I became the boyfriend of the school's madonna, who had turned down numerous confessions, but somehow, without realizing it, I wasn't just playing a role anymore - Chapter 124
Episode 124: The Early Bird Catches the Worm
The next morning…
“Niini, going out?”
As I finished getting ready to leave, Kokoa asked excitedly, her eyes sparkling.
She probably thought we were going somewhere fun.
Well, in a way, we were.
“Yes, we’re going to Misaki’s house. Misaki’s parents will be there, so you’ll need to be on your best behavior, okay?”
“Going to Neene’s house? Will sensei be there?”
Kokoa completely ignored my warning and instead asked if Sasagawa-sensei would be there.
She’s still completely obsessed with her.
…I get it, though.
“I don’t think so.”
I had asked Misaki to let them know I was coming to greet her parents, but I highly doubted she’d invite her sister, whom she clearly sees as a rival.
Personally, I’d prefer having more allies on my side…
It would feel bad to impose on Sasagawa-sensei on her day off again, so this is probably for the best.
“Mmmph…!”
Disappointed, Kokoa puffed out her cheeks and pressed her face against my chest.
She sees Sasagawa-sensei at daycare on weekdays, but it seems she wants to see her even on weekends.
“We can ask her to play with you another time, okay?”
I comforted my sulking little sister and left the house.
After a ride on the train, we arrived at our destination station.
“G-Good morning, Raito-kun!”
There to greet me was my adorable girlfriend, blushing red and fidgeting nervously.
“Good morning, Misaki.”
“Good morning, Neene!”
As I returned her greeting, Kokoa, who had somehow gotten over her earlier disappointment, raised her hand energetically.
Misaki smiled warmly at her.
“Good morning, Kokoa-chan. You’re full of energy as always.”
“Mhm! Kokoa is always full of energy!”
Kokoa responded cheerfully, and Misaki returned the smile with the kind, motherly look she often had.
Then, she turned her gaze back to me.
“Are you really going to meet my parents?”
Misaki asked timidly, glancing up at me.
Her fidgeting since earlier was likely due to the fact that I had told her last night that I’d be greeting her parents.
But I hadn’t given her all the details.
Misaki, being a bit of an airhead, tends to blurt out more than necessary when she’s flustered.
“If they officially accept us, maybe we’ll be able to stay over at each other’s houses, right?”
“Y-Yeah…! That would definitely be better…!”
Honestly, Misaki hadn’t been keen on the idea when I first mentioned it last night.
In fact, she was really against it.
As Suzumine-san had pointed out, her dad is apparently quite against the idea of his daughter dating because of what happened with Misora-san.
Misaki was afraid that her dad might try to force us apart.
From her perspective, she has no intention of breaking up with me.
But the idea that I might dump her because of her dad’s interference had her terrified.
I assured her that I wouldn’t break up with her, no matter what her dad did or said, but she seemed too scared to believe me.
The one thing that finally got her on board was the possibility that, if we got her parents’ approval, she might be able to stay over at my house.
I felt a bit guilty, as if I was bribing her with that, but there wasn’t enough time to wait for her to make up her mind on her own, so I didn’t have the luxury of being picky about my methods.
“If your parents agree, we can stay over, right?”
“Yeah, of course.”
I swallowed the words, “if they agree.”
Honestly, even if our relationship became parent-approved, it would still be difficult for a high school boy and girl to stay over at each other’s houses.
My mom would probably be fine with it, but it would depend on Misaki’s parents…
Anyway, I had a more immediate and pressing problem to deal with, so I couldn’t dwell on that for now.
While I was deep in thought—
“Hehe… staying over every day…♪”
—Misaki, walking beside me, was clearly lost in her own overly excited thoughts, completely unaware of my concerns.
“……”
No, there’s no way that’ll happen every day…
I wanted to say something, but if I upset her now, we’d be late for our scheduled meeting, so I swallowed my words instead.
