Chapter 17: It’s a Parade, Little Sister
And so… the long-awaited day finally arrived.
It was the wedding day of the first king of the Arlengs Kingdom.
Fortunately, the weather was perfect, and a shower of flower petals floated through the main street of the royal capital, carried by wind magic.
“Long live His Majesty the King!”
“Glory to the Arlengs Kingdom!”
In the warm sunlight, the cheerful voices of the people echoed.
The main street was lined with countless citizens, cheering and celebrating the young man’s new beginning as he married three women.
Ahead, where people waved their hands, was a carriage drawn by two white horses, carrying four people.
“Thank you… thank you, everyone…”
One of them was a man dressed in a white tuxedo with a red cloak.
Van Arlengs… the new king of this country. He had overthrown a tyrant and seized the throne in less than a month, a young hero.
Van seemed nervous, his expression stiff as he waved back at the crowd.
And the remaining three were all beautiful women, all of whom were Van’s brides, destined to become the new queens of Arlengs Kingdom.
“Thank you, thank you…”
The first was Medina Aidron.
A beautiful woman with blonde hair flowing and a stylish white dress.
She was the princess of the Aidron Kingdom, which Van had destroyed, and became his first queen, despite being his former enemy.
At one time, Medina had resented Van, but now she had accepted becoming his wife.
Even so, there seemed to be parts she still couldn’t accept. Her face was complex as she waved to the crowd, and her smile was a bit awkward.
“Thank you, everyone.”
The second was Lyusha Ulbers, daughter of the Marquis of the eastern frontier.
A healthy beauty with silver hair in a ponytail.
She was the treasured daughter of the Ulbers family, the powerhouse of the east, and was given the position of Van’s second queen.
Lyusha was not only a noble lady but also a master of martial arts. Even in her white wedding dress, she carried a slender sword at her waist.
“Thank you. Everyone, please take care of my brother for a long time.”
And the third was Moa Arlengs.
A beautiful girl with long black hair, Van’s stepsister, not related by blood.
Due to her commoner status, she was content as the third queen, but she was the mastermind behind the recent coup and a trusted advisor to Van.
Standing beside her beloved brother, Moa’s cheeks were rosy, and she had a smile that seemed to capture all the happiness in the world.
“Long live King Van! Long live the Kingdom of Arlengs!”
“Moa, you look beautiful!”
“Lady Lyusha!”
The people warmly and familiarly called out to them.
The royal family of the former Aidron Kingdom had once oppressed the people as tyrants.
Van and his companions, who had overthrown those tyrants and become the new royalty, were approachable and strongly supported by the people.
While not as popular as the others, Lyusha, the granddaughter of the hero of the east, was also loved by the people.
“…”
Next to the three being praised, Medina’s expression was slightly strained.
Medina was the daughter of the tyrant and the last surviving member of the wicked Aidron royal family.
Though she had never oppressed the people herself, she carried the heavy burden of her family’s sins.
“Long live Princess Medina! Long live the first queen!”
“Ah…”
Among the crowd, a woman raised her voice loudly.
It was Anne, a maid who served Medina.
“Long live, long live… Princess, may you be happy!”
“Anne…”
Tears streamed down Anne’s face as she shouted with all her might.
Seeing this, Medina felt tears welling up in her own eyes.
“Long live! Long live!”
“Glory to King Van! Prosperity to the Kingdom of Arlengs!”
As the people blessed them, the carriage carrying the four newlyweds moved forward.
It was a parade announcing the beginning of a new kingdom.
A scene that seemed to paint a picture of happiness, symbolizing the future of the new nation.
“Thank you, everyone… thank you!”
Amidst this, Van reached into his coat and threw something.
It flew so fast that no one in the crowd noticed it, piercing into the roof of a building facing the main street.
“Gah…”
No, it wasn’t the roof it pierced. It was someone on the roof.
Someone who had been about to shoot an arrow was struck in the chest by Van’s thrown dagger.
“Brother…”
“It’s okay. Just a pest.”
Van replied to Moa, who asked quietly, without changing his expression.
That parade truly symbolized the future of the Arlengs Kingdom.
Bright, lively, warm, and full of smiles.
And yet… slightly tinged with the scent of danger and the color of blood.
It was as if it foretold the history that the Arlengs Kingdom would walk from then on.
