The Lovers Touched Each Other For The First Time In Two Weeks.
I leapt into his arms, embracing him tightly.
“Ah… Hatsune-san, I’m back,” Yakumo-kun said, looking a bit bewildered as he sat on my bed.
“Yakumo-kun! You disappeared without a word… I was so worried!” I scolded.
“Sorry.”
“Did you go to that other world again?”
“You can always tell, can’t you?” he replied, a slight smile appearing.
“Yes. I’m upset you didn’t explain everything, but… more than that, I’m grateful.”
To reassure myself he was really there, I tightened my embrace, holding onto him.
“I honestly thought you’d be angrier… but you’re thanking me?”
“Well, I got to see my parents again. You were the one who brought them back, right?”
I eased my grip slightly to look at his face, and he gave me a gentle, relieved smile.
“Yeah. That’s why I went.”
“Yakumo-kun, thank you… words aren’t enough. How can I ever repay you?”
I found myself smiling as well.
“You don’t owe me anything. Knowing you got to see your parents again is enough for me.”
“It still feels surreal, but… seeing you here makes it feel like I’ve really returned to reality.”
With a gentle motion, Yakumo-kun put his arm around my back. It wasn’t a full hug, just a warm closeness, and he seemed genuinely relaxed.
“But, Yakumo-kun… why would you go this far for me?”
Going to a different world a second time, risking his life to save my parents. Even though he acted calm now, I knew he’d faced challenges I couldn’t even begin to imagine.
“Why, huh? It’s hard to put into words…” he started.
“Go on?”
“It’s just… when there’s someone you love, and you have the power to save their family, you do it. There’s no reason not to.”
“I see… Yakumo-kun, you’re way too wonderful to be my boyfriend, aren’t you?”
I hugged him tighter this time, and this time he embraced me back, too. For the first time in ages, I felt his warmth all around me. I was so happy, like my whole being was immersed in his presence.
“Yakumo-kun…”
I looked up and gazed at him, his familiar face close to mine. I wanted him to kiss me. I wanted him to know that. My gaze must’ve said it all.
But then, I noticed something odd.
“Huh? Yakumo-kun, did you… get a little smaller?”
“Well, I might have overdone it a bit over there,” he chuckled.
“But… does that really make your body shrink?”
“Maybe it’s just like losing muscle. It happens,” he said, trying to sound casual.
“But it’s not just that; I’m pretty sure you’ve gotten shorter…”
Originally, Yakumo-kun had always been notably taller and broader than the other guys, so now he just seemed more like a regular high schooler. It was strange, but maybe this was some effect of the unique power in that world?
I traced my hand across his chest and down his arm, curiously exploring this new, slightly smaller Yakumo-kun.
“Um… Hatsune-san?”
Yakumo-kun looked both bewildered and a bit embarrassed as I continued my curious exploration. Seeing him flustered made me feel a little shy myself. Normally, Yakumo-kun is just… cool. But today, he seemed a bit different—somehow even adorable. I realized how much I truly liked him, and suddenly, I couldn’t hold back anymore.
“Got you!” I murmured, and tried to push him down. Surprisingly, it worked easily. He really did seem weaker than usual.
“…Hatsune-san?”
He was lying on his back now, and I could tell he understood what I was doing.
“I was lonely, you know? For about two whole weeks…” I muttered, sitting on top of him, my words probably sounding a bit childish.
“I’m sorry.”
“A simple ‘sorry’ isn’t enough.”
“So, what can I do to make it up to you?”
“Let me do whatever I want. You deserve at least that much of a punishment, I think.”
“A punishment, huh…”
“Yup. And now, I think I can actually beat you,” I teased, feeling an unusual confidence.
Usually, Yakumo-kun’s strength and presence overpower me. But right now, it felt like I had the upper hand, and I was kind of loving it.
“…Alright,” he said, a hint of resignation in his voice… though he didn’t seem entirely reluctant.
“Prepare yourself, Yakumo-kun!” I declared, feeling triumphant.
Yet, when all was said and done, I still ended up being no match for him.
