thought—
“Leave.”
—and then Misaki’s father gave me the cold shoulder at the front gate.
He wouldn’t even come out of the house, clearly not wanting to see me at all.

Thank you for always reading!
By the way, I’ve just launched a new series:
“I Was Sent Undercover to a Noble Girls’ Academy, and Somehow Ended Up Loved by Princesses”
It’s a romantic comedy where real princesses, like a cat-girl beastman princess and an elf princess, pamper the protagonist!
