Chapter 09: As Expected, The Princess Hates Me
“M-Moa, what should I do? I did something terrible to the princess…”
The day after he proposed to Medina,
Van was crying to his sister as usual.
“It was because I was drunk. I attacked the princess, even though we’re not married, without even a wedding ceremony!”
“Oh dear, that sounds serious.”
Hugging her brother, Moa smiled blissfully.
(It seems everything went as planned. As expected of my brother, not just any man could dominate a princess of a nation like that.)
This development, too, was all within Moa’s control.
Van had always had a bad habit with alcohol.
It was a little-known fact, but when he drank, he became wildly aggressive and violent.
(My brother is a warrior of rare historical caliber, almost godlike in battle. He’s usually gentle, so this side of him is hidden, but it comes out when he drinks.)
Van was kind and timid by nature.
Without a reason, he would never hurt anyone.
Even if there was a reason, harming others would only hurt himself.
Thus, the suppressed warrior instinct within him only surfaced when he was drunk.
“It’s okay, Brother. It was something that needed to be done.”
“Needed to be done?”
“While Princess Medina wasn’t corrupt like other royals, she was at fault for ignoring their actions. In fact, some argue that she too should be held accountable.”
“But… there was nothing the princess could do about the king’s tyranny, right?”
“That’s true. That’s why we didn’t execute her or put her in jail. But don’t you think some form of atonement is necessary?”
Medina was an upstanding individual, trying to reform a corrupt kingdom.
Still, she was part of the royal family that lived off the people’s taxes.
“Being embraced by you, the enemy of her family, and bearing a child would be a fitting punishment for the princess. By imposing this punishment, you transform her from a member of the Aidron royal family back into just a woman. So, please continue to hold her with peace of mind.”
“…”
“However, it’s not good for you, the one imposing the punishment, to be hurt by this. If it’s too hard for you to discipline the princess, perhaps we could ask another man…”
“Don’t!”
Van cut off his sister’s words firmly.
“That’s not an option. I won’t hand the princess over to another man.”
“…”
Moa’s smile deepened at his resolute, even arrogant words.
(Yes, that’s right. That’s how it should be.)
Van is a kind person, but he lacks the “greed” to be a king.
He should desire more. He should be more arrogant.
The never-satisfied thirst is a trait of a true conqueror.
“Yes, then let’s do it that way. Now that you’ve made up your mind, you must continue to punish the princess. When you visit the princess at night, make sure to drink beforehand.”
“Um… why?”
“Women tend to favor men who are a bit forceful. Using alcohol to boost your courage will definitely lead to better outcomes.”
“I don’t really get it, but if you say so, Moa. You’re always right.”
“I’m flattered by your high praise. Please continue to rely on me in the future.”
That’s good.
Following the instructions, Van will continue to drink before seeing Medina.
Medina might think she can manipulate and control Van… but how long can she maintain her ambition?
Being pursued by such a dominant figure.
Yet, can she really maintain any illusions of having the upper hand over Van?
(It’s absolutely impossible. I guarantee it.)
Yes, Moa knows better than anyone that it’s not feasible.
Van cannot be beaten.
Even trying to compete is presumptuous.
Moa feels this more acutely than anyone else, through her own experiences.
